There were a few Spanish expeditions in that century that made it to the Solomon Islands. The Viceroy of Peru wanted a place to dump convicts, IIRC. But the contacts were not sustained. But it's certainly possible to get swept along by currents to the general vicinity of Oceania.
The problem with reaching Australia is that the Great Barrier Reef will make short work of a fleet approaching from the north-east.
New Zealand might be doable, but IIRC Magellan was shooting for the Indies anyway, so there's no reason to go so far south.
