Another dynasty for Prussia

Instead of the Hohenzollern, which other noble house could replace the Hohenzollerns ? What pods, butterflies would/could require this ?

If you're talking about what dynasty could have become rulers of Ducal Prussia then hypothetically any German Dynasty could have gained the crown because that purely depends on who is Grandmaster of the Teutonic Knights when the Order transitions to a Secular Protestant State following getting its butt kicked by Poland. Since there is no hereditary succession but instead its a sort of elective Order that kept shifting between different dynasties there's nothing preventing you from elevating your favorite Pet Dynasty that owned like 5 Acres and a couple Cows to being Duke of Prussia.

If you're talking about the Margrave of Brandenburg, then either the House of Wittelsbach or the House of Luxembourg are the most likely as they both possessed the Title before the House of Hohenzollern came to the throne. They could have kept it.

For instance, have Otto V, Duke of Bavaria instead leave Bavaria to focus on Brandenburg and that removes some of the pretense for Charles IV to invade.

Or if you want the Luxembourgs to stay there just prevent them from dying out, though in this case their primary title will remain either Emperor or King of Bohemia, they won't become Prussia without losing a lot of their other titles, which granted isn't impossible since most of them are Elective.

Didn't the Ascanians also control Brandenburg temporarily?

Also the Wittelsbachs and the Luxemburgs.

If the latter keep it, then it presumably passes to the Habsburgs when (if) the Luxemburg line dies out. So Brandenburg belongs to Austria. Interesting.

OK, here's a different, but related, question. If the hohenzollerns become extinct AFTER they become kings of prussia, which house do their titles pass too. I know of a number of agreements the hohenzollerns made with their neighbours saying that if one house went extinct, the other would get their lands (off the top of my head I seem to remember this is how they got their half of pomerania and their claim to silesia), but given that the hohenzollerns made many such agreements, which one would they actually follow through on???

Albrecht Hohenzollern was the polish king's nephew; I guess that had some influence on Sigismund's decision to make him duke of Prussia instead of turning that state into another polish voivodeship.

Albert of Brandenburg was born in 1490, elected Grand Master age 20 in 1511 - and lived to be 77.
His predecessor Frederick of Saxony was born in 1474, elected Grand Master age 23-24 in 1498 - and died natural causes age 36, in 1510.

So, if Frederick lives a long life, would he get to embezzle Prussia?
What would be political effect of Saxon Prussia in period 1525-1552?
