George W. Bush kill in 02 by North Korean

US Public will want for Blood, and conspiracy theory about the Axis of Evil's cooperations will be mainstream. Expect North Korea, Iran, and Iraq to be soon invaded by NATO. US Public will scream for North Korean blood... remember, this is soon after 9/11

Food Aid to North Korea ends its nuclear program gets wiped out and possibly an invasion but I'm not sure.

The first two alone probably cause massive issues for North Korea with mass starvation and an end to its big ego project.

Oh, no. OTL isn’t mass starvation. Not compared to what would happen to them if they did this. The army would be dropping dead as they marched in this scenario.
The Songun thing is mostly just ideological nonsense on behalf of the Worker's Party. The rank-and-file Korean People's Army is plagued with starvation. Allegedly, it's possible to bribe your way past the Chinese border guards with bread and water.

If it was discovered North Korea had ordered the assassination, I just don't see how this can end in anything but an invasion.

I really can't see anything but a military response happening in this scenario. Bush was incredibly popular in '02 and his "Axis of Evil" speech has just been proven true, not to mention that the US was out for blood anyway and now NK has kicked that up another notch. The US would be garnering even more sympathy internationally so China would be reluctant to prevent the US from responding hard.

Not sure who would fire first, the DPRK may realize what's coming and try to get a pre-emptive strike in before the US and SK can fully mobilize. Seoul would get hammered by artillery and US-SK forces would be pushed back at first. But soon enough the DPRK would get rolled up like a carpet and then it's a question of how to avoid what happened in the first Korean War with China. If the US is smart then you'd likely see a peace deal worked out with a rump NK state at the end of it and some clearly defined limits on what they can and can't do in regards to nukes, rockets, and force sizes.

Bush becomes the most beloved president in American History. Hell, they will carve out a spot for him next to the four Mt. Rushmore's

North Korea is destroyed. U.S. bloodlust will dissipate, but not before the North Korean govt. and military is wiped out.

Ironically, the destruction of North Korea probably saves Saddam Hussein. The U.S. will forget about Iraq for a number of years and if he has an ounce of brainpower, Hussein will try to make nice nice with the U.S.

I agree North Korea would become the focus of US anger. If there is an invasion, the quick victory would satisfy the American People.

I assume President Cheney runs and wins in 2004. If there is no long drawn out Iraq war thing go much easier for him. 2006 is not the big Democratic landslide.

IDK. It depends on whether starvation truly has turned the most fortified place on Earth into a genuine paper tiger, and whether China comes to the Kims' rescue regardless of the facts on the ground.

IDK. Part of the reason Saddam "refused to negotiate" at the end was because of his diabetic dementia. There was no one left in power other than his even crazier two sons to tell him to back down, and Cheney really wanted those oil fields for his Halliburton friends.

That's up to China.

IDK. Cheney wasn't that big on electability. Even his home state of Wyoming went for him only because it is a mortal lock for Republicans. IF NK doesn't collapse like an wet empty paper bag, AND Cheney goes for Iraq anyway, AND there's no WMD, AND China chooses to intervene:eek:? Assuming all of this happens before the 2004 campaign season, regardless of whoever the GOP nominee is, it would be a 44 state Democratic sweep (minus Utah, South Carolina, Idaho, Kansas, Wyoming, Alabama, Mississippi (1)).

1) States that would probably vote for Kang or Kodos rather than a Democrat:rolleyes: See "The Simpsons: Treehouse of Horror-1996 Edition":p
