Peter Tsouras' "Over The Top": Could Northcliffe have become the first fascist?

If you've read Peter G. Tsouras' recent World War I AH book "Over The Top", you might recall that one of the essays towards the end of the book focuses on a scenario whereby the famed press tycoon Lord Northcliffe becomes prime minister of Britain after Lloyd George is lynched by an angry mob in the wake of a German zeppelin attack on London. The narrative implies Northcliffe's administration is a heavily authoritarian one, and in the closing paragraphs it's even vaguely hinted that Northcliffe is maneuvering to perpetuate his rule in the postwar era. So my question to all of you is: if Northcliffe actually had become the British PM for whatever reason, could he have become the first fascist dictator of the 20th century?

OK, that takes us to the next question: what would it have taken to dislodge Northcliffe from power? Could he have been deposed peacefully, or would an armed rebellion have been necessary?

I'm sorry to say I'm not sure who that is  Pardon my ignorance :p Seem interestnig though--is the rest of the book worth picking up?

Lol, too funny, I just did a quick wiki myself :p:eek: Seem he was quite the Man About Town as it were...lots of influence...also seems he died not long after the War. But,one could easily say that in the altered state of an ATL naturally he could avoid getting sick altogther and live a Very Long Life  Seems lloyd George didn't like him very much though. Maybe if he was sidelines or otherwise out of the picture? Looked around online for the book hoping to find a cheap copy..$40 isnt exactly budget breaking though so maybe Ill have to order it, unless you wanna be a swell chap and let me borrow it :D j/k
