A new board needs a new scooper. Yes I know there at least two scooper threads on the other board but you can't have enough cross time scoopers.

This time I got two flags. One looks like the Canadian flag, except where the maple leaf should be there's a cross. The other flags looks like the Stars and stripes expect that it's the crosses and stripes.

RMG - I suppose that in this world, Canada split off of the British dominion in a similar fashion as the US did, and copied (at least partly) their symbollic for their own flag.

I fired up the scooper, (with a bit of concern, the tank I got one time was a bit much for my backyard) and got a flag. It's rather peculiar, I'm going to keep the setting the same on the scooper and try again in a few days. Anyone have any thoughts?

Fired up the Scooper and got a discarded PC game box. It's a game called "Horizon: 1952". Apparently you fly a jet fighter during the Global War between the Byzantine Republic, Newfoundland Republic and Iberian Republic on one side and the Shonzu, Germanic and Novogradski Empires one the other. I assume the Republicans won, because the game invites you to "Fly on daring missions to save the world from the Imperialist menance".

NHBL, your flag might be from a world where a successful slave uprising in an independent CSA either resulted in a black-controlled CSA or a viable splinter state. I'm guessing that's the most likely answer anyway, due to the CSA battle flag split by a sword, and the broken chains on the bottom third.

The same TL has all 7(!) dune books as movies,Harry Turtledove's great war trilogy, the probablity broach series andother mvies that don't exist IOTL.

The Second Roman-Ameircan War drags on, as the 29th Armored Legion has captured to town of Prague from Imperial forces today.

General George Bush, commander of 35th American Army, said that the capture of Prague 'is nothing but a basket full of lies from the evil Romans'.

SEX SCANDAL ROCKS ARCHONA
By Thomas Dreiser
New York Times Domination Correspondent
July 18, 1988

The once promising political career of Senator Eric von Shrakenberg is in
jeopardy today after the senator finally admitted that he did not have sex
with any of the young women-serf or Citizen-who work in his office.

The 60-year old Senator, who has been mentioned as a candidate for Archon in the next election, initially denied the allegations when they first surfaced
several weeks ago.

“I have of course taken advantage of my position to enjoy the services of
the young twentysomething women in my buro,” said the Senator in an earlier
statement.

Today, however, Shrakenberg had to retract that statement after a leaked
security tape showed him rebuffing the come-ons of his comely staff members.

“I was less than forthcoming with my earlier statement,” said the Senator “Out of concern for my family, I stated that I had sexual relations with numerous young women. That is in fact, not true.”

His wife, Sofie Nixon, was unavailable for comment, but informed sources say
that she is devastated that her husband has strayed so far from Draka
customs.

Political opponents of the Senator have wasted no time in calling for his
resignation.

“If the Senator cannot bring himself to take advantage of young, firm,
beautiful women with perky breasts who are looking for a relationship with
an older man, how can we trust him to take advantage of the Alliance for
Democracy?” asked Assemblywoman Louise Gaynor.

Supporters leapt to his defense, saying that whatever personal peccadilloes the Senator has, they have not detracted from his performance in office.

Shrakenberg plans to consult with his close advisors before deciding what course of action to take.

The cross time scooper has brought back a table with two things on it.
The first one is a radio controlled model warship. It’s labeled Battlecruiser Yavuz Sultan Osman, flagship of the Ottoman Empire.
The ship is armed with 5 twin 11” gun turrets, but has a host of other changes from OTL. There are a pair of phalanx CIWS mounts on either beam, as well as four twin 5” turrets just like on the Iowa class battleships. The 5” mounts mask the midships turrets from cross-deck firing, so she can only manage an 8 gun broadside. The superstructure is considerably enlarged, and tripod masts replaces the pole masts.

The kit is exquisite, a mix of a fiberglass hull, plastic, metal, and wood fittings, beautifully made running gear and turret motors. Fiber optics provide lighting. She is powered by live steam. I couldn’t use the electronics that came with her—I had to adapt my own. The brass nameplate lists her as Yavuz Sultan Osman, 100th anniversary edition.
Now that I’ve finished it, she catches no end of notice when I run her at the local pond, although her 6 foot plus length is a bother to transport. The rest of the time, she is the centerpiece of my graces my living room.

The second item is a copy of “The Ring” magazine, January 2012, looking back at some of the great fights of the century. It includes Vonda Ward’s demolition of Laila Ali in two rounds, and Lucia Rijker’s war with Christy Martin, and how these fighters helped bring women’s boxing’s popularity up to that of men’s boxing.

I got a "Handbook for Advanced Mentates" from 1938.
The only thing I could read was the introdcution though. Apparently, the whole rets si written in mentates symbols, who are taught in basic mentate training. A bit of history was touched in the introduction, too, and apparently the use and training of mentates began in the 1890s, and was absed on a trend in europe lasting since the 1830s to create on mental powers. the best sites for a mentates training seem to be in the Netherlands or UK, although Prague is renowned for seemingly rather unorthodox methods - "a rarity for sure in a german state", or so the introduction says.

Hey, that's the flag of the 2nd "northstar" breakthrough division (colored).

They broke the line at atlanta in 1920 (symbolized by the shattered barbed wire) and their tanks were able to clear the way for the rest of 4th army to drive southwards (the cut battle flag). I think the constellation is a reference to the divisions first formation in the Rebellion War, when they were pieced together out of escaped slaves.

A book entitled Best of Neighbors: How the US Won the Cold War Through Non-Interventionism.

A glossy travel magazine with the main article describing all of the excellent vacation destinations in the Ottoman Empire.

A silvery coin, slightly larger than a US quarter. On the front there is a profile of a man I don’t recognize. In small letters around the edge, the words “One Dollar” are written in English, Spanish, Russian, and French. On the reverse of the coin there is an outline map of North America, with 10 stars arranged within it.

Its about a cold war summit between a tall black guy in a fez and president Josh Franke of the USNA. They're discussing a martian nanoweapon crisis. The Islamic nation is about the same power level as 1976 USSR, going to fall soon but it looks like it can survive.

"That which is yet waiting on your part to be done is this, to see the oppressor's power to be cast out with his person; and to see that the free possession of the land and liberties be put into the hands of the oppressed commoners of England. . .

And now you have the power of the land in your hand, you must do one of these two things. First, either set the land free to the oppressed commoners, who assisted you, and paid the Army their wages; and then you will fulfil the Scriptures and your own engagements, and so take possession of your deserved honour....

The Commonwealth hereby will be furnished with able and experienced men, fit to govern, which will mightily advance the honour and peace of our land, occasion the more watchful care in the education of children, and in time will make our Commonwealth of England the lily among the nations of the earth. "

It's a manifesto from 1225, referring to some Imperial Vicar they threw out.

I think I'll keep this.

India is shown as including Afghanistan and Baluchistan and Burma.
If this India is Muslim ruled, then the Mogul Empire or similar was more successful.
If this India is Hindu ruled, then around 1000AD Islam stopped trying to attack India after getting too many bloody noses from the Hindu kingdom of Kabul and other Indian kingdoms around.
Or, Britain managed to conquer Afghanistan and added it to British India, and then let India go independent as all one big country.

G.Bone uses the same color for Turkey and South Africa. That does not help much. The color distinction is:-

I get a passport like booklet, labeled impregnation catalogue.
Judging by the name on the first page, this book belonged to a man.
The rest of the book has names of women in it (plus adress, and an ID number), a date in the impregnation column and a date, a 3 letter code and a number in "outcome" column.
each individual case has been stamped

The piece of paper accompanying the booklet calls it evidence and goes on to describe that several stamps in the booklet are false and that several names are not real.

There's a picture on it of something that looks suspiciously like the Golden Gate Bridge, with some odd differences - the architecture looks Chinese, the stanchions have a pagoda-look to them; the whole thing is a vibrant red color; there are huge kites that look like dragons flying from the highest points.

I aim the scooper at BSAC (= British Sub-Aqua Club) headquarters in Telford's Quay in Ellesmere Port in Cheshire in England. I get ordinary private house domestic stuff and nothing else.

I aim the scooper at a photographic satellite to intercept its transmissions. At Sharm el Sheikh in Sinai on the Red Sea it shows a few buildings round Sharm Old Harbor, and nothing else around except desert and no hotels, and a small airstrip and no passenger airport.

I aim the scooper at Stoney Cove (OTL a scuba center in a flooded quarry in Leicestershire in England). It brings back a bunch of permits issued by an office in the Admiralty in London, each allowing a particular named man to possess and use underwater breathing apparatus but only for work purposes.

I aim the scooper at Fort Bovisand near Plymouth in England (OTL a scuba center in an old Napoleonic period fort). I get no sport stuff, but paperwork belonging to a hard para-naval coastal patrol force that has replaced the OTL coastguard and lifeboat and harbor police services but with more powers and weapons. The papers include prosecutions of civilians for using boats or diving gear for pleasure and for unauthorizedly acquiring and converting industrial breathing sets for underwater use or making breathing sets from miscellaneous parts. One report says as an aside that in the late 1950's there started a wave of people experimenting with frogman-type diving for pleasure, and that this spread rapidly, until a new law stopped it.

From the same place I get a railway truck loaded full with multicolored sport scuba gear which has been shredded into inch-sized pieces (minus cylinders and weights), and a consignment form saying that it is going to a particular solid fuel fired power station.

Let's see

"Provision first having been made for the forms and durations of interrogation in criminal and inquisitorial trials of the secular arm by H M Charles V, Holy Roman Emperor, King of Spain, Germany and France, Archduke of Milan, Duke of the Netherlands etc. in his Constitutio Criminalis of 1523, it appears to the present writer indispensible..." - he actually writes like that - "...to render account of his many years of experience at the Landgericht Hanau for the edification and instruction of students of law. These days the individual instruction once received at the hands of experienced judici and adsessores has become a thing of the past, from which state of affairs few aspects of judicial practice have suffered more than the art of interrogation, which requires a firm yet deft hand, experience, animatological skill and compassionate resolution. Thus in this book is laid out practical and theoretical analysis of techniques and case histories of the first, second and third degrees at all levels of the legal system..."

First time I used the device, I got "The Holy Bible," Interpreted by Timothy Leary. It seems that most of the books are different from the one's I'm used to. It starts with a myth about an angel called Sophia creating the material universe, contains a gospel by Thomas and a book called "The Acts of Saint Thomas and Jesus Christ on Cannibal Island." The last book is a rather explicit text, apparently written by Mary Magdellin. It seems that Christianity attracted a whole different group of people in this dimension.

Hooking in some new safeties after the mishaps I’ve had—pulling through Tanks, my scoooper turning itself inside out, massive power drains, and a close call with 2 ounces of antimatter, I was a bit apprehensive as I powered it up. WHAM! Something appeared on the platform. It didn't explode, bite, or otherwise seem harmful…it was a footlocker. Inside it is a uniform that has the same general style of a Grosseadmiral’s full dress uniform from the Imperial German Navy. The decorations are also in the footlocker—an Iron Cross First Class tops the list. The dress sword is clearly fully functional—no mere piece of fancy glitter here. Looking closer, the uniform is tailored for a woman—a big one, almost 6 feet tall.
Digging further, there is a scrap book—The first few clippings are captioned, “Grosseadmiral Rundstadt taking command of the Far East Fleet at Tsingtao” (Time Magazine, May 12, 1981.) Another one is captioned, “ Kaiser Wilhelm V and Grosseadmiral Rundstadt at the launching of the battleship Kaiser Wilhelm der Grosse.” (Der Spiegel, July, 1979)
Flipping back through the book, she appears to have had a rather active career, mostly in destroyers, cruisers, and battleships, with short stints ashore and one brief tour on a carrier.
She’s quite the athletic sort as well, and clearly proud of it—there’s a photo of her just after winning the academy boxing championship, and another of her standing over an unconscious opponent, captioned, “Germany defeats America in Alliance inter-service games.”
The earliest picture shows her reporting for training at the naval academy, and is dated 1955. Seems her career was amazingly rapid…
There’s also an assortment of other clothes—regular duty uniforms, civies, some very casual, some quite formal—hmmmm—she still keeps up with her practice, there’s gym clothes and a pair of boxing gloves as well.

Translating the German version of “Jane’s Fighting Ships” will take some time, and the diary even more.

Whatever happens, I hope she doesn’t come looking for me for swiping her stuff, she could probably beat the tar out of me without even working up a sweat.

I’m very curious about this timeline, I’m going to try and get another sample. I love battleships, and want to see how they managed to rule the seas still. On the other hand, the USN might not thank me for forcing them to start a new building program…

OK, I'm between job assignments so I'm kind of bored so I decided to fix up and get a 1963 RCA Color TV working again. I look in my aunt's attic and see that she has a funny looking antenna, well, I take it and hook it up to the RCA. I like to see how far away I can watch TV signals so I figure I might be able to catch the rare foreign broadcast so I obtain a standards convertor.

http://www.nauticom.net/www/cdmandus/images/rcatvsm.jpg

As I tune around, I begin to hear weird signals, some in German, French, and English of course but no pictures. I keep tuning and found my first clear signal. It is in color, the world appears to me as OTL, the cars look the same, But I hear reference to a President Jack Kemp. The news broadcast is dated today. Well, it just ended and now the station is playing a movie called the "Z-Factor." The "Z-Factor" seems to be about some sort of superhero traning school/academy that is run by a lady who was known as the "Iron Lady" during World War II who worked for British Intelligence. She had an experimental suit of powered armor which was able to enhance her strength and agility. The character is played by non other than Margaret Thatcher! She has retired and decided to run the school. Her assistant is a man called "The Terminator" (played by a man named Arnold Schwartzenegger) who as a child during the closing days of World War II, was given experimental serums and steroids to build up strength. His parents were killed during a bombing raid and he ended up in a Nazi camp to train him. Him being so young, "The Iron Lady" found him and decided to take him back to the UK to raise him and be her first student. He later got his own suit of armor and through the years, it was updated to the latest equipment available. The school is set in Upstate New York, "The Iron Lady" was persuaded to move to the United States, by "Captain USA" (played by the late Ronald Reagan) because the UK was so bankrupt from the war that it couldn't keep the program going.

Dang, there goes my signal. :(

He is survived by a wife, 3 children and 5 grandchildren.

-Marlon Brando, comedian and movie star, age 80.

Considered by many to be the "Greatest comedian of all time", Marlon Brando is known for bringing improvisation, on stage and screen, into main stream. His breakout role was on stage for "Arsenic and Old Lace". Since then, he's often been imitated but never duplicated. He lived a very open life and rarely passed up the chance to make public appearances.

Again, this is Kirby, but I'm starting to get worried here. This is a little faded by sunlight but still in good condition.
Cerebus #101, the Lost Issue. Hmmm, seems Sim got arrested by the authorities after #100. This is based on the script he left behind and there's artwork by Valentino, Liefield and Crumb. Good Lord, seems these guys have suddenly disappeared too. Produced in 1991.

A quote from the retiring celebrity reads: "I never replaced Johnny; I just house-sat for him for a while." Sidekick Erik Estrada comments: "Now maybe Charlie can get back to what he did so well before the Tonight Show - acting. Who can ever forget his performance in Coppola's 'The Godfather'?"

The host is a tall, dapper-looking gentleman in a gray Armani suit, with a small Gary Cooper-esque mustache.

I fired up the scooper a couple of weeks ago, and got a 1908 Sears catalog, along with some envelopes and a stack of currency from the years 1889 to 1907. On a whim, I wrote out an order (The prices couldn't be beat!) and used the new "reverse" setting on my scooper.
About a week later, I recieved a phone call from the local freight station, telling me that they'd recieved a shipment with no company, but my name on it, could I please come and get it. Shipping was pre-paid.
I now have a couple of fine guns, some beautiful wooden furniture, several pairs of nicely crafted, but viciously small (5 to 8 oz) boxing gloves, kitchen utensils, rugs, a nice carriage with all the tack I need, a gold watch--and all for under 200 dollars. Perhaps I should order a house with one of the otehr envelopes; I'm sure I can find some of the right cash relatively cheap, condition isn't important.
I also sent back an order for 70 dollars worth of Sears stock--now I've got to find the safe deposit box info my great grandfather left me.

Ahh...here we are! I seem to have got a thin cardboard box about the size of a day planner. On the front is a picture of what looks like a guy in a greatcoat and a gas mask standing under a bomb-cratered cliff. According to the scooper's translator, the text on the front is based on Pharsi-based, and the deviation from our Pharsi suggests a POD of about 1450 or earlier. The text itself reads "Night of Iron and Death". Inside, there's this sort of plastic wedge with two rows of gold pins in the side. Wait...maybe I can use the Universal Drive on my computer to read this thing!

(Time passes)

Okay, I've got it in the interface gel, and am running the OS translation software, and...here we go. Hmm, I'm seeing a slow pan over what looks like a battlefield in a desert of some sort. Hang on, there's narration. I'll type the translation as I get it:

"This honorable and just war began in the month of Sahrivar in the year 1293. It is now the month of Xordad of 1348 and, surprisingly, it is still being fought. All I have ever seen is a insane world, one that has spent the last fifty-five years consuming itself."

"Chinese and Travancori troops fight against the legions of a reincarnated Caliph Omar: Grand Sultan Muhammed ibn Akbar al-Qatari. This fanatic, who bloodily unified the Muslim kingdoms, has bent himself towards creating a worldwide Dar al-Islam, where every soul bows towards Mecca."

"Facing this lunatic, the empires could think of nothing better to do than mobilize their populations and leap into the fray. And soon enough, all the peoples of the world were fighting."

"As for me, I've been battling al-Qatari's hordes for thirty-one years now, along a front line that cuts all Asia in two. Now I want is one question answered: When can we finally stop?"

Hang on, a menu just popped up. Hey, this is a game! Well, I have nothing better to do, so let's give her a shot. See ya!

I have a flag, looking like a standard American flag, with the thirteen stripes, but it is very different. Rather than fifty stars in the blue field, there is a stylized white outline of all of North America north of the Rio Grande, excepting Greenland and the southern states. I also have a dollar, from the same universe as this flag. It is blue and green in color scheme, it has John Kerry's face on it, and it reads, "One Dollar. Legal Tender in all Territories of the United States of North America." And another dollar, "One Southern Dollar. Worthless as Always." And a history book. Apparantely, in this universe, John Kerry ran for president in 1996, for whatever reason, and won. He simply discarded the southern states, and then merged the US with Canada, forming the United States of North America. Or, to be precise, Canada split apart, and the various succesor states voted to join their southern neighbor, the United States.

Let's try this again.. just a few coins..

The first one's made of a sliver metal, and is about the size of a quarter.
On one side, theres a picture of an indian holding a bow, and an arrow. Around it it says "Ense Petit Placidam Sub Libertae Quietem - The Commonwealth of Massachusetts".
The other side has a stylized "2" infront of two crossed diagonal Roman Fasces. Around that, in a circle, it says "Two N.E. Dollars - The New England Confederation".

The second one is about the size of a penny, and is copper-colored.
The first side says "George VII, by the Grace of the Gods, of the United Kingdom, Nova Eboracum, et. al. King, and Emp. of Canada", and has a picture of this King George on it.. the back has "1 CENT - KINGDOM OF NOVA EBORACUM - EXCELSIOR", and an outline of what looks like New York, but is missing all of Long Island, except for the part that makes up NYC itself.

The third is a large coin, copper-colored and twice the size of the Nova Eboracum penny. It looks much newer. One side has "George VII, by the Grace of the Gods, of the United Kingdom and the other British Realms King, and Emperor of Canada", though this portrait of George makes him look older. the other side has "Empire of Canada - Empire du Canada", with "1 Pound" under that, wreathed by a circle of maple leaves.

Sounds like I've reached a bvalkanized NA TL, with coins from several of the countries. Though the polytheisticness of King George is interesting.. As is the Canadian Empire.

I got a portion of a treaty. Very interesting one, too. It's dated March 17, 2004.

The Treaty of World Peace

Being a document to preserve succeeding Generations from the scourge of war.

The following nations, subsequently referred to as the Major Powers, shall act as guarantors of the peace.

(Major powers in order of size)
The Republic of Ireland and the Endless Night
The Russian Republic
The United States of America
The German Empire
The Empire of Japan and Eastern China
The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland
The Dual Monarchy of Austria-Hungary

Summary:

Obligations of the Major Powers:
The Great Powers shall submit to all the other signatory nations a declaration of their claimed borders. Each signatory nation shall be entitled to dispute the proclaimed borders of any other signatory. This treaty shall not take effect until all the signatory powers have agreed upon the borders of their nations, colonies, and other possessions, or formally declined to participate in this pact. In the event that a Great Power is unable to come to agreement over disputed territory within 5 years of signing, this treaty shall become void. At such time as all signatories agree to the boundaries, they shall not be disputed subsequently.
Upon this treaty taking effect, all of the signatory nations do accept the then agreed upon borders, and furthermore agree never to increase their borders by force of arms.

Obligations of Other Nations:
Nations signing onto this pact before its ratification shall submit to all signatory nations a declaration of their claimed borders in the same manner as the great powers. Each initial signatory
Upon joining the pact after it takes effect, each nation shall agree to the following:

Yesterday, on Saint Patrick's Day, the Japanese Empire formally submitted ratification papers to Taoiseach (Prime Minister) Kelly of Ireland. With this action, the Treaty of World Peace takes full effect.
Some protests turned violent in Tokyo, and several persons disemboweled themselves in front of the Imperial Palace, the Irish Embasy, and the German Embasy, protesting the acceptance of German retention of various Japanese holdings taken in the Great Pacific War of the 1920's, and the lack of Japanese holdings beyond Earth.
A leading Shinto priest killed himself in front of the gangway to the SMS Admiral Scheer, the battleship that the Japanese surrender was signed aboard back in 1929. The ship is preserved at Wilhelmshaven.
A spokesman for the Japanese government stated, "Dispite the lingering resentment of a disgruntled minority, Japan has no desire to see war return to plague future generations."
When Taoiseach Kelly was asked to comment on these actions, she stated, "I do not want to allow the actions of a few radicals to cloud the joy of this day."
In Dublin, a squadron of aerospace fighters performed a flyover, and the always tumultuous Saint Patrick Day celebrations were even more so.

A promotional brochure for a movie.

On the cover is a photo of a man, holding a gun by his side. He's dressed in 1950s clothing.
The title is: "Dead Man Walking"

On the inside:

"A 3-year reanimate and former cop, Mike Hesson (Claude Tullhosen), tries to return to his old life, but finds his wife dead, his house bulldozed, and his children missing for the past two years. Mad for vengeance, he seeks out the criminals who killed his wife and captured. His quest for vengeance leads him to fall in love with Angelina Munoz (Jennifer Hayz), the rich and beautiful but deadly daughter of a Neuspanisch plantation owner. The quest then leads him to Nihan, where he fights gun-toting Hakoza ninja druglords.

Acclaimed by critics, Dead Man Walking is packed with special effects and gravel-eating action scenes, but also conveys a sensitivity to the situation of the average reanimate, confused and trying to return their old lives. The co-writer, Mikhail Rothenschild, is a reanimate himself, and director Adolf Cillano brings a definite skill to the art of the clicks.

"A masterful coup from the director of Green War Hot" -Hans Delano, The Ver Engels Announcer

"A gravel-eating success." -Loyd van Tromp, The New Amsterdam Times

"Perfect action... beautiful romance" -Charlie Holt, The Avalon Inquirer"

This page is also accompanied by three photos: the face of a woman who looks strikingly like Jennifer Aniston, an action scene with the guy on the cover fighting a gun-toting ninja, and what seems to be a "Telesonic" mobile phone.

On the back cover it says Starring Whatever and Camera Direction by Whoever... hang on, this is interesting: the other co-writer is none other than Governator Arnie. Seems to explain a lot.

Chapter 1 is all about how faith can lend perspective to human life by the contemplation of eternity and the realisation of our duty to the Gods. And - I think I recall that picture from archeology class. It's Svantevit, unless I'm much mistaken. But I don't recall the statue being that big. Herer it says

I got.. the Constitution! Well, somewhat..

We the People of these united States, in Order to form a perfect Union, recreate Justice, insure permanent Tranquility throughout the land, provide for defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Peace, Hope, and the pursuit of ones own happiness to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for this Empire of America.

Empire? This might be more interesting. However, Article 1 is pretty much the same, except that the Senate is the Imperial Senate, and the President is presider of the Senate. But Article 2...

Section. 1.

Clause 1: The executive Power shall be vested in an Emperor of the Empire of America. He shall hold his Office for his life the Term of four Years, and during his term Congress shall choose one of their own to act as President.

Clause 2: No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, and head of a noble family, shall be eligible to the Office of Emperor; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty five Years, and none who reside primarily in Europe shall be eligible.

Clause 3: In Case of the Removal of the Emperor or President from Office, or of his Death, Resignation, or Inability to discharge the Powers and Duties of the said Office, (See Note 9) the Same shall devolve on the Vice President, and the Imperial Senate alone may by Law provide for the Case of Removal, Death, Resignation or Inability, both of the Emperor and President, declaring what Officer shall then act as President, and such Officer shall act accordingly, until the Disability be removed, or a President shall be elected.

Clause 4: The President shall, at stated Times, receive for his Services, a Compensation, which shall neither be encreased nor diminished during the Period for which he shall have been elected, and he shall not receive within that Period any other Emolument from the United States, or any of them.

Clause 5: Before he enter on the Execution of his Office, he shall take the following Oath or Affirmation:--"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Imperial Duties, and will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Imperial Constitution."

Section 2

Clause 1: The Emperor shall be Commander in Chief of the Army and Navy of the Empire, and of the Militia of the several States, when called into the actual Service of the Empire; he may require the Opinion, in writing, of the principal Officer in each of the executive Departments, upon any Subject relating to the Duties of their respective Offices, and he shall have Power to grant Reprieves and Pardons for Offences against the Empire, except in Cases of Impeachment.

Clause 2: He shall have Power, by and with the Advice and Consent of the Imperial Senate, to make Treaties, provided two thirds of the Senators present concur; and he shall nominate, and by and with the Advice and Consent of the Imperial Senate, shall appoint Ambassadors, other public Ministers and Consuls, and all other Officers of the Empire, whose Appointments are not herein otherwise provided for, and which shall be established by Law: but the Congress may by Law vest the Appointment of such inferior Officers, as they think proper, in the Emperor alone, in the Courts of Law, the Electoral College, or in the Heads of Departments.

Clause 3: The Emperor shall have Power to fill up all Vacancies that may happen during the Recess of the Imperial Senate, by granting Commissions which shall expire at the End of their next Session.

Section 3

He shall from time to time give to the Congress Information of the State of the Empire, and recommend to their Consideration such Measures as he shall judge necessary and expedient; he may, on extraordinary Occasions, convene both Houses, or either of them, and in Case of Disagreement between them, with Respect to the Time of Adjournment, he may adjourn them to such Time as he shall think proper; he shall receive Ambassadors and other public Ministers; he shall take Care that the Laws be faithfully executed, and shall Commission all the Officers of the Empire.

Section 4

The Emperor, President and all civil Officers of the Empire, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors.

Article III

Section 1

The power of electing shall belong to an Electoral College of the United States, which at the time of this Constitution's ratification shall consist of the heads of the following families, and they and the Emperor are to be the only Noble families of this Empire: WASHINGTON, acting as Archduke of Virginia, and Count of Georgia, ADAMS, acting as Grand Duke of Massachusetts, and Count Palatine of Rhode-Island-and-Providence-Plantations, HAMILTON, acting as Prince of New-York, BURR, acting as Duke of New-Jersey, and Margrave of the Carolinas, and finally the family JEFFERSON, who shall be Marquis of Maryland, and shall chair the Electoral College. This college shall also act as Supreme Court..

The rest of the Constitution seems to go along pretty much with OTL's, though it mentions that Congress may alter what family holds the titles, but may not "Do so in such a way to construe the Imperial Election", with Article III turning into something similair to OTL.

As per your requests within your response to me, I am more than happy to vest full command to you, including command over the disposition of vessels of the Royal Navy. To this end, the Admiralty have been instructed to consider you a full Admiral of the Red for this purpose.

The rising in London that has gone on for three weeks has been put down today by the Irish Republic. The rising, which started on Easter Monday, was apparently an attempt by a disgruntled minority to restore monarchical rule to England.
The rebels fought fiercely, but the Republican Army was able to bring artillery and machine guns against the under-equipped rebels. The final bombardment and storming of the rebel headquarters left the famous Lower of London in ruins.
Rumors of secret trials of Churchil and the otehr ringleaders have been denied.
Republic spokesmen do speak of a German ship captured with 20,000 rifles aboard, evidence that the rebels were aided by Germany. If convicted of treason and conspiring with the enemy, Churchil, the so called King Edward, and the others could face execution.

I haven't really trusted my scooper ever since the last couple mishaps, but I decided to dust it off and hook it up to my computer to see what I can get that way. Seems safe enough.

Looks like the American Capitol Building. Hmm... on closer inspection, it looks like there are a couple things wrong here...

I set the scooper carefully for an interesting timeline I’d collected from before and got an envelope. The letter inside was dated, August 15, 1981, and was written in both German and English.
This is…interesting. It’s from Grosseadmiral Brenda von Spee, and addressed to whoever finds it.
It seems she wants to meet whoever snagged her locker. I’m going to try to send a letter back, but I’m going to be cautious about meeting the lady—the letter did urge me to bring my boxing gloves, as well as expressing in interest in discussing naval matters.
Still, I’m tempted, for a woman in her 50’s, she’s gorgeous (or even for a woman not in her 50's)
I’ll let you know what the response is, if I get one.

Here's the info for the timeline the letter came from

I get what appears to be a normal newsmagazine, except that everything is in Latin. Strangely enough, it translates to "USA Today." There is also an advertisement for "SPQR Today." I also get a clipping of an astronaut standing on the moon holding up a red flag with "SPQR" on it in gold letters. It's labelled 2400 AUC. Another photo shows another astronaut holding a US flag on the Moon. This one says 2399 AUC...

Number one:

Picture of a evil-looking European wearing a crown standing over Sydney Harbor Bridge and pointing a gun at a Koala. Two ships flying British and American flags float beside him, pointing guns out of the poster:

below that, in block letters: "STOP THE POMS! JOIN THE PROSPERITY FORCES TODAY!"
smaller letters: "Call 0800 5678 or visit your local Prosperity recruitment office."

Number two:

Picture: A Japanese and an Australian decked out in full military uniform shaking hands. The Rising Sun and the Eureka Flag at the top.

Caption: "FRIENDS DON'T LET FRIENDS DOWN. JOIN THE PROSPERITY FORCES TODAY!"
smaller letters: "Call 0800 5678 or visit your local Prosperity recruitment office."

Number three:

I picked up a model of an aircraft carrier. It looks a lot like the current USS Enterprise, as far as I can tell, but it flys the Eureka Flag. Let me see:along the bow it has PNS Melbourne down one side and Japanese kana down the other. A little plaque says "Commemorating the Prosperity Sphere Victory at the Battle of Los Angeles. In memorial to the 6,000 men lost by the PSN. Melbourne Honor & Victory Museum."

Another go, I got a mobile phone: a Harrolds. It has a brilliant colour screen, and a little camera. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be able to pick up any signal. Hey, it says Made in Dutch Occupied Region. It's also got Japanese writing as well as English.

Wait a second- the backround of the screen is a spinning globe. Let me see: Australia and Indonesia, as well as southern India, Britian, the Low Countries and the west coast of South America are all in blue. Japan, eastern China, Siberia, Korea, Taiwan, and the Phillipines are all in yellow. In green are northern India, France, Spain, Africa, and Indochina, though borders are visible. North America is in deep blue, and the Soviet Union, Germany, and Eastern Europe are in red.

I'm new at this, so everybody, behind the blast shields. Here it goes.
There's a whine, and it powers down, inside:

Four Movie Posters:

The first one is vintange, and its for GONE WITH THE WIND, starring Clark Gable as Rett Butler, and Lucille Ball as Scarlet O'Hara. Yep, is a picture of Rett's holding Scarlet in that classic embrace.

The second one is for BACK TO THE FUTURE, starring Christopher Lloyd as Doc Brown, and Eric Stolz and Marty. There's the two them standing in front of a 1970 GTO JUDGE, which looks much like the De Loren of OTL.

The third one is for STAR WARS: THE QUEST BEGINS. Wait a minute, the pose of Luke and Leia is the same, but they look different. Starring Bill Mumy as Luke Starkiller, Linda Blair as Princess Leia. Also starring Mako of Obiwan Kenboi, and Christopher Walken as Han Solo. Special apperance by Sir Laurence Olivier as Governor Tarkin. Christopher Lee as the voice of Darth Vader.

The fourth one is for STAR WARS: THE EMPIRE'S REVENGE. Same bunch, but also starring Nick Nolte as Lando Calrissian.

Boy, what a different world.

I got a pamphlet..
"Understanding the American Empire's Coat of Arms"
It shows a large image, with arrows pointing to descriptions. I'vep osted the descriptions.

THE BALD EAGLE supporter is a symbol of strength, and the wildlife of the Americas.
The first quarter shows a SAILING SHIP. This represents the ship building industry, and the settlers who came here on ships. This quarter was added after the dynastic crisis of 1902, when the Empire of New England was created and the former quartering, a tree, became useless.
The second quarter shows THREE LIONS. This represents the English heritage of the colonies.
The third quarter shows three BALES OF WHEAT. This represents the good harvest, as well as the farmers.
The fourth quarter shows THE RISING SUN. This represtns the rising of a new nation to join the family of nations.
The estucheon shows the arms of the HOUSE OF HANOVER, the Imperial Dynasty that rules over the Empire. From the split of the Empire and Great Britain to the dynastic Crisis of 1902, The Kingdom of Hanover in Germany was a possesion of the Emperors.

This coat of arms was designed in 1776, when the Agreement between Geroge III and the Continential Congress, now the Imperial Senate, created the Empire in personal union with the British Kings. The personal union would end, but the arms have only changed once: In 1902, when the tree was removed from the first quarter.

On the back is a small flag in the lower quarter, with the words "Produced under authority by Her Imperial Majesty, Julia Maria I, Empress of America and Queen of Quebec. I've posted a reproduction of the flag.

So far, SENDING things to a specific timeline has been extremely difficult, and also risky. I don’t want to loose Grosseadmiral Brenda von Spee’s things somewhere in the timestream—and certainly going there is out of the question as things stand.(Message 188 in this thread)
However, I have figured out (I hope) how to build a beacon that will suffice to guide a projected item to its intended location with greater certainty. I’ve sent a letter off through my scooper, addressed to the admiral, with instructions on how to build that beacon. (The lighter an object is, the more likely it is to reach its destination, it seems.)
Perhaps in a few weeks or months, it will come online, allowing more reliable communications between her and me.

Hey, I've got something.. It's a book on nations of the world, but it's coming in pretty slowly. Wait, battery problems? No! Stupid thing, work!
*Mechanical Noises*
Agh! The thing just tore up the book, and shot it at me.. Let's see what I can get from the largest pieces.

"KINGDOM OF AND-
KING: BORIS II
POPULATION: 6-"

"ARAWAK
AJAH: CHAR"

"EMPIRE OF JAPAN
EMPERO-

The thing just covered everything- including me- in black ink, and now it's smoking.. Anyone here know a good Crosstime Scooper repairman?

(Looks at the scooper)

Well, it looks like one of the 3-dimensional transporter's inter-dimensional copier cords wasn't working. So only half was able to be transported. A new one would fix up the scooper in a jiffy.

No, no. Looks to me like he hit a foam knothole. Intratime foam...Best way to describe the sort of weird quantum mess you have to get through. He must have hit one of the knotholes--they're vortices that can fry a scooper. When your scooper hit it, there was a feedback pulse that took out the energy focus module. The scooper cut out before the scooping could finish. Happened to me once...

I got a pamphlet (well, more of a print-out from a news article) talking about "The performance of the United States of America and Canada in the 2004 Rome Olympics"

Here's an excerpt:
"The USAC went into the Rome Olympics (Rome having defeated Athens after protests from animal rights activists that Athens had plans to exterminate any dog found on the street without a owner) with high hopes. It would be the first time that "American" football would be featured in the Olympics, a sport that was admitted because of the USAC's insistance that Football would draw a ton of endorsements from American companies. Also, it would be the first time that Major League baseball players would play in the Olympics, which only occurred after baseball Commissioner George W. Bush was asked face to face by president Hilary Clinton to allow it. It became clear early on that the USAC would dominate the competition when Michael Phelps won every race he was in. In Basketball, the USAC, which for the first time included players from Puerto Rico, easily cruised to the gold thanks to the fact that many NBA players felt that their security in Rome would be sufficient and thus agreed to join the team. In Baseball, the USAC, anchored by Red Sox shortstop Alex Rodriguez, Minnesota's hot rookie Justin Morneau and the fine pitching of Roger Clemens and Curt Schilling led the US past Cuba for the Gold Medal. In Football (American), it wasn't even close, the "Dream team" of NFL stars smooshed every opponent they faced by 30 or more points, beating Germany in the gold medal game. In gymastics-"

It basically goes on and on about how the USAC was able to basically kick everyone else's butts in just about every sport that is popular in OTL America and OTL Canada.

The only other matter of note from the pamphlet was this:

"Their was some controversy during and after the games that almost 98% of the individual medals won by the USAC came from people who came from "American" states, whilest "Canadian" staters only accounted for 2% of Individiual medals. This has been blamed on the cold climate of the canadian states, but also has been said that this is because the major sports leagues of the USAC are mainly "American" leagues. It has been pointed out that Major League Baseball has only 3 "Canadian" teams in Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver, and thus the lack of exposure led to very few "Canadian" players on the Olympic Baseball team (only two, Justin Morneau and Larry Walker). It has also been pointed out that the NFL has only one "Canadian team" in Toronto. One radical, who has wanted Canada to become independent from the USAC for years, have even suggested "quota"ing the system so that a certain number of Olympians are from "Canadian" states. This has been labeled ridiculous by everyone and anyone, escpecially since during the Winter Games the number of "American-Staters" and "Canadian-Staters" are about even."

"Overall, the 2004 games were a resounding success for the USAC. The next games, in 2008, is in China (one of the USAC's staunchest allies in the "War on Terror"), despite the threat of Boycott from Communist Taiwan."

This.... was an interesting article.

Got the front page of The Sydney Morning Herald, January 12th, 2003

Top story: AUSTRALIAN TROOPS FOIL AMERICAN WARLORD

(Western UNTA Command): An Australian regiment with the Temporary Authority forces in California yesterday foiled the plans of New Mexican warlord Jack O'Halley to take control of the former USNA Tijuana missile silo. In a daring air raid, the 5th Australian Air Regiment, the "Ossies", parachuted into the irradiated bluffs above the silo and took control of the silo from Jack O'Halley in less than 2 hours with minimal casualities. A cheap paperback titled

Rogue Sheriff: Policing the Wilderness

by Eduardo 'Nero' Coimbra
with John Wilkins

He's on the front cover - at least I think it's him, - tall, dark-skinned guy, black leather jacket sunglasses, holding something that looks vaguely like an MP3 on steroids.

The back cover blurb says: The Greatest adventure Of Our Days! Read the Account of the World's Toughest Policeman's Adventures - Written by Himself

Streets don't come much meaner than those of the Karachi Autonomous Economic Zone where, since its liberation by Indian troops, over 2000 murders were recorded every year. Nobody was safe from armed gangs and terrorist violence until opne man took over leadership of the Joint Corporate Armed Security Services (JCASS) and took on the underworld. In six years at the head of the world's toughest police force, Eduardo Coimbra made Karachi safe for business.

- thrilling gun battles

- pursuing narcoterrorists through the Old City

- Zero-tolerance justice in action!

NEW EDITION: Including a chapter on the fight against Ahmad Chalibi, the infamous BANTA terrorist leader.

There are some ballpoint pen notes inside the front cover, but I can't read Arabic.

I got the front cover of a very old issue of TV Guide - cover date is June 12, 1953.

The cover photo shows a man in what looks like a fanciful navy uniform, complete with two-foot long shoulder-boards and more ribbons and medals than a Prussian general. He has an extremely long walrus mustache, slightly graying. A bunch of kids and silly-looking sock puppets surround him.

The caption reads:
'Admiral Adolf' leads the way in US children's programming.
pictured: Adolf Schickelgruber, creator and star of 'Admiral Adolf'.
