There were several PODs I wonder could happen.
#1 - the Irgun apparently wanted Ralphe Bunche dead also. What if Bunche was with Swedish Count Bernadotte and was assassinated by the Irgun also? How would this affect the stewing tensions in Palestine?
#2 - Bunche threatened to break the Jewish and Arab negotiators' heads at the end of the 1948 war with the stone plaques he had ordered if they did not come to a peace deal after all his negotiations (he admitted such when they asked him later 'what if we did not accept the peace deal)
#3 - what if things went south before the 'end' of the British Mandate, and that therefore the U.S. was forced to place troops in Palestine to enforce the UN decision? How would U.S. troops in Palestine fare with the population there? (Truman was afraid of this happening)
