Hitler is dead. This is after Stalingrad but before Germany proper has had allied troops on its soil. A German government offers to free all prisoners and to withdraw to 1937 boudaries.

Do the allies ignore the offer and simply fight for unconditional surrender?

They almost certainly wouldn't accept the offer - the Allies want to get rid of the Nazi regime for good.

Letīs say this, in January 1943 the Allies agreed they would accept only the unconditional surrender of the axis powers and in September of the same year they did what - signed an armistice with Italy, which happened to be an axis power. Interesting, isnīt it?

So, if the new german government is not nazi like the new Italian government was not fascist, them you got a deal.
