In the interest of giving a visual representation of the worldwide devestation that would result from an alien invasion as depicted in ID4 produce a map that shows the following list of cities. What I'm looking for is basically a world wide map that shows a dot at each of the cities thats destroyed or damaged.

Thanks for the compliment but I couldnt do it. The vast majority of the cites I list here arent "official'-ie offical meaning they are actually listed as being destroyed in the movie or books. This is just speculation I made for a ID4 aftermath thread on the old board.


Does anyone know if there is some online "technology" to easily do this map?

Should have been at least a few cities in Central Asia that should have been destroyed by the city killer ships. Toshkent (largest city in the 'stans), Samarqand, Ashgabat, Buxoro(Bukhara), and Almaty come to mind.

Also, why don't the aliens that run those ships have a name, they never had a name in the movie. I propose that they should be referred to as the Vogons, and they are here to clear away the Earth to make way for a hyper-space expressway.:D:D I do agree that more cities in Russia could have been destroyed as well, maybe like Novosibirsk, Irkutsk, and maybe Vladivostok.

You guys have to remember that they were just getting started.They would have eventually gotten around to destroy the other major cities. Remember the line were General Grey said at that point-on July 3rd-they were expecting the destruction of all the major cities worldwide in the next 72 hours.

I seem to recall that the general was saying every major city would be destroyed in the next 36 hours. Irregardless, there in lies the rub, the fact that each of the city killer ships are 15 mile diameter discs, about 2 miles thick at the center of the disc, that is a whole crap load of mass plowing through the atmosphere, w/ the net effect that each disc as they move are pushing huge masses of air out ahead of them, and quite possibly creating their own weather systems in the process, and that in itself could create a whole lot of collateral damage.

Good idea. Speaking as a Denver resident I think they would center on the D&F Clock Tower-which interestingly enough is modeled after St Mark's Campanile in Venice.

Helsinki Cathedral would be the most spectacular thing to be blown apart at first strike, but it's not quite in the "center" of the city. Pasila TV tower is a bit too north, so my bets would be either the central railway station or the Finnish National Parliament Building. Or maybe a compromise between these two (I'm thinking of the Kiasma modern art museum :D)...

EDIT: Okay, I would go for the Parliament Building. All those granite tons would make the perfect shrapnel :D

You are right beacause the city killer was destoyed before it could strike. The Sydney Opera House was probaly the intended target that they would center on.

Right but on the list Sydney is one of the 36 cities that wasnt destroyed but only damaged by the city destroyer. So the Opera House survived. As did the pyramids and some of the other landmarks on the final grouping of cities.

Hey guys this could be considered a companion thread to the ID4 aftermath thread. It has a pretty good map that portrays the path of the city destroyers.

Hmmm, for my two cents on landmarks to center around, in Seoul the biggest and most central location miiight be Yeouido Island, so either the national assembly building there or the KLI 63 Tower. You could hit Cheong Wa Dae (Blue House, Korea's pres. residence), but its a little far away from the center of the city. Either way, to really get the whole city, whatever these Acridi blast has to be able to cross a river about a kilometer wide at some points)

Pyongyang, you could blow up the dear leader's mausoleum (Ryugyong hotel is by far the tallest in the city, but it's been a hollow shell mostly since about 92. The mausoleum should be near dead center in the city (formerly Kim Jong-Un's residence)

Busan is a hard one, cuz there are no distinctive landmark buildings yet IIRC, and a lot of the high rises are/were either basic office towers or Korea's ubiquitous apartment blocks.

Lastly, knowing a bit of Tokyo's architecture (still on my to-go list), the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building is actually housed in one of the tallest if not the tallest high-rise in Shinjuku, downtown Tokyo. But that's gonna have to be a huge blast for the accie's, cuz tokyo as a whole is frickin' huuuuge.
