I voted for baseball, but, seeing how this is an AH forum, I have to add I would have most likely voted for 'real' football (soccer) if I had been born elsewhere.

I believe you generally follow as an adult the sport(s) you played as a child. I follow baseball, hockey, and US football in that order as a result. Playing them and/or watching them as a child lets you learn all the rules, tactics, and strategies that makes watching them enjoyable as an adult.

As a certified baseball nut, I can watch the battery work together, pick out minute infield shifts, and discuss pitch selection ad nauseum. Believe it or not, a tightly pitched game with a score of 1-0 or 2-1 is far more exciting to me than a 12-8 blowout.

I know that 'real' football has tactics and strategies too, they just aren't known to me. That makes watching football a bore to me despite its obvious great excitement to others. I don't know enough about it to enjoy it and I'm very unlikely to learn. There are just too many other sports choices I already like.
