I think it might be AH if the Manchurian Candidate actually became president, but not in the current movie.

I Thought it was in the first place. First the convention takes pace in 1960- the candiidate mentions 8 years of bad times. Also, you have an alternate Joe Mccarthy in Iselin who makes his charges about Commies at a DOD press conference. Shaw comes hone in 1953 and the plot goes from there.

Apparently, they've moved it to the Gulf War. (sigh...more anti-Arabism) Personally, I'm skeptical about this remake.
