"Mr.Falkner will see you now"
They were led into a fairly standard office of a man who ran a club, and likely had a large number of illegal activities going on at any moment, from drug smuggling to prostitution. The man himself was a tall Swede in his mid 40s and said
"Can I offer you a drink?"
He poured for the small group, and then said
"A Colleague informed me that your looking for a professional, and a job that would be kept quiet"
the man nodded
"Thats correct"
"Interesting, for a small fee, I will contact this man, and he may or may not choose to contact you. It is how he works, and how he is never caught or found."
the men paid the fee, and were told to go about their lives, and he would find them.

Apartment 21B

The Apartment was the home of a French Major in the 2nd Infantry Division. The major was also one of the most pleasant of the French Commanders in dealing with the occupation. However, at the moment the major was tied and gagged to a chair in his living room. Adrian Blanche calmly began planting the evidence. It had been shockingly easy to surprise the Major, all he did was wait behind the shower curtain until the major tried to take a piss. Then Blanche had hit him on the back of his head with a pistol, and tie him to the chair. He told the Major while he put a big gallon jug of Soma beneath the sink, as well as some Marijuana and Heroin in bags. He put a bag of chemists vials, and a scale in a cabinet.

Adrian hummed while he worked, and said
“You know, its almost to bad, your not that bad of a person. Not that I care of course, but the press will demonize you once they discover that evidence pointing to the fact that you where using the French military to sell drugs to school children. Is it not so unfortunate that that pore 10th year student who overdosed on Heroin happens to live in the floor above you. And is it not so unfortunate that her real drug dealers body is likely in the Atlantic at this point. So once they discover your body, people are going to really hate the French occupation. And I’m barely getting started.”

Blanche pulled out his pistol and shot the man between the eyes. He used a French made weapon, all to add to the look that this might either be a crime scene of French on French violence, or French on triad violence. Who gave a shit. He had considered using a tokarev, to shed light on the Communists, but he would save that option for later. He stode out of the apartment and quickly vanished into an ally before the police responded to the gunshot.

The Order, with Phillip von Rohr at its head, was on the march again. This time the advances were to be more concentrated, striking into the north, east and south. In time they would have to withdraw across the great southern river, but such would depend upon just what state the East confederacy was in.

There was some concern. Rumour had it those whores had sold out American land to the cavorting Europeans. The French apparently were advancing into Quebec. This was considered ever so slightly unacceptable, but for now the forces or the desire for putting these heretics in their place was not there. Still, adepts were being sent to watch them.

Another concern was the apparent news that a great host of bandits might have arisen somewhere upon the west coast. While the Rockies were considered something of a sheild, no doubt placed there by God for this purpose, the possession of the lands before them was not yet determined. That was something for the future.

Tanks were of course, the pinnacle of the Volkswehr. This came from the humongous tank corps of the old Soviet Union...
When they expanded back there, no doubt they would reach even greater heights with it.
For now, however... The T-55, supposed to be in service somewhere in the 5 Years of Destruction, finally came out today. Currently the tank corps was dominated by the T-40 and T-34, as well as a few Panzers. Fortunately, production of those had fully shifted to the better, Soviet design.
Meanwhile, aircraft production was shifting towards MiG-15s. MiG-3s were still being produced, but militaries all over the world, and in France, were moving towards the new era of jet fighters...
As well, a jet bomber called Il-28 was being developed.
The military duly noted Stasi reports of military build-up in France. How sad, forme allies had fallen out. At least the British were more amiable.. at least the true British.

Boston, Massachusetts

Jack York was pleased with himself.

Boston had been mostly retaken from Duncan's forces.

So had about half of the other larger cities in the Confederacy.

The other half were still engaged in combat, although for about half of those, the conflict looked to be on York's side.

Unfortunately, the rural areas were still, mostly, under Duncan's control. There had been few, if any real large military bases out in the country, and those that had had not exactly had the best equipment. The soldiers there either died, or simply laid down their arms.

He looked at the casualty reports. So far, in this... Civil war... Coup... Whatever it was called, 7,500 of his men had been killed.

7,500? Sherman was right. War IS hell.

About 12,500 wounded... But, at least from what he could tell, Duncan's Boys in Blue had suffered far, far worse.

But the civilians suffered even worse.

There were about 42,500 dead civilians on the streets. 42,500. Jesus.

And it was all that god damned Duncan's fault. All because he was such a god damned...

He sighed. There was nothing he could do now. The war was in full swing, and nothing was stopping it. Portland was still in the throes of battle, along with many other major cities. The ruins of New York were supposedly becoming even worse than they had before. Cornell University had apparently been utterly destroyed during a massive firefight.

War was hell.

He looked at the funding from Spain. He appreciated it. He truly did. Not just that they were helping him, but that they recognized Duncan for the scum he was, and were not providing any help for him.

France... Well, from the reports given by the DGSE agents, he doubted France would ever be going against him in this war. He wondered if that was a good thing.

South Africa was seeming satisfied with their investigation, at least insofar that they have not slammed down on him. He was just hoping they were not slamming down on him in secret, giving aid to Duncan.

He sighed. If they were, what could he do? He could not risk another war at this point. The country was already devastated from the one Duncan had wrought upon them.

He opened his drawer. Well, there was certainly something he could do.

------------------------------------

Michael Duncan was on the run.

He had been chased out of Boston, with the military hot on his heels. His forces had been beaten back, almost out of the city. He counted himself lucky to manage to get out while he still could.

He was retreating back into the countryside, where he knew he would be safe. His boys controlled the entire area, given there were no troops out here. Most of them were kept up in the cities, trying to push his police out of them.

They already had, in many. But in many they were also having trouble. His boys would make sure if they wanted their cities back, they would have to pay for them in blood. In lots, and lots of green, York loving blood.

He assured himself, yet again, that just because he had been pushed out of Boston did not mean that he had lost the war. He still had complete and utter control of the countryside. If, once the cities were secure, York and his boys wanted to try to come and reclaim it? Let them. Duncan may not have been an expert in guerrilla warfare, but god damned if he could not learn. If the grass and trees around him had to be stained red with blood in order for him to win this war, so be it.

He would not, despite anything the god damned Spanish or the god damned French or the god damned South Africans told him to do, he would NOT give up until there was a bullet in his head.

And he did not intend to see that happening any time soon.

All farms, mines, factories, mills, and other industrial producers had been controlled by the government. and each one was then divided up and began to compete with others... boosting revenues and resource allocation.

Meanwhile in Japan, the Japanese population was being offered incentives to move out to the less populated regions of the empire, Karafuto, Hokkaido, Chishima, Taiwan, Malay, Kamchatka, and Kyushu were the prime targets of their incentives. meanwhile, the government was also offering tax breaks to those families that had more than 5 children since the beginning of the new year. several persons had been taken up on the offer, but it was not enough to cause a massive population increase.

Every day new shops were reopening and the schools were humming with the thoughts of young minds. Yes the entertainment sector had been stifled somewhat, with any performance upon the sabbath was illegal, but the city was clearly alive. Some indeed went further and believed that in time the city would thrive. The same was true of all the other cities that found themselves freed of the bandits and brought back into some form of economy.

Unemployment was falling and with it went the rates of crime. True alot of this was illusionary, the Order of von Rohr was expanding largely and placing orders for dubious goods of military value, but it was employment of a sort. South Africa TODAY!

Another Soma battle in Cape Town

Several high ranking African National Congress fugitives were gunned down by unknown assailants of Oriental features in the backalleys of a Cape Town industrial zone earlier this week. While the crime is one of many in a series of similar crimes that has been perpertated accross the country, South African Police Chief Willie Knight has called for calm, stating 'These crimes have affected only kaffirs and should not be of great concern to white South Africans'

Soma, an addictive substance which is highly fashionable in Paris, Madrid and Athens, known in South African as L.S.D. 25 is thought to be involved given the large quantites found in the warehouse where the murders took place.

King John to visit in weeks!

King John I of South Africa has given his clearest indication yet that the planned visit to Cape Town and the tour of South Africa will take place by the end of June. This visit, the first from the monarch since the fall is looked upon by many as a 'make or break' tour for the future of the monarchy in South Africa.

Over recent months with the continued stagnation in the Commonwealth of Independent Realms there has been renwed calls for a turn to Republicanism in the South African nation.

Deal over Socotra close

South African foreign affairs officals have announced that a deal over the island of Socotra, off the coast of the Arabian penninsula, is close to being finalised with our allies in the Republic of Greece. This strategic island is looked upon by the South African armed services as an important base to further project South African power into the Indian Ocean basin.

If the deal is accepted at the current time, it will see Greece retain ownership and use over communication systems on the island and retain port and military access, as well as a payment of some 10 kilograms of South African gold. In return South Africa will gain sovereignty over the island and the island will be annexed into the Union as an external territory.

Eastern Hemisphere Alliance Proclaimed

In Madrid, Republic of Spain, the 'Madrid Pact' was signed ushering in a new era of South African and world international relations. The Madrid Pact, formally called the Eastern hemisphere Alliance seeks to ensure the continued growth of the terrorist regime in communist Berlin is stopped, and even better reveresed.

Already the EHA has the Empire of France, Republic of Spain and the Republic of Greece involved. The Union of South Africa is honoured that it is the first non-European nation to be invited into the alliance, although it is sure that it will not be the only non-European member nation within time.

In a somewhat expected move Admiral Piet deWit has been nominated as South Africa's chief military officer to the Alliance. Admiral deWit, already well known in France due to his efforts in the British War, is expected to help set into motion the co-ordination of the EHA's naval strategies.

Presidential Speech to the State
Rio de Janeiro

"Today, I have ordered some 10,000 troops into the town of Recife. They have set up a small beach head right on the coast, with constant supplies being sent by a marine route. The people of the north east have been under tremendous pressure, between the constant threat of drought and starvation and raging civil war between communist scum and valiant national Integralists. We have been steadily giving the nationalists what help we can, but we have been constrained by low manufactering.

No longer. With the arm shipments from Europe for our Amazonian rubber, we have been able to equip our allies and send our troops into combat. Further, the control of the state has expanded with the growth of Local Rubber, Inc. Where it blazes ahead, the progress and order of the Integralist regime follows. More land in Brazil looks to Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro for guidance everyday.

I encourage, nay, demand, that every citizen do their utmost to help rebuild the great nation of Brazil. We need the help of all peoples, be they tribals from the Amazon, European immigrants of the South, carioca, paulistano, everyone. We have strength in our diversity and unity in our purpose. All peoples, all together!"

Announcement from the government of the Union of South Africa

The government under the direction of Prime Minister D.F. Malan and Governor-General Andreias Rhoodie had declared that the faction in the Massachussetts Civil War led by Mr. Duncan to be illegitmate and against the best wishes for the Confederate peoples.

The Union of South Africa hereby declares its full support for Provisional President Jack York, the true victor in the recent violence-marred elections. In the interests in promoting this friendship with the Confederate government, the 3rd SAS Regiment currently in the Confederation helping fleeing foreign citizens will be directed to assist directly in the battles on the side of York and the legitamate government.

To the True government of the Confederate Counties of Massachussetts - Provisional President Jack York
From the Union of South Africa

After the sucessful removal of the last remaining foreign civilian nationals in your country to our waiting evacuation fleets we will be allowing the 3rd SAS Regiment to help you in the tracking down and capture of the criminal Duncan.

We at this time echo our allies, Spain's wishes for Duncan to go to Madrid for trial, although we understand that Massachussetts may have a more pressing claim on this criminal after the attrocities perpertrated in his illbegotten name.

As a token of our friendship and in honour of the openess in which you have conducted this sorrid episode in your nation's history, we will be giving you a foreign aid grant of forty kilograms worth of gold, along with one thousand metric tons of maize.

Boston, Massachusetts

Jack York looked at the pile of messages on his desk. Ever since martial law had been declared, security had been tight. Given that Duncan and his forces might resort to more... Alternative forms of attack than a direct assault on York, anything and everything that entered York's office tended to be throughly searched, in order to secure his safety. He understood it, he implemented it, after all, but it still agitated him a bit when letters coming in for the past week only landed on his desk that day.

Of course, it was all Duncan's fault. If Duncan had not gone insane and tried to take over the government, York would never had had to declare martial law. He regretted doing it even then.

He sighed, and decided to start going through the various messages from the various embassies scattered around Boston.

To Spain

From the Offices of Jack York

We would be willing to extradite Michael Duncan to Spain in order for your country to try him for his crimes there. However, we would request that he first stand for his crimes here, and that if he is to be executed anywhere, that it be in the Confederacy itself.

We can agree upon a non-aggression pact. It is only suitable for two nations who both wish for peace, order and freedom upon their respective citizens to agree for long-lasting peace between them.

To Republic of California

From the Offices of Jack York

We received no ambassadors from a "Republic of California", nor have we heard of such a nation as of yet.

It is possible that the diplomat may have been... Intercepted in Wisconsin. We have had... Troubling relations with them, although nothing substantiate, but I would not put it past them to do such a thing.

If, perhaps, you could inform us of the situation of the Panama Canal, and whether or not it could allow a boat suitable to carry an ambassador through.

I would also like to ask for a mutual recognition of national sovereignty between our two nations. I would also like to advocate some form of "North American Conference", so to speak, so that we, (Massachusetts, Wisconsin, and California) may decide how to administer the former United States and Canada.

To the Union of South Africa

From the Offices of Jack York

We appreciate any and all aid you have given us. This is a true sign of friendship - Aiding us in one of our greatest times of need. I thank you once again, and hope for prosperous relations between our two nations in the future.

To the Empire of France

From the Offices of Jack York

We appreciate the aid which you have given our country in its greatest time of need.

Secret:
Especially the aid in the form of two certain DGSE agents.

After calling in his radioman and handing him the messages, he pulled himself out of his chair and looked out of his windows.

At the current moment, there were groups, none of which consisted of more than twenty people, appropriately spaced apart so that two separate ones might not be considered a single group, all of which were the appropriate distance away from the military complex. And they were all protesting the martial law.

He sighed. Did they not understand? They thought he did this to oppress them. He only did this to FREE them! He did this, he did all of this, for THEM! He would never, EVER consider doing any of this for himself. Why would he? That was only something Duncan might do.

He closed his blinds. He supposed national leaders had had to undergo that for centuries now. It was nothing new. He was no one special. People had protested the correct and just actions of their leaders for as long as the history books had recorded it. They would continue to do so until mankind died out. There was nothing he could do about.

There was something, however, which he could do to help forget about it.

He, once again, opened his drawer.

Five months since the Korean war and things were looking up for Japan. enough subliminal messaging had been spread around to slowly shift sent public opinion of the Japanese towards the positive side. for the most part, order had been restored to the people of Korea. and they were allowed to live anyway that they wished, so long as they obeyed the law and payed their taxes. Military bases were being built along the frontier and at key locations throughout the empire.

Manchu raiders had been attacking the Korean people since the Japanese Occupation ended. Japanese eyes on Manchuria proper and Greater Manchuria had been set for some time. however, issues with China remained. Emperor Tokugawa did not want to piss of the Chinese..

Jones said, "We only have the island itself. Is that what you're getting at?"

"Yes," said Roberts. "Eighty thousand people. Do you know what they have?"

This time Georges answered. "Eight million."

"A hundred times ours. Can we hold up to them?" asked Roberts.

"Do we need to?" asked Georges.

Harris elaborated. "Compare Luxembourg to Germany."

Roberts protested. "Germany took over Luxembourg twice and annexed it the second time. And that was with France and England and everyone else around to take offense."

Jones said, "So you think we should grab more territory while we still can."

"Yes."

Georges spoke up. "That's foolhardy! If they take offense, then..."

The room was silent for a moment. Then Roberts replied.

"What if they take offense at something else?"

"Yes. The Rio Grande. The Rio Grande. No I didn't believe it either. We are far too far away to do that. Urgent you say. Very good. Tell Alex that he needs to finish up in Indiana."

The news that this Californian state existed was treated with some level of upset throughout Wisconsin's elite. Worse still they appeared to have ambitions beyond the Rockies and had established some sort of administration at the base of the great river which served as the border of Texas. This was unsettling. Still it was agreed that nothing much could be done about it now, efforts were needed to secure the border with Massachusetts. The full effort of Wisconsin was to fall upon the regions before the Ohio river.

That state, Massachusetts, was fast becoming a problem. The Archbishop, guided no doubt by God, observed they were getting more and more into bed with the French. Apparently these Imperialists had overrun Britain and were now sweeping into the Canadian province of Quebec. It was a concern to all involved. The key point of American foreign policy for the last century had been to keep the Europeans out of the Western Hemisphere. It appeared that rule had been forgotten and now they were being invited in by the bucketload. That would change.

With conflict becoming increasingly plausable the Governor was pressured to create a standing army, complete with modern armour, aircraft and weapons. Such would serve two purposes, for one it would serve to expand the already growing arsenal of the Order at an even faster rate and second it would provide for a military force capable of operating over slightly longer regions than city and state militia.

Oh, and there was something else to do as well.

They are able to shoot almost 100 kilometers away and have a special trial weapon that we discovered up in the mountains of Greece, which will probably destroy much in its path. The weapon is a tar-like substance that continues to burn even when water is poured onto it. We call the tank the Herakles.
Yes! If we deploy this in Trebizond...how long would it take to deploy it?
Around 1 month sir, and we have just sent a brigade now.
Good! what of our new boats?
Yes, the new battleship model, the Hera has been tested on Albanian pirates on the coast and it works splendidly. The Hermes works well as a exploration ship, but is not as good as we expected in combat, and thus we have sent a small party of it to North America to discover any new countries.
...What about Spain?
Well, we have just picked up around 2 million Greek refugees and around 3 million Spaniards who wish to join our republic.
What shall we do about them? We dont have enough room for them all...I know! Make them into army soldiers and sailor. We need a new army. I hope that they shall be ready in about 4 months so that we may deploy them to our next expansion: Colonies.
Yes yes, let us focus on our current one, Trebizond. We expect that it shall be finished in another 3 months.
Good. What of the Albanians?
No word from the Croatians, but we are quite sure that the Selucians wish to help us after both of those attacks.
Fine. 3 months from now, we invade Sebia.

Durres, Albania

Hello fellow Greeks and Albanians, the preisdent of Greece has appointed me as governor-general to your land. I wish to serve you well ,and may god bless the land of Albania as we rebuilt together in harmony and peace.

BAM! BAM!

two shots were fired, one hitting an Albanian civilian, killing him, and another killing the assailant. The first attempt og Gergio Miklos was made, but this was just the beginning.

Adrianople, Thrace

Rebuilding has gone quite smoothly, Governor-General Alrovon Sevkop. The monorail line now stretches from Constantinople to Athens, and all the cities in between! Many factories have been rebuilt as well, and we have rebuilt the schools. Also, we have built a new city, near Constantinople, on the coast of the Black Sea, called Varas.
Good soldier. Keep the work going.

As the Order began to train with fresh equipment, new armour, new guns, new artillery, new aircraft and new recruits, the Archbishop was slowly convincing the Governor of the need to pacify Texas from the reprobate who had made it their lair. People already whispered of the event which was soon to come to pass. The Astrum Solum crusade.

It would be delayed for a time however, perhaps a few months, as the various militias and forces finished establishing their border with Massachusetts.

The reconstruction was going smoothly as even the murderous Albanians were helping to rebuild their land. It seemed that many of them had given up trying to free the country. The monorail system ran across the country and connected to Athens. The schools were rebuilt, and new factories were opened. Without meaning to skip over the details, things appear to be going badly in Massachusetts. Your rival York seems to be getting support from half of Europe and those harlots are all jumping at the chance to be the one who hangs you. While you have no doubt done some terrible things it seems God has not determined that you are to perish at this time. We in Wisconsin wondered if you might consider a change of scene rather than going down guns blazing, or worse, to be executed at some crudely built gallows.

We believe we could harbour yourself and considerable numbers of your supporters beyond the Ohio river. That would place you beyond the reach of miserable York and his miserable European paymasters. You could reorganise those still loyal to you, rebuild your strength and then strike once the people grow sick and tired of York's imperialism.

Still, it is only a suggestion. If you feel the need to write the end of your ballad in your own blood then we can do little to prevent you from doing so.

The conquest of the area was going to be tough, as the people here fought like madmen! They attacked anything they could, and destroyed whatever they could. Sure, the army held Trebizond and Sinope, but that was nothing without the coutryside. Well, the people seem to be fighting between themselves as well, so we must exploit that fault.

Movies are quite cheap as well, only costing about 2.50 PHD (Pan-Hellenic Dollars) to watch one. The film companies have all relocated to Santorini and a new, sprawling metropolis has sprung up there. Quickly, Santorini has become the new Hollywood of its time.

Boston, Massachusetts

York looked at the pile of messages on his desk. This really was annoying.

But, then again, there had been bombings throughout the major cities recently. He understood why security was so heightened. He himself was already thinking of ways to improve security. He had heard Herring was working on remote sound recording devices... He would have to look into that.

But back to more important matters.

To the Neo-Seleucid Empire.

From the Offices of Jack York, Supreme Commander of the Confederated Counties of Massachusetts

We are delighted at the news that yet another stable government has survived the Great Disaster. We would enjoy an exchange of ambassadors and a mutual recognition of national sovereignty.

York put down his pen. He thought for a moment. There was still the matter of the North American Territory Conference... He was sure that the Republic of California would graciously decide to enter without hesitation.

But Wisconsin...

Wisconsin...

He figured that it was only appropriate to invite them. They were a sovereign government, after all. He had recognized them as such.

To the Republic of California and the government in Wisconsin

From the Offices of Jack York, Supreme Commander of the Confederated Counties of Massachusetts

We wish to arrange a conference in order to determine, peacefully, which areas of the former United States, Canada, and possibly Mexico will be administered by which government. We believe that such a conference is necessary in order to ensure peace and prosperity between our nations, rather than pointless war. We would hope to see in this conference and equal amount of land and population divided up between each nation, so that we may all administer as many people as each other, in the ways that we all see fit.

We would suggest the conference take place in a country which is neutral in these affairs, so that their diplomats might help to mediate the agreements. Possibly South Africa?

We look forward to hearing from you.

He called in his radioman, and handed the messages to him. He once again stood up and looked out the window. He was sure that those protesters never left their spots. Every time he looked out that window, they were there, protesting the martial law. Did they still not understand? Duncan's forces had all been but pushed out of the cities, and reclamation of rural lands was starting. Until that time when all the lands of the Confederacy were secure from the insurrection, who knew what might happen?

As if on cue, something did happen.

York thought he heard the gunshot. He was not sure. All he really noticed was that there was a bullet lodged in the right side of his chest, and he was bleeding.

Wait. He had been shot? Huh.

He fell backwards onto his desk, as his office staff rushed in to see what happened. He heard someone shout for a medic, heard someone else shout something about catching the bastard that did this...

And then... All was black.

-----------------------------
Nondescript farm house, countryside of Massachusetts

Michael Duncan was angry. He was very, very angry.

God damned York had survived. He had SURVIVED.

That assassin he had hired had claimed to be "the best shot 'round".

Then why the hell was York alive? WHY?!

Sure, York was in a critical state. He might still die. The bullet had entered his lung, after all. Surgery was still being performed on him.

But he could still live.

Duncan slammed his fist on the desk of his make-shift headquarters. Best shot 'round his ass. I mean, he was a BUSINESS MAN, for the love of Christ. What kind of business man was a good shot?

The would-be assassin had been caught, anyways. An over-zealous private unloaded his Garand into him when they did catch him. Duncan doubted he would get anything more than a slap on the wrist for that.

It was not as if the assassin could give any information they did not already know. Duncan had ordered the assassination. Anyone who was not completely retarded could see that.

But York was alive. God damnit, YORK WAS ALIVE.

He slammed down again. Duncan was getting ready to go to Boston himself, rush into that hospital, and kill York himself. After all, if you wanted something done right, you had to do it yourself.

He sighed. He knew he could not do that. His face was plastered on Wanted posters all over every major city in the Confederacy. He doubted he could get within ten miles of Boston, with all the military patrols being sent out.

He figured he might try a bomb next. Maybe a suicide bomber? There were some people who supported him enough who might try that.

He sighed again. After this, he doubted York would even ever go out in public. Security would definitely be heightened to extreme levels. He doubted anyone but his closest advisory would be able to get within fifty feet of York, and even then it would take a lot of coercing to get closer.

He was considering a group of assassins when one of his captains came in, standing at attention, waiting to be noticed.

"Yes?" Duncan asked, trying his hardest not to burst out at the captain. It was not his captain's fault that York was alive, after all.

"A message from the Wisconsinites, sir." He dropped the paper on Duncan's desk. Duncan waved him out. What could the Wisconsinites want from him?

Wait... They were offering... Support?

He laughed. He laughed harder than he had ever laughed.

The Wisconsinites, out of ALL the nations around Massachusetts. The god damned WISCONSINITES were the ones helping him?

He could not help but laugh.

This was, possibly, one of the strangest twists of fate he had ever heard of.

But Duncan was not one to look a gift horse in the mouth. He would gladly, GLADLY accept their support without any question. It was not as if anyone else was offering.

Secret:

To the Government in Wisconsin

From Michael Duncan

My forces and I would gladly accept your suggested asylum and support. I will, of course, have to make arrangements in order to secure a strong resistance movement in the Confederacy before I leave for the safety of your borders. I suspect that I, along with my top captains and lieutenants, may be able to reach your borders within a month or so.

I thank you whole-heartedly for your support, and may God keep you and your countrymen safe.

End Secret

Duncan had trouble from laughing more. He was concerned that some of his men might think him insane.

But it was the WISCONSINITES.

He chuckled a little. "May god keep you and your countrymen safe."

God? Ha! He was an atheist, through and through. Of course, not that many people knew that. So not that many people would be able to tell the Wisconsinites that. He was sure he could put on a show of being a devout Christian...

He was sure that the family he had commandeered this farmhouse from were the religious type... He would have to see if there were any Bibles he could study up on...

(OOC: BLEGH! That attempted assassination scene could have gone a LOT better.)

It had been three months, but Parliament had worked out a coalition.

The Democratic, Republican, and Evangelist parties held 26 seats altogether. This was enough for a majority, but it was a precarious one. Paul Carroll, senior Republican representative, was widely believed to be on his last legs, and if his replacement was Nationalist...

Andrew Jones was well aware of this as he entered Roberts's office. He spread out a map.

"What's this?" asked Roberts.

"A proposal, to help the nation be stronger."

"Against California?"

Prime Minister Malan sat at his desk sipping on some fine brandy, leaning back in the leather upholstery of his huge desk swivel chair. Reflecting on the day's events he looked out of the window of the Prime Minister's residence across the public square towards the Assembly's buildings, the heart of South African government.

Somewhere in the city the King of India and by the miracle of modern royal bloodlines, the King of South Africa as well was staying in the Royal Suite in the Marriot Hotel in downtown Cape Town. The King held no power outside India, a fact that he sometimes forgot, and the Prime Minister had had to act firm on a number of occasions to not let the King get the idea he had some measure of political power here.

Plucking a habana from the humidor on his desk, Malan paced around the Prime Ministerial office, deep in thought..... 'What next could be done to make South Africa the pre-eminent power in this brave new world?' Already Malan's tenure in office had seen South Africa rise on the world stage, with numerous alliances, trade treaties and the like signed. There had even been a war....

yes that's what needs to be done Malan thought to himself, reaching across the large mahogany desk grabbing at the telephone on the right hand side of his desk, one of five he had on the desk to help conduct the affairs of state. 'The Foreign Minister' he barked into the phone with his hot preacher's voice, rising to a cresendo to shout 'now!' before slamming down the phone back into its cradle. Malan sat back, gulping down the remainder of his brandy and pouring another.

Within 15 minutes the redwood doors at the office entrance were pushed aside, Jeremy Irons, Malan's chief aide ushered in the Foreign Minister, Hans McCorsker, a strapping man who had spent the best part of his early adulthood on farms in Beuchenwald before entering politics just before the start of the Second World War. "What is it boss?' McCorsker asked as he stalked into the room, taking a seat in what seemed like effortless motion.

'Need to talk about a few things with you McCorsker' Malan answered

'Sure thing boss, what's up?'

'Socrota, we have the island, just did a deal with the Greeks through the EHA'

'Thats great sir, but wha....' Malan cut him off with a glare

'Whats wrong is that this island is just too damn small. Its great for a forward base, but it wont support anything of value, we need to think about expanding'

'I see the problem sir. We could always take the former Yemeni state to the north. This would give us the south-western corner of the Arabian penninsula, with all the oil that would entail.'

'mmmmmm, do we want to get involved with the ragheads?'

'Sir, that is a question that I just don't know the answer for.'

'Okay, Okay... what about the Soviets, have they done anything to worry about?'

'Well sir there is that confrence in Madrid that the Spainish have pretty much covered. There is also talk about another expansion of the Soviet army and air force, other than that nothing of interest however'

'Good, it all continues to the master plan, FOR SOUTH AFRICA' Malan exclaimed!

'FOR SOUTH AFRICA!' McCorskey returned and stalked out the door.

Indeed all was going well. Soon South Africa would have even more oil and another base in a strategic point in the world that was secured from foreign interventions. That and the Soviets in Germany, Malan's one true perceived threat was still doing nothing of value to be worried about in South Africa. Indeed as time went on the Soviet postion would grow weaker and it would only be a matter of time that the Soviets themselves would be consigned to the dustbin of history

Now however it was time for the royal gala dinner, with the King. Malan shuddered, another night of trying to keep the King from embarrassing both the nation and the royal institutions, a full time job in itself.

Boston, Massachusetts

When he opened his eyes, at first, Jack York thought he was in heaven. After all, everything was white. There was a bright light above him... His bed was in white sheets... He was wearing a white uniform... And there was someone else wearing white, standing above him...

The person in white was saying something... He had trouble understanding it... Was it in some kind of angel language...?

He saw two men enter the white room he was in. One was in the white that the first person was wearing, the other in green...

Both men came up to him... The one in white was shining something in his eyes... The green one was... Talking to him...?

"Sir?" He said.

Sir? Oh, yeah. He was in the military, right?

"Sir?" The man in green repeated.

He saw something on the one in white... A cross...? A red cross...?

Oh. He was in a hospital.

Oh. He was alive.

He was alive.

Huh.

Everything came into focus then, every memory from that day came flooding back.

He looked again at the man in green. It was Randolph Metzinger, his second-in-command.

"Ugh..." He groaned. "Randolph?"

"Sir." Metzinger said.

"How long have I been out?" He asked.

"About a week and a half, sir." Metzinger responded.

A week and a half...?

"Did you catch him, Randolph?"

"He resisted, sir. We had to kill him." York nodded. That was good enough. He would have preferred to kill the bastard himself.

"Who was it?" He asked.

"Just some suit. He worked for Hatfield, and was a known member of the League."

The League. God damn the League. They had presented the most trouble in the past few years.

York looked to the doctor. "How am I?"

The doctor was writing something down on a clipboard. The question seemed to surprise him. "Hmm? Oh, you're fine. Well, now anyways. You slipped under a few times during the surgery, but we got you back out."

York nodded, and tried to sit himself up. He felt something tearing inside his chest, and flopped back down.

"You're probably not going to want to do much for a while, sir." The doctor said. "You'll probably need a few weeks rest before you can get up and move around without any complications."

Metzinger looked at him. "You're real lucky, sir."

York nodded. "I guess I am..." He thought a moment. How many more times would he get as lucky as he had? Probably not many.

"You said the guy who did this was a League man?" York asked. Metzinger nodded. "For now, I want you to keep tabs on every registered member of the League. We don't want them trying anything like this again, on me or anybody else." Metzinger nodded again.

"Any other news?" York asked. "Duncan been trying anything while I've been out?"

"No, sir." Metzinger said. "In fact, Duncan seems to be laying low lately. We don't know what it means."

York scowled a bit. "It probably means he's going to try something big soon. Increase security a bit. Put some patrols in the sewers, too. We had trouble with those when the conflict was still in Boston. We need to make sure they stay clear of any terrorists."

"Yes sir." Metzinger said. "Will there be anything else, sir?"

York thought a moment. "No, I don't think so." Metzinger stood up, saluted York, and began walking out.

"Wait!" York said. "On second thought, get me a piece of paper and something to write on."

An orderly brought him a pen and a clipboard. He started writing.

To Richard Herring

From Jack York

I am sure you will be pleased to hear that I am alive and well. As you probably know, there has been a recent attempt on my life. Due to this, I feel the need to increase security around Boston, both for my sake and the sake of every citizen who might be in danger from attack by members of the insurrection. Therefore, I would that your company and technical experts from the military work together to work on some form of device which might be used to assist in visual surveillance of the city. My experts will provide you with the technical details, if you accept my offer. I assure you that accepting this offer will be fore the best of every citizen of the Confederacy who remains loyal.

Peace, Order, and Freedom.

He handed the message to Metzinger. "Give that to Herring." Metzinger nodded, saluted, and walked out of the room.

The doctor came over to him, holding something in his hand and a cup full of water.

"Medicine." He said. York looked at him suspiciously. How did he know he was not being poisoned? For all he knew, the doctor was member of the insurrection...

He sighed to himself. That was nonsense, and he knew it. He took the water and the pills, and swallowed both. His suspicions came back to him a second later, and he felt that he might regret taking those pills later.

The doctor, a smile on his face, left the room.

York could not stop thinking about why that doctor might be smiling.

For several years now the government of the Kenyan people has refused outside access to their nation and contact with outside world. They do not seek to participate in world trade, help those that are less fortunate or subscribe to the international ideals of human rights, justice and world peace.

We cannot allow this to continue any further. We have placed the Kenyan government on notice and we shall ensure their particpation in world affairs takes place. We will no longer have a hermit black republic on our northern borders.

The Union of South Africa would like to propose that the armed services of France and South Africa get together to hold a joint-training exercise in the Irish Sea. This exercise would have elements of the navy, air force and army involved and would heighten our military prepardness for when the Soviets cross the Rhine as we expect them to do so.

Only by honing our skills can our troops be superior in combat to the untrained peasants of Soviet occupied Germany.

Chancellor Kraus Delgado was waiting patiently for the report. It would be one of the most important reports he would ever recieve or any person on Earth would ever recieve: The World Report. The report was a secret document edited and made by all government agencies, two universities, seven major think thanks, and the top two leaders of Parliament, with final edits made by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.

The World Report was a series of status updates of the "world situation" and predictions and possible plans of action for the future. The Report cost $50 million to make, and it would most likely never be done again. The predictions inside were expected by the Chancellor to be (according to one of his aides) 98% correct.

His top security adviser walked in the room holding a medium-sized document with a memo attached to the top. It was from the International Affairs Secretary telling the Chancellor that he believed the predictions were 95% correct, but still saying they are very reliable.

He read one more part of the memo: "These predictions on some levels change depending on Spain's actions".

He opened the report to the first of its 41 pages. Already, it shocked him.

Somewhere near the border of India and the North

The last large warlord, Billy Orey, in this part of India sat there, very pleased with him self. He was happy to learn that the King remembered him from the old days. He had managed to make a deal that included him living in peace and making a hefty profit selling drugs to the people of India. He sipped his wine and motioned for a girl to come near, though her trip was interrupted by the telephone ringing, it had been a special line delivered by a General. It was a gift to discuss the new crime that would rule the world and make billions. He slapped the girl away and heard her shuffle away humiliated. He answered the phone, " Hello again, how is the work going?" A different person answered the phone, " Well hello, I am taking the Kings calls for now. He said to give you a message."
The warlord took a sip of wine and waited for the man to give the message, a rude gesture introduced purposely.
" Very well then, you have made this all the more enjoyable. I qoute his majesty, ' Hello scum, it seems that you are the same as always. Did you really think I would let you live when all of the others were killed, by ratting them out, do you think I would let you live? I currently have several agents infiltrating your hideout right now, I expect you to be dead in the next hour or two' " The warlord sat there and in a fit of rage shot a man in his chest. He screamed and threw a glass against the wall " Do you think you can *censored* with me? I'll kill you man, I'll kill your entire family with you watching. And thats after I torture you!" The man on the line sighed, " How barbaric, well there is one last line he wanted to give you, 'I hope the others you ratted out will give you a nice welcome, thank you for your help, have a nice day.' Anything else to say, scum?"

The warlord screamed and slammed the phone into the receiver, triggering a button in the device, triggering a large amount of explosives in the phone.

*Two hours later*

A man in a General's uniform stepped over the rubble and checked for the man. He heard moaning and saw a small amount of blood in one corner of the room. He lifted a piece of rubble to find a coughing, burnt man with shrapnel embedded in his face and body. The man lifted the warlord and threw him into a clear space in the room. " Still alive, only one to survive my little device so far, crazy bugger." He motioned for two men to pick up and carry the man to a medical hospital set up in the perimiter. He walked out of the room and lit a cigar, " Hm, not too bad"

*Hour later*

The man walked up to the doctor who had a smirk on his face, it dissapeared a moment later "Is he going to live doctor?"

The doctor expressed a giggle and nodded, " Well he is going to live with a few problems sir. It seems half of his face was burned off and shrapnel was embedded in his face. And theres also another problem, well he had the phone in his lap when it exploded, so even if he picked up a girl, well you know what I'm talking about."

The man scowled and glared at the man, " What do you mean" " Well you know, when a man loves a woman very-" He screamed out in pain as the General kneed him in the privates, " Just shut up and tell me next time, can't waste any time right now."

Cape Town, South Africa

The King sat across the table, facing the Prime Minister and King of South Africa. " Now, what is there to talk about? I would not have having this meeting if there was nothing important. So, tell me of the other nations and another thing, when shall you ship the new Jet fighters to India. We supplied some of our own scientist to the program if you remember. :)"

NEWS!!!

The expansion into India is complete, with barely any territory left to conquer, India is contemplating what to do after that.

Production of fighters and tanks have been reported along with the full utilization of military productions. 440 Fighters along with 120 Bombers. This is also coupled with 375 Comet Class Tanks. In Naval news, 8 Flower Class Corvettes have been made along with 8 Malan Class Carriers.
10 Indian Class Corvettes will be started on and will take 11 moths to complete.

Prime Minister Malan looked back at his 'soverign' the figurehead monarch of the Union of South Africa and the King of India, head of the House of Windsor. 'Your Majesty, the plans for the Hawk pattern turbo-jet fighters will be given to you personally in a public cermony at the end of your stay. This will show the South African public of the importance that India and South Africa have towards each other and the need for co-operation between our two leading Commonwealth nations.'

The King looked onto his South African Prime Minister with something approaching gratitude. Indeed, he thought, India may have more people, and thus more labour, South Africa had more expertise, scientists and technology at their disposal. Together the two nations should be unchallengable.... the future for the Windsors after the decade of trouble known as the fall, looked bright once more.

Grand Chamberlain Wang Jia was not in a pleasant mood. As he made his way steadily through the stacks of reports from the Foreign Mandarinate, a picture was beginning to form, and it wasn't a picture that the Grand Chamberlain particularly liked. Despite the success that the New Kingdom was enjoying in reviving itself after the Da Huo, it needed more growth, and the only way to achieve the growth it truly needed was to expand. He had hoped that the example of success set by the New Kingdom would make accepting its rule in exchange for a taste of that success a more appetizing prospect than it was proving to be. Despite all of their diplomatic overtures and gestures of goodwill, the other major settlements and warlords, Qingdao excluded, refused to voluntarily enter into union with the New Kingdom. A fundamentally peaceful man by his nature, the Grand Chamberlain had hoped to avoid conquest whenever possible, so as not to become simply another warlord scrabbling for his piece of power. Thusly, he was now faced with a rather unfortunate choice.

He did not have to think for long, however, as despite his own qualms, he understood what was necessary for ensuring the future of the nation with which he had been entrusted. Setting the remaining reports aside, he began penning several new missives to be sent out, in order to prepare for what was to come in the following months. Nothing so broad that he needed an Edict from The Sovereign, but if that is what it came to he would do it. Even still, he would need to discuss it with Him before things proceeded much further, though he had no doubts that The Sovereign would agree with his assessment of the situation. That was why He had made him Grand Chamberlain after all...

"Zhou Dan!"

His secretary peaked his head into the room somewhat timidly. As much as Huang Long might have a reputation for being frightening when angry, within the walls of the Central Mandarinate, Wang Jia's reputation was much more infamous. Considering the mood the reports he had been reading had put him in, he wasn't terribly surprised that Zhou Dan was treading lightly around him.

"Zhou Dan, I need you to get these processed and sent out before the end of the day, first priority." He said to his subordinate, who took the folded missives from and turned to begin the bureaucratic process before the Grand Chamberlain had a second thought. "Zhou Dan, what can you tell me about the status of the Special Project?"

At this, Zhou Dan cringed somewhat, which Wang Jia took as a sign that the answer was not going to be to his liking. "Grand Chamberlain, sir, the last I had heard the engineers were predicting anywhere from eight months to two and a half years to actual production..." Zhou Dan winced, preparing for an onslaught of vicarious abuse from the Grand Chamberlain. Preparation which proved to be wasted as he merely snorted and sighed, "Blast, we could really use a few for what we're about to do."

The sudden absence of the bile he had been expecting putting him off guard, Zhou Dan's curiosity was sufficiently peaked to ask, "and what is that?..."

The Grand Chamberlain half-smiled, but only half, and turned to look out of his window over the burgeoning Xianyang skyline, "We need a dramatic example, and we need legitimacy, so I say that we take both in a single stroke..."

"We march on Beijing."

The arrival of the newly minted King of Australia has aroused intense discussion among Australians, as the country was shocked by both the demise of the previous monarch and the sudden appearance of a new one. The government's readiness to accept this new king as a valid successor to the House of Windsor confused the situations further. Still, most Australian is fine with the decision of a new ceremonial Head of State and most people considered the membership of a worldwide "Commonwealth" sounds cool. However, some thinks otherwise and seek to express their opinion in a rather public manner...

Circular Quay, Sydney, Australia

King John was greeted by a huge crowd when he came down from his ship. Most of the people present looks nice and happy with the visit of a 'foreign' monarch.

Unluckily, the peaceful atmosphere was shattered when banners with pharses like "All hail the Australian Republic!" and "Australia is Australian's Australia! " were suddenly unvealed. Most of the crowd present 'booed' and 'wooed' the protesters to express their disguise at such rude behaviour, but the protesters couldn't be removed as they did nothing but showing the banners, rendering the security force helpless and without any excuse to take them away.

'I am terribly sorry, Your Majesty!'The PM frozed as the diplomatic trimuph suddenly degenreated into a political scandel.

It was becoming clear to von Rohr that the brigands in Texas were not about to flee the scene. Indeed scouts informed they had brought up two battleships to scour the coasts and fresh men were arrived every week from the sea. This was interesting, apparently these bandits were pirates as well, perhaps from Cuba or Mexico. They spoke English well enough though, well, after a fashion. Regardless, their place of origin was of no importance. Their heretical and covetous nature was evident for all too see. The Archbishop had agreed there was to be a crusade, and efforts were being made to put things in order.

As orders were completed in far off Chicago and other cities, large volumes of war materials were being ferried down the Mississippi. Great stables had been built for the Order's many horses next to great parks and depots which stored the new Justice tanks and other vehicles. The Justice tanks were equipped with hand-holds for the purpose of carrying armoured knights to the fray. It wasn't known exactly how numerous the bandits were in the province of Texas, but it was suspected they would fall swiftly before the might of the Order.

There was some annoyance in Milwaukee that the Massachusettians seemed intent on forming some diplomatic carve up of the continent. That no doubt boded ill. The twin coasts would no doubt seek to benefit at the expense of Wisconsin and ensure their deviant beliefs flourished throughout the Americas. They would likely seek support from the wider world to pursue their goals. It was thus judged vital that Texas were pacified before any diplomatic carve up was entered into.

"I'll be the messanger of bad news, Mr. Minister." A guy from Holden stood up and gestured to all others. "The clean-up and restoration of our Melbourne plants took much longer than expected. We can't start armored vehicles till at least six months later."

A bespectaled figure from CAC took over the presentation as the Minister signed and waved at the Holden representatives "We've just re-start the productions of P-51 as per WWII US blueprints, but the first unit won't be produced till about three months later."

"The Sydney Dockyards is fully occupied with the two DDs ordered and other civilian shipbuilding projects."The head enginner from Sydney Docks continued.

"So basically, I've to report to the PM and the Parliament that the expansion of ADF has fallen at least six months behind?!"The Minister almost snapped, but killing the massenger.

"Calm down, sir, at least small arms, ammunitions, artillery and motor vehicles production is right on track and we now have two more divisons."The Army Liaision Offcier tried to placate his boss.

"I hope that's enough to satisfate the press and Parliament." Dedmen signed and did a faceplam.

To the government on Vancouver Island
From Union of South Africa

We would like to open cordial diplomatic relations between our two government and enquire on the possibility of conducting mutually beneficial trade.

Three nations, now.

California, Japan, and now South Africa.

The Olympic expansion plan was gaining more support as Roberts and Jones campaigned for it. These messages from other nations were fueling the fire. Various people throughout the political scene were calling for the annexation of all of Washington, and British Columbia, too.

The division in Parliament was not, mainly, along party lines. The Evangelist Party was fully in favor; many Democrats, Republicans, and even Nationalists were, too.

The most recent total in Parliament had been 25 to 25.

Many were eagerly awaiting the result of further debate and the news of South Africa. And the vote came...

26 to 24 in favor.

Diplomatic relations with California were already in place, and an ambassador would be sent to Japan; not South Africa, yet, because of the distance.

And the army was being mobilized for--forceful, if need be--subjugation.

Industrial Expansion

Even as France is expanding into Quebec, Industrial Parks are being established in the new territory. The French are relatively silent on the reasons why. All they are saying is that it is good for Quebec. However, France has also added another 10,000 troops, stating that they are for the safety of Quebec.

We are honored by the arrival of His Majesty.
-----------------------------------------------------------

King John I was smiling until then, but after the protesters revealed themselves, he frowned. He raised his hands to quiet the people down long enough for him to talk. "Let all the people of Austrailia learn that I hold no soverignity over this grand nation of yours. Clearly, I feel anger at this protest." John looked at one of the protestors with a measuring stare, " What has compelled you to do this, an act that could have made an enemy as fast as you can say pollywock. I am concerned that you could make a protest such as this to greet someone you have never met, regardless of how uncertain you are of him." He turned to Prime Minister and with a smirk, " Am I going to have this type of greeting everywhere I go?"

The American sat down at the table and laid his briefcase down. He stared at Minister von Hauser from behind round spectacles with barely concealed contempt. Buzzing from the fan overhead broke the harsh silence, but not the heat. Minister von Hauser felt warm sweat trickle down his face, but did not give up his Prussian resolve by acknowledging the heat. The American, however, seemed totally unaffected by the heat, even as he sat at the table in a dark pinstripe suit.

"I will be brief," announced the American at the table. Unclipping his briefcase, he spoke quickly, "My name is Albert Rogers, the regional manager for Ford."

von Hauser held up a hand. "Wait," he said, "You mean the American motor company?"

Mr. Rogers looked annoyed at the German for interrupting him. "Yes, the motor company. There is only one Ford, especially in the rainforest. I'll have you know, though, that we are much more than a motor company, though. Necessity requires in. I am here from Forlandia, our headquarters on this continent." He stopped and, looking slightly more human, continued more quietly, "This may be our headquarters for the world. We have been slightly separated from the rest of the world for some time."

"The plantations of Santarem were in disrepair when we found them!" exclaimed von Hauser. "We found the rubber trees, scores of them, but only a few people."

"Santarem was only the initial location for our rubber production. Once that succeeded, we created a vulcanization plant to the west, along with barracks and some fields for crops. Mr. Ford wanted us to become a self sufficient European-American colony in the middle of the Amazon." He flipped the briefcase around and showed some pictures and maps of the Ford compound. "We have some five thousands people living in Fordlandia, along with maybe ten thousand indigenous residents that farm the lands around our compound. Our factories have been idle for some time, but we retain all of our expertise."

The minister leaned back in his chair, thinking about what the American had just told him. More importantly, he was thinking about how turn this to his advantage. "Mr. Rogers, we will reconnect this settlement with the rest of the world. Materials and workers will be provided for your enterprises. The Integralist Party will also allow you to build factories in the major cities with little tax burden. In exchange, we will annex your territory, though you will retain autonomy as per your special circumstances."

The American, without blinking, demanded, "I want power in this Party."

von Hauser guffawed. With a hearty laugh, he replied, "Ja, you are a man I can deal with! Fine, you will be granted the same authority as a Party coordinator within your region and be given a Ministry post. Industrial Affairs, or some such I'm sure. How's that?"

Once again the discontented have marched across Ireland, intent on showing the Irish government, which they believe to be a puppet of South Africa, their anger.
Strangely, though, this week's protests have not just taken place in Southern Ireland, but also Ulster. Unionists in Ulster are also marching on the streets, determined to remove the 'British King in India' from his position as their 'Grand Duke'.
In Ulster, things turned ugly. The police sought to contain the protests, which quickly degenerated into violent riots. Reports indicate rioting and looting is still widespread in the area.

In Ireland, however, a strange thing happened. The police, positioned to halt the oncoming horde of protestors, laid down their weapons and marched with them.
When even the police begin protesting, the government should realise that they are doing something very, very wrong.

Political parties were also supporting the marches, seemingly taking advantage of the opportunity to appeal to this disaligned voters. Eoin Gambon, spokesperson for the Irish Union Socialist Party, said,
"It's appalling what the other parties are doing, exploiting the voters in order to strengthen their position. Our party supports the marches because we want true Irish independence, not because we want to gain sway with the electorate."

At the Palacio de La Moneda, Santiago, Chile

On any normal day, Chile would be a country in bloom around this time. After all, it is approaching summer. People would be going about their daily lives in a way that would have echoes elsewhere. However, today was no ordinary day in Chile. For here, a major event in Chilean history has occurred, almost bringing to an end one of its bloodier moments.

Here, in Chile’s Presidential Palace, known as the Mint Palace (“La Moneda” in Spanish), a major peace treaty and interim constitution has come into force with 100 of the major “clan” leaders signing it today. For Chile, this was a major milestone. After all, Chile, for about several years now, has been gripped in the throes of civil war and its resulting anarchy, poverty, and destruction. Santiago, the capital, was almost entirely destroyed. 4/5 of the population have either died or fled. Most infrastructure has been laid to ruin, as is the Chilean “economy”. No one knows what started the civil war, but most people knew that the war was pointless. Thus, having to come to an agreement on ending the civil war was all but a tiny first step towards a Chile that seemed close to normalcy.

Yet it was one man who managed to set the agenda for years to name. David Salvadór, one of the members of the newly created collective presidency, decided to give a speech on the treaty. After calling today a “historic day which will live in eternity”, he said that “now is the time to begin the process of healing and reconciliation in the Chilean Nation”. He vowed that Chile “within 20 or 30 years will be a different Chile than what we are used to. The Chile we remember now is a ruin; the Chile of the future will be a much better place, a Garden of Eden in a sea of darkness. As such, we all must work together to build a better Chile and overcome all odds that may be stacked against us.” He also maintained that Chile would not be involved much in the affairs of the world (what he called a “perpetual neutrality”) since he said that it was “merely a distraction”. This was a radical departure from what Chileans were used to, yet David claimed that it was absolutely necessary. He even invoked the name of what Chileans called “El Libertador” – the Chilean national hero, Bernardo O’Higgins – claiming that this would be what he would want.

After the speech, those present gave David a huge applause. He spoke the conscience of Chileans, and he, along with everyone else present at the signing of what was now called the Treaty of La Moneda, were determined to make a dream into a reality.

The battle for the Northeast continues! Thousands of valiant nationalists battle alongside the government forces against the rebels and communists. Several decisive wins around the city of Recife, plus a crippling naval blockade, have isolated the urban rebels there. Cut off from their aid in the countryside, their defeat is clearly imminent.

Warfare in the rural areas, though, rages as bad as it ever has. Though the local nationalists have taken heavy tolls, the Integralist cause will prevail. President Evandro Lombardi has pledged to send an additional 5,000 troops, bringing total government troop level to some 12,000 soldiers, plus a whole battle group of tanks. Party marshalls have started organizing the areas held by government forces, to better integrate them once the fighting is over.

The Manchu people had been one of the most brutal dynastic rulers of Modern China. the last ruling Dynasty forced the Chinese to wear distinctive dress so that they would be separated from the Manchu rulers. the Chinese were oppressed for much of this time, and fled.

However, the Japanese were not that pleasent to the Chinese either. but Japan did not wish to harm the Chinese.

"Send out Propaganda wagons with our troops in Manchuria. tell them to speak, in Chinese dialects, that any Chinese men who wish to join Japan and live as a free citizen against the Manchu is welcome to do so. it may not work like we hope, but at least it will quell some of the resistence"

New Legislation announced by the National Assembly of the Union of South Africa

Bantu Education Act

Codifies several aspects of the apartheid system. Its major provision is the enforced separation of races in all educational institutions. Even universities are made 'tribal', and all but three Missionary schools have chosen to close down when the government no longer would subsidize their schools. No science or mathematics is taught under Bantu education, emphasis is placed on agriculture as the National Party government wants black people to be educated farmers, not scientists or mathematicians.

The introduction of Bantu Education has led to a huge reduction of government aid to the already ailing learning institutions of black Africans. The law has forced institutions under the direct control of the state. The National Party now has the power to employ and train teachers as they see fit. Black teachers' salaries in 1953 are extremely low and this has resulted in a dramatic drop of trainee teachers. The policy of Bantu (African) education is aimed to direct black youth to the unskilled labor market, to ensure white control and prosperity. All of the above is carefully orchestrated and implemented in the name of "God" by the powers that be. By controlling the media they have convinced the white electorate that the cause is "just" and it would greatly benefit blacks in South Africa.

Reservation of Seperate Amenities Act

The Act has enforced segregation of all public facilities, including buildings, and transport, in order to limit contact between the different races in South Africa. The Act also states that the facilities for different races did not need to be equal, and in practice, the best facilities were reserved for whites while those for other races are inferior.

Announcement from the governments of the Kingdom of Ireland and
The Grand Duchy of Ulster

Due to the recent unrest in both Dublin and Belfast, the governments of the Kingdom and the Grand Duchy have received communications from King John I. In this he has stated that he is more than happy to have a referendum be held on his status as to wether the current situation continues or if that Ireland and Ulster become republics.

Prime Minister Malan in Cape Town, South Africa has expressed his wishes for peace in the Emerald Isle, fully endorsing these referendums on behalf of the South African forces that remain in both Ireland and Ulster. These 15,000 soldiers are due to go back to South Africa in two years, after training both the Ulsterian and Irish armies.

The Crowd first quieted down when the King start to speak and then rejoiced loudly to signify their support for the wise opinion from their new Monarch. All Australian dignitaries present are bemused at this sudden outpouring of loyalist emotions.

"Republicianism has a long history in a Australia, Your Majesty."Sir William Mckell, Governor- General of Australia, snickered despite the seriousness of the occassion"My office has lost a lot of respect during the years of calamaties as we lost all connections with the outside world and the Empire. It's good to see I am too permissistic in my prsumption about my fellow Australians."

"The people of Australia remain quite anglophile at heart and this renewed assoication of a Commonwealth based on shared British heritage is widely welcomed.'The PM interjected his comment.

The city authorities has tighten up the security of Sydney due to the state visit of King John. NSW police has been put on high alert and the ADF had dispatched army units (Infantry and half tracks) to guard vital locations around the city. Therefore, the security forces arrived minutes after the first gunshot rang that startled the innocent public in the street.

About a dozen police officers rushed to the scene in police cruisers and take cover behind their vehicles. "This is the NSW police, cease and desist!"The Officer in charge announced with a loudspeaker.

Industrial Expansion

The recovery of Melbourne proved to be boon to the government as the city's vital industry and infrastructure remains largely intact. The heavy industry capacity of Australia received a major boast thanks to the recovey of major steel, automobile and other kinds of factories.

However, the development of industry means more power and raw material is needed. Therefore, the CSIR and the recently recovened University of Melbourne established a joint survey to scout for new mines, take account of the carrying capacity of the land, and search for the best zoning plan.

Furthremore, the Parliament has just passed the Snowy Mountain Act that formally signify the start of the ambitious Snowy Mountain Project. This big hydro project will establish a series of hydroelectric stations in the Snowy Mountains to irrigate the vast NSW plains and supplyn electricity. The time needed is 30 years, with new stations coming online about every 4 years.

Military Expansion

The recent expansion of the army to 4 divisions means the ADF now can push the boundary of recovery further with 2 divisions operations in the North and Weat. Recovery of Brisbane should be accomplished in 6 months.

Military Equipment Expansion

The DoD has anounced the award of new equipment orders to producers after a fierce tendering process. 120 Shermans, 450 M3 Halftracks, 48 P-51s, 24 B-26s, 1 Light Cruisers and 3 Frigates will be produced by the Australian Defence Production Consortium. The vehicles and aircrafts should completed in 1 year but the ships will take at least 2 years, due to the boon of demand civilian shipping.

Things were... interesting. Though one could not be certain, of course, Odinshrafn had reported that 'the risk for an EHA-Soviet War is up by 29%, and increasing'. And Viken, now, Viken was torn. Of course, a Communist dictatorship wasn't that palatable, and, in all honesty, their spheres of interest were more conflicting with Viken's then France's spheres of interest were conflicting with Viken's. But, on the other hand, Viken had been able to deal with the Soviets, and there was that entire British matter...
And there was the matter of Viken's military, as well.
All in all, one would have to lean towards neutrality... for now, at least.
Then again, no one considered a Soviet alliance at all plausible.

He looked at the clock. When it turned to 8:00am, he looked at everyone in the room, and signed the order to applause. People began to celebrate in the streets with chants of "The Coup is over!", "Off with Duncan's head". Chile

The National Assembly and the Junta of National Unity have approved a bill that would create a group of Self-Defence Forces to help patrol the nation's borders. Although Chile is a permanently neutral country (there is an article in the Chilean constitution that renounces aggression and that states that Chile will not wage war as a means of settling disputes), it is believed that a self-defence force is necessary due to the current international situation.

At the same time, though, a new immigration policy has been enacted. Though it is pretty liberal, part of it requires travel by sea to either Valparaíso or Puerto Montt. This is due to the current situation, where travel through any other means is considered (at the moment) to be dangerous. In addition, small-scale foreign investment has been legalized (though partnering with a local company is encouraged).

The Olympic expansion (OOC: Started on page 45) had been proceeding well. Use of the military had hardly been necessary; most of the inhabitants preferred a working government to the anarchy they had had.

Because of this, the Parliamentary elections had shown a slant toward those favoring expansion. The Evangelist Party significantly increased its share of seats, going from 2 to 3; the Democratic Party rebounded from 7 to 9; and the Republican Party increased from 17 seats to 18, tying the Nationalist Party, which held steady. The remaining two seats were won by the Homeland Party, representing the anti-expansion viewpoint. The Evangelist Party was very pro-expansion, but it was also devoted to Christian ideals; the Democratic Party seemed to be becoming a secular counterpart on this issue.

The old Democratic-Republican coalition is already being hammered out. This will be the last Parliament before a new executive election.

Structure of the Foreign and Colonial Ministry - Union of South Africa

Foreign and Colonial Affairs Minister

The current Minister for Foreign and Colonial Affairs is a Stephen Smith, member of the Nationalist Party, third highest member of the government, and member of the National Executive Cabinet. He is a diplomat of 15 years of experience and was an ardent advocate of South African neutrality in World War Two, in a country with both pro-German and pro-British sentimentalities in that era. A man of hard decisons and grudging compromise.

Foreign and Colonial Advisory Council

This council of which the Minister and both the undersecretaries of Colonial Affairs and Foreign Affairs are members is a 9 man panel that help forms South African foreign policy. At times the Prime Minister can join them, this happening more during times of exceptional diplomatic crisis.

Department of Alliances

This department takes care of the management of the large alliances of which South Africa is a member of. At the moment both the Eastern Hempishere Alliance and the Commonwealth of Independent Realms Organisation links are managed by this department.

Department of State

This department is perhaps the largest in the ministry. This department is responsible for the running of all the embassies around the world and the day to day diplomatic relations of the South African government to the outside world.

Department of Colonies

This department runs the expansion into new territory and the management of those territories that are currently deemed South African colonies. At the moment these colonies are Madgascar, Mauritius, the Indian Ocean Islands, the South Atlantic Ocean Island Dependencies and Socrata Island.

Department of Protectorates

This department manges the relations between South Africa and those governments which have been deemd South African protectorates. At the current time these protectorates are the Kingdom of Ireland, the Grand Duchy of Ulster and the Sultanate of Yemen.

Military Liason Council

Olympia, Greece

The first even, track and field, was about to begin, with the legend of Athens, Niko Colomni, and the Jet of Corinth, Mirkov Androvin, as well as the Selucid runner, Majid Al-Hasm all competing for the first. BAM! The gunshot was fired and the three men ran like bullets to around the field. Once. It was the Selucian in first. Twice. The Corinthian caught up aand took the lead. On the last run, The Athenian, way far behind and losing ground fast, decided to make one last push for the first, but lost it by a nose to the Selucian. Majid Al-Hasm won first in the Hellenic Games with the Athenian winning second and Corinthian winning third. The Selucian was given a glod medal and the laurel leaf and olive branch. The Athenian was given the Silver medal and the olive branch. The Corinthian was given the bronze medal.

Athens, Greece

Everything is proceding nicely, Raul.
Good, then a mission to Spain is imminent.
Um...there's already been one. They headed to Majorca. With 900 men, though. They're not gonna even reach Ebiza with that force.
WHAT!? Get the troops ready, our mafia army will help those troops!
How strong is the army, sire?
Hehe around 3,000 strong Spaniards and 1,000 strong Greeks.

Sofia, Bulgaria

Although the city was occupied and pacified, the countryside was not. The troops in the countryside were having a bloody hell of a time destroying the partisian units. The troops only conquered the South of the area and Sofia, leaving the fertile north undefended and barbaric. It would be another 7 months for all of it to stop.

Skopje, Macedonia

The President has called in and wishes that you join the republic as fast as you can. When do you believe that shall be?
Around another month, I hope.
Very well...

Colonel Gredenko's residence

Colonel Grendenko was one of the main NKVD Officers inside the city, in charge of propaganda and youth groups. Amelye watched from the car as he led a teenage girl up the stairs to his apartment. She laughed, this one would be suitably easy, considering the good Colonel was doing half of her and Denis's work for them. She grabbed her purse, which had everything they needed in it, while Denis tucked his guns and knifes in the coat he was wearing.

The pair walked up the stairs to the apartment, and Denis quickly picked the lock. They entered the apartment, but the Colonel was absorbed in the teenage girl on her knees in front of him that he didn't notice the pair until Denis put him in a choke hold, and Amelye kicked the girl in the face. they quickly blindfolded the Colonel, and Amelye said
"You know, usually we just kill everyone we find, but Management has asked us to do things a little differently. Its going to be so sad for the Soviet Union, when they find a young pioneer girl, violated in many unfortionate ways, and you, high as a fucking kite on Soma and Barbituates in the girls system. It will just look so wonderfully bad for the system."

Colonel Gredenko didnt have a change to say anything before he was forced to drink a glass of chemical tasting water. it wasent long before he began seeing a whole new world of colors and lights unfold before him. He then heard the girl struggling, and he heard the woman laughing
"Normally I would care if my husband was fucking another woman, but then again, I find his violence for the cause so wonderfully erotic." Then the colors and the Soma effects began to completely rip apart Colonel Gredenko's mind, and as he felt his sanity slip away, he knew even if he could remember his own name when they found him, they would never believe a thing he said.......

Outside, Denis made a call from a payphone
"This is the father of Anna Polianski, she was supposed to see Colonel Nikolai Gredenko about a job offer, but she is rather late, could you perhaps do something about it?"

France-General Overview

Civilian Production

France is doing well, and a growing middle class is snapping up cars, refrigerators and other luxury goods. Also, France is beginning on working on programs to lower the price of the television to make it even more affordable for the middle class. France has 3 Television stations in Operations, 1 shows sports, 1 shows Government News and Programming, and the 3rd has Entertainment.

Military Reserves

France has a trained reserve force of roughly 2,000,000 available personnel with training, though not all of them would receive modern equipment.

Quebec

France is working hard to develop Quebec, setting up Industrial Towns deep in the Interior, building new railines, highways, and radio stations to connect the various parts of the Colony.

Drugs/Crime

France is still working, without much success, to crack down on the Vietnamese Triads and Mr.Trans Company. However, the problem is expanded on as Mr.Tran has much of his assests in the remains of Switzerland and Indonesia/Indochina.

Chile

During all this, Chile is rebuilding itself. Many Chileans are now becoming politically involved, and it seems that the system of "consensus government" has proven to be successful. Thanks to new policies, Valparaíso and Puerto Montt have turned into truly cosmopolitan cities. The economy is slowly recovering as well, though still reeling due to the loss of its major industry - copper mining - and its severely-destroyed infrastructure. The infrastructure, however, is being rebuilt, though foreign assistance is still needed.

Soma violence on the decline

Some-related violence has continued to decline throughout most of the Union of South Africa, with the sizeable busts of ANC sponsored drug labs in several major cities and townships over the last few months. Soma supply has dropped markedley.

Federal Police Commissioner Georg Schultz has commented on the recent decline in the black market for Soma, stating that it could merely be a transitionary period as supply from ANC labs was prevented and those from French triad gangs on the rise.

New Three Year Plan announced by Prime Minister Malan

With the success of the three year plan that ended a month ago, the new three year plan has been announced, in what Prime Minister Malan has indicated might be his last plan. The last three year plan allowed the South African economy to grow by a staggering 56% over the duration of the plan and making the Union one of the few countries to be economically stronger that what it was before the fall.

The new three year plan focusses on the establishment of consumer industries that had been lacking somewhat, with the focus being on primary and heavy industries in the past. This is indeed welcomed with a South African car manafacturing plant slated, to compete with the French and Japanese models that have been the mainstay of the industry since the fall.

Innagural National Rugby Union premiership kicks off!

The innagural season of the National Rugby Union kicked off with a local derby in Cape Town between the Northern Cape Town Daemons and the South Cape Town Sharks. In a close fought match, the Sharks eventually came out on top 26 to 17, after a late comeback in the late second half by the Daemons just fell short of the line several times.

Attendance to the match was recorded at 35,000, proving that the NRU competition has a bright future ahead of it indeed.

International Games continues to gather momentum.

The planned International Games to be held in Cape Town in December this year continues to gather momentum with several nations agreeing to send teams to the games. So far the Kingdom of Ireland, the Grad Duchy of Ulster, Republic of Greece, Sultanate of Yemen and the Kingdom of India will join South Africa for the games.

The games remain open to all nations of the world, and South Africa requests that entires are posted before too long.

In another announcement the International Games Organising Committee has annouced the addition of fencing to the events calendar.

WAR!

Decleration of War from the Union of South Africa upon the degenerate 'government' of Kenya

For several years now since the apocalyptic event known as the fall, the people of Kenya have lain under a clique of military-communist usurpers seeking to prevent all outside contact with the region, causing widespread famine and abuse of human rights for the average Kenyan citizen.

The Union of South Africa cannot stand for this anymore, and thus has issued a decleration of war against the Kenyan 'government' The purpose of this war is to remove these criminals from power and allow the Kenyan people free choice in wether to retain their independence under a new more ethical government, or to join the Union of South Africa as a province of the said union.

South African Military Movement

The 3rd and the Indian Ocean fleets are to engage in a complete blockade of Kenya, supported by 4 Malan class carriers conducting sorties.

The South African air foce is moving the 1st Air Wing (50 spitfires) and the 1st Turbojet Air Wing (45 Hawks) to help the 60 odd spitfires from the malan class carriers to gain air superiority over Kenya.

The 4th, 5th and 6th SAS Regiments are to be deployed in Kenya and disrupt communications, transportation and generally weaken Kenyan defensive networks and resolve.

Meanwhile the 3rd Army (40,000 infantry), along with the 1st, 2nd, 5th and 10th Reservist Armies (40,000 reserves each), the 1st and 2nd Cavlary Regiments (3000 cavlary), and assorted vehicles including over 400 assorted tanks will cross into Kenya from the Union, through the unclaimed zone in Tanzania.

The Frenchman was sleeping against the rock, sunglasses on his eyes, hat on his head, FN-4 in one hand and cheap beer bottle in the other. One of the South African toughes said
"Is he even alive"
"Of course he's alive"
"Jesus, they said he was a professional, but he's just a drunk"
Then the mans eyes snapped open, his gun jumped out, and a single shot rang out. The first south African mans hat flew off, bullet in it.
"HOLY SHIT"
Adrian Blanche said

"I was asleep until you two started fucking around. stay fucking focused, our objective should be here in a little bit. I've got him covered, I need you two to handle the fucking guards."
The 2 men, slightly rattled, went back to their rifles, which were propped against a tree, and Adrian Blanche went back to sleep. An hour later, the men heard a rumble coming from down the road, and a single shot rang out. The man in the middle car's passanger seat slumped, a hole in his head. The South Africans saw Adrian Blanche with a scoped Winchester Rifle slung over his sholder. That was their que, and they began pumping rounds into the lead car.

Mr.Blanche removed a detonator, and thumbed a switch. The roadside bomb went off, blowing the whole process to small pieces, making the killings harder to trace. The Kenyan Defense Minister was dead.

I, Guangxu
August 4th, 2008, 06:26 AM
There were an awful lot of seedy dives and filthy clubs in Qingdao. Speak-easies and "dance halls" were a dime a dozen in a major port like this. Even still, there were some places that even the rats were too posh for, and this was one of those places. The Black Lotus Garden really tried much too hard to sound sophisticated and mysterious, one look at the half burned-out neon sign that served to advertise it would give you a pretty good idea of what you'd find inside. As it was presently pushing six in the morning, most of the club's already sparse clientèle had gone to find an alley or a brothel to pass out in. As it was there were only five people left in the establishment, if it really deserved to be called that.

In the corner was a prostitute who, like the club itself, was really trying much too hard to look half her age. Next to her sat her mark of evening, really her mark of most evenings, an elderly longshoreman and rickshaw puller, as they passed the opium pipe back and forth between them, oblivious to the coming dawn. The bartender, an almost comically obese man, dutifully served drinks to the last two patrons at the bar, unwilling to send them home so long as he could get some coin from them. At one end of the bar sat a one-eyed pimp with green teeth and a laugh like a death-rattle, leering out of the corner of his good eye at the couple in the corner and tossing back shots between drags on the two cigarettes he clutched in his greasy fingers. Finally, on the opposite end sat a man looking much too young for a place as old as this, his unkempt mess of black hair and his aviator sunglasses obscuring anything his eyes might betray. Why he would even wear shades like that in a place this dark was a mystery, but no one seemed to want to ask him about it, nobody wanted to ask anybody much of anything in here.

The man in the sunglasses was slowly pulling on a cigar that was likely more paper than tobacco, and nursing a cheap knock-off of the city's famed tsingtao beer. He rather abruptly became aware of two men standing behind him. It wasn't the mirror on the bar that told him this, it was much too filthy to make anything reasonable out of it, it was just a feeling he got, and his feelings were usually right. He also had a feeling he knew what this was about, and as such dipped into his pocket and rummaged about for some of his tiny friends. He didn't know exactly what combination of drugs he was taking when he withdrew his hand and swallowed its contents, washing the mystery pills down with the last backwashed dregs of his pisswater tsingtao, but he knew what his daddy had always told him; "Never go into a job with a clear head, you might do something stupid..."

Wheeling about on the groaning bar-stool, he leaned against the bar and took in his newfound silent entourage. He was pretty sure an elephant would look less out of place in a ballet than these two looked in the present locale. All suits, glasses, and briefcases, the gentlemen (for that was the only word he could think of to describe them) clearly regarded their surroundings with a combination of odious contempt and nervous trepidation. They were way out of their element, but they were here to do a job; he sensed the professionalism about them. One of them, it didn't seem to matter which as they looked nearly identical, finally spoke.

"You're Hei Qian." It was a statement, not a question.
"I'm called that by some," He responded, "it depends on who's asking. If you're here from Big Biao, I already told him I'm not paying for that sorry excuse for a hooker, she was crap." He took a long drag on his cigar and leaned further back against the bar. Feeling it would be bad form to blow smoke in faces of men he'd just met, he contented himself with idly blowing rings towards the crumbling ceiling. Clearly flustered, one of them returned "Um, no... We're not, I mean... Look, we have a business proposition for you." As he thrust a sheaf of papers towards the man called Hei Qian. The man took them and began leafing through them, his neutral expression never shifting even once. When he'd finished, he looked at the men and ties and said "And I thought I was the stoned one. You guys have to be kidding."
One of the men in suits arched an eyebrow at the man in the improbable sunglasses and said "Do we look like we're kidding?" Prompting Hei Qian to change expression for the first time, breaking into a wide, wide grin, and responding "No, and I'm loving it. You two, or rather your employer, have got a deal. I have a couple of caveats though, and seeing how badly you seem to want this, you're going to give them to me. I want two thousand up front, right now, in cash... ...oh, and I want your hat."

One of the men promptly dipped into his pockets and withdrew a wad of bills. "Our employer anticipated that you'd want a cash advance, I'm prepared to give you three thousand. But," the man faltered for a moment, puzzled, "why do you want my hat?"
Hei Qian only grinned wider, "No, no, not your hat, his hat..." he said, pointing to the other suit-clad anonymous, "and because I think its a very cunning hat and I want it. It'll make me cut a very dashing Bogart, don't you think?" The man only shook his head and continued counting the bills, "Whatever, have it your way. Li, give him your hat."
The suit-clad-but-no-longer-so-anonymous Li rather confusedly removed his hat and handed it to Hei Qian, who promptly plopped the snappy fedora on top of his untidy mop of hair. The still-unnamed man finished counting the bills, clipped them together, and handed the wad to Hei Qian along with his briefcase, stating "There are some tools and supplies inside should you need them." Hei took the bills but pushed the briefcase back, "Naw, I work best with my wits. I'll see you when the job's done... Or not... Whatever... Nice knowing you..." getting up from the bar and striding out of the dingy club in his fancy new hat.

After he'd gone, the two men returned to a more reputable part of the city, neither totally sure what to make of the encounter they'd just had. Finally, Li spoke, "Why again do we need him specifically?"
After a long pause his partner responded, "Because believe it or not he's one of the best in the business."
Li, incredulous, retorted, "Him!? The man is clearly unstable, how is he going to do a job like this?!"
His parter only smirked, snorted, and then stated very simply,

"Because he's probably the only man in the world with enough balls to just walk up and steal a jet fighter... Moreover, he's probably the only man in the world capable of actually getting away with it..."

The unloading went fast, and the trucks dissapeared into the Australian underworld. However, Travis smile, he had more to do, as he had some...pleasure women, from China to break in tonight. It was more enjoyable then the unloading, that would be fore sure.

Organized crime had become a major problem in Australia after the re-opening of its borders to the world. The country remains relatively developed compared to other states in the region and the diverse ethnicity means every migrants can find a support base here...So are the triads, mafias, local gangs etc.

Melbourne is the worse among Australian cities, thanks to the presence of a busy port, diverse composition of its population and the Federal Government has not yet fully secured its dominance in the city after the recent recovery. Civil authorities is still being assembled and the ADF remains the military govornor of the cities, hence the presence of soldiers in the city.

While the army managed to stay relatively uncorrupted, the brass find it difficult to police the city with soldiers untrained as as police. That's why the organized crimes can thrive. But things are going to change.

Melbourne
Dockside

The Federated Ship Painters and Dockers Union has long been associated with the underworld. Criminals join the occupation an masse during WWII to avoid being drafted, as dockside workers were exempted from drafting. The Union gained bargaining power due to its control over thousands of able- bodied men and major transportation hubs. They operated like the mafia, with code of silence and revenges on informers.

However, organized crime cannot stand to the true might of the ADF and this is demostrated when the army forcibly reestablish full military control of the waterside and the docks under Emergency Powers Act and a full brigade is now charged to secure the docks. 24- hours patrols are established and all civilians are subjected to military searches before entering to work.

The Union of course didn't take such intrusion to their rights kindly, but 3000 bayonts are very good silencer of arguments. Massive protests are staged outside the docks but all transportations to and form the docks are escorted by the military.

Such drastic measures temper the previously ruthless importation of drugs and illegal immigration, but the direct military control of a portion of the city is offensive to the population. Nobody knows how long can the Feeral government maintain such heavy-handed tactics.
