The Saxon King of Hungary?

okay, during the late 1780's, Hungary basically revolted against the Hapsburg monarchs Joseph II.

Joseph was fighting an expensive war against the TUrks, and needed more money. But the Hungarians refused to pay unless he called a national diet to vote on the matter.

Joseph, who had predicted the fall of the French monarchy and had watched events in France, had no idea to follow that road, and refused. The Hungarians began forming a national militia units, encouraging army units to defect, and approached the king of Prussia about taking the crown.

OTL he refused, but WI, in order to gain an advantage for Prussia, he acquised?

This, combined with the Belgian revolts, may well spell doom for the Hapsburgs. What happens to Poland, in this situation? And in France?

I don't see much change for Poland. It is still stuck between a growing Prussia and a expanding Russia. Your big change would be in Austria, as it becomes simplly one more German state. A major one like Prussia, But without the extra germanic Resources Hungrary gave it.

Long term consequences could be good for the Habsburgs - they might stand as good a chance to unite the Germanies. So when pan - Germanism takes off (1848 - onwards) the Habsburgs are seen as the 'right choice' for Emperors (since historically they w/Holy Roman Emperors, etc.), and Germany is governed from Vienna and not Berlin. Probably the same struggle as in OTL between Prussia and Austria occurs, but maybe this time Konnigratz is an Austrian victory, followed up by a military thrust up into Saxony and before Berlin is put under seige the Prussians hastily offer a peace treaty. Austria annexes Silesia and part of Brandenburg. The same sort of 'federated Imperial' structure in OTL pre - 1919 Germany is in place. Germany has some colonies abroad - Kamerun, German East Africa, SE Asian islands, plus a modest navy to look after their commercial interests. Germany w/probably have a naval treaty w/Britain and possibly very friendly relations - maybe an alliance if government is liberal enough (and Habsburg government OTL was far more liberal than Wilehlmine Germany).
