Gowa

The war between the Gowa-Tallok-Galesong Alliance and Polombangkeng continues unabated. A military outpost is established by Polombangkeng on New Polombangkeng (Papua New Guinea), from where they effectively control the Royal Gulf (Gulf of Carpentaria). The native allies of the Alliance are cut off from trade.

Much of the rest of Sulawesi are drawn into the war. Already effectively puppet states thanks to the dominance of the states trading with Marege, the war effectively consolidates the hegemony of the southern trading cities.

Polombangkeng's territories on the mainland of Marege are swiftly annexed.

Although expeditions to discover the source of pituri continue to fade, Tallok explorers make contact with the Wunumara people, enabled by their outpost in the lands of the Kukatj people. This gives them a very small supply of fifth-hand pituri. The rareness of the substance makes it much more valuable, per gram, than gold.
