What if in 2002, the Gujarati riots became so intense that it caused a massive fracture in Northern India. In turn the fracture would become so great that it caused a four year period of Civil War in Northern India.
The total Casualties of this war is around 5.5 million people, and ushers the creation of 16 new nation states.
What happens to the rest of the World?

You underestimate the cohesiveness of India as a nation...
The people there, despite their differences in languages and religions, mainly consider themselves as Indian first and foremost...

So I don't think that this is possible...

And more than anything else you underestimate the will of the Indian Army to keep the country together. That is an institution that will not let India split. Ever wonder why out of hundreds of princely states not one of them remained outside of India in 1948? Cause the army wasn't afraid to beat them into submission.

Modern India already had a massive Hindu vs. Muslim religious civil war that fractured the country, it was called the Partition in 1947.

The 2002 Gujarat pogroms will not cause a civil war.
