Renewed US military commitment in Indochina post-MAYAGUEZ incident

Was there any way that the MAYAGUEZ incident of May 1975 could've led to a renewed US military commitment in Indochina ?

No. And here is why:

1. All American allies in the area were overrun by the Mayaguez incident.

2. There were laws preventing US military activity in Indochina by May 1975.

3. The Ford administration did not have the political capital to challenge Congress on #2.

4. The US/China alliance made Indochina irrelevant in the US world view.
