I've seen a few map posts and such on this site refer to monarchist China as "The Middle Kingdom", which gave me this idea.
Have some version of the Empire/Kingdom/whatever monarchy of China be a willing member (not a puppet) of a monarchist power bloc. This monarchist China must include at least the Han majority areas of mainland China, preferably more than that. The monarchist power bloc/alliance must include China ("The Middle Kingdom"), The Russian Empire, or some other monarchy that controls Siberia ("The Northern Kingdom"), Japan ("The Eastern Kingdom"), some monarchy that controls northern India, such as the Mughal Empire ("The Southern Kingdom"), and some monarchy that controls Central Asia, not the same as the one that controls Siberia, such as a more powerful Persia ("The Western Kingdom").
As part of the challenge, the average Chinese citizen and the Chinese talking heads (is that what they are called?) must refer to these various nations as quoted in everyday speech. For example, Chinese peasant A is talking to Chinese peasant B about the northern Indian kingdom. He would refer to this kingdom as "The Southern Kingdom".
The time period for this would be any where from the 1800s/age of imperialism to the present day. Preferably, the monarchist alliance is standing in opposition to some other power bloc, such as a communist one, but it doesn't have to in order to accomplish the challenge. The same goes for whether or not any other nations are included in the monarchist alliance, although they must be monarchies.
You can use any POD you want.
Bonus points if all/as many as possible of these monarchies are constitutional/democratic.
