Two questions, one about the Army of the Tennessee and the other about the Battle of Vicksburg.

1. Does anybody have a list of all all regiments, artillery batteries, and cavalry companies in the Army of Tennessee, and if possible, their commanders?

2. Does anybody know the names of six of Admiral Porter's fleet and the three troop transports? I know the named of the seventh of the ironclads, the Henry Clay.

For what time period? It was different in virtually every battle fought by said army. What you might want to do is check out BATTLES AND LEADERS OF THE CIVIL WAR, a 4-volume history of the war published in the 1880s. It has orders of battle for all the major battles of the war, which would provide the info you are looking for.

The Vicksburg campaign.

The Army of Tennessee wasn't involved in the Vicksburg Campaign. If you are talking about the general time period of the Vicksburg Campaign, then BATTLES AND LEADERS offers 2 choices...the order of battle at Murfreesboro and the order of battle at Chickamauga.

If you are looking for an order of battle for the actual army involved in the Vicksburg Campaign, BATTLES AND LEADERS offers that as well.

The Union Army of the Tennessee did take part in the Vicksburg Campaign. To quote Wiki:

"The Army of the Tennessee was a Union army in the American Civil War formed in October, 1862 and commanded by Ulysses S. Grant in the siege of Vicksburg."

Ok...you are talking about the Army "OF THE" Tennessee, not the Army "OF" Tennessee. My mistake. LOL The order of battle for that army is listed in BATTLES AND LEADERS OF THE CIVIL WAR, Volume III, pp 546-549. Unfortunately the typeface is too small to get a good scan, or I would have saved it in a text file for you. But the list given in BATTLES AND LEADERS does have all the info you are looking for. If your local library does not have this, it can get it for you via interlibrary loan. If you are a Civil War buff, I strongly suggest purchasing a set for your own library...it consists of articles written by the actual commanding officers in the various campaigns, and is an invaluable resource.

I did find this link on the web as well...it is not quite as detailed as the Order of Battle in B&L, but it contains probably most of what you are seeking.

They also have a link for the Confederate Order of Battle.
