View Full Version : Challenge: Neutral Austria-Hungary during Cold War

Was it possible to re-unite several central European states into a neutral block in the post-war era? I'm thinking Austria, Hungary, Czechoslavakia, and Slovenia unify in the face of Cold War adversity and reconstruct a lesser AH Empire. They will have to adopt a federal or confederated model and observe strict neutrality ala Switzerland, Sweden, and Austria in OTL.

Whilst I am all in favour of reforming Austria-Hungary (:D;)), the mutual animosities between all those states would prevent that from happening...
Although Austria was neutral (sort-of, but generally pro-NATO) during the Cold-War, I don't think that "Uncle Joe" would like Hungary and Czechoslovakia to be neutral, since the USSR occupied them during WWII...
As for Slovenia, it depends on what happens to Yugoslavia in the latter stages of WWII...
