Alternate Names for British Columbia

Well, since it was split in half by Washington state. Why not Columbia?

Or you could go with the Pacific Territories.

Salish is probably a good name

Oregon or British Oregon

Possibly Cariboo if the gold rush there causes that portion of the British Columbia province to maintain enough prominence.

But the most likely is Vancouver, as the Colony of British Columbia had the Colony of Vancouver Island incorporated into it in 1860s. If Vancouver was sufficiently dominant (probably in population) at the time of the merger, that name likely would have taken.

would require washington state to be (South) Cascadia though.
Why? In England we have North Lincolnshire (unitary authority around Scunthorpe), North East Lincolnshire(unitary authority around Grimsby) and Lincolnshire (rest of the county-a traditional county council) no South Lincolnshire.

The area had long been known as Columbia. The only plausible options without a much earlier POD are "British Columbia" or just "Columbia".

no but you have a lincolnshire. I put the south in parenthesis because it would be weird to have *north* cascadia without either a south cascadia or a place simply called cascadia neither of which, OTL, exist.

Fair enough.

However as BC does contain the northern end of the Cascades I can see some British Official calling it Northern Cascadia as the southern end is in the US.
