Well, Total War series is a popular series I think, and I have it, and in it their are PLENTY of chances for an alternate world. So why not post a desc and if possible a screenshot of the alternate world Rome or Medeval.

(Aye their are historic inaccuracies in the game but in the spirit of alternate, view it)
Rome:A Earlier East Roman Empire.
"With the expansion of the Roman Empire under the watchful gaze of the Roman Senate, the three great houses each funded different campaigns for conquest in the name of Rome.
The House of Julii concerned with the north of Italy marched north into Gaul and swiftly conquered many of the Gaul tribes. The House of Scipii conquered to the east, Scily and North Africa to Spain under it's control by the late period of the Roman Senate.
The House of Brutii above all went on the warpath, marching over the Greek cities, by southern invasion of Greece, and Macedon from Greece and the west balkans, then taking on Pontus and making their main capital in Byzantium.
Despite sucess, the House of Brutii was not very popular with the people, and specially with the Roman senate, in the last year of the Roman senate they ordered the elder family members to kill the house head, as he campaign against the Scythians. Even though he was quite well know for his fits of madness, the family refused to do so. Outrage erupted in the senate, with family members walking out of Rome, and the remaining members of the senate, less then half the originol number cut the House of Brutii from the Roman Empire and called for their destruction.
A folly for Rome, the people under Brutii control sided with their masters, from southern Italy to the edges of Anatolia broke away from Rome and declared themselves a seperate peoples, the Eastern Empire establishing themselves. WIhtin a year, the gates of Rome were broken open and Brutii members took Rome and destroyed the senate........
What followed next would be a grapple between the east and west, which was the TRUE Rome.

Well their you have a narrative of my gameplay as the House of Brutii in Rome Total War. Aye I know it's not good, but it's more of a example, I and anyone else willing can post their own, my next posts will focus on the Kingdom of Hungary, and give more details as I will be posting as I am playing.

I prefer to play as the Julii, it's easier to block off the other two Roman houses that way. Why would I want to do that? So they're weak later in the game when I take over Rome, which leads to them both attacking me, and them both having immensly strong capitals right next to mine.

I have R:TW and the Barbarian Invasion expansion pack.

In BI, I played as the Franks, I quickly eliminated my weaker one-province neighbours, the Saxons and the Alemanni [or Germans], and began an expansion into the surrounding area, eventually getting the third largest empire in the world [after the two Roman Empires]. One thing I did alot in that game was attack a Roman city after doing loads of sabotage on it with assassins, and then immediately making peace with Rome, effectively annexing one of their provinces without having to give something in return.

But that game turned into a statemate after a while, and there was no real way to get out of it.

As for my Julli games, one time I expanded out into Gaul, and right across to Spain, quite easily capturing the entire Iberian peninsula.

Then I decided 'Hey, let's take a general and eight squads of town militia and see if I can capture Carthage'. I did, and managed to take over alot of north Africa, along with the Greek capital.

I stopped playing that game a while ago because the Brutii had a large empire as well, and it would take me ages to go through their lands to attack anyone else, meaning they could easily take all of East Europe and, perhaps, Egypt.

In my most current Julii game I expanded as far as I could as fast as I could. I managed to get alot of the Balkans, including some of Macedonia [who I then just left, if I got rid of them, then there'd be no one to stop the Brutii]. I took over a large area of Gaulish lands, but I haven't started to invade Hispania yet. I managed to get alot of North Africa again, even if the Scipii did manage to take Carthage for themselves.

I'm currently waging a war against Gaul [senate's orders] and Britain. I'm interested in an invasion of the British Isles, as I've never attempted one before. It's only four provinces, but the sea trade would bring in alot of money and naval power [like I don't already have huge fleets of Quinquerimes :D], plus I could easily launch attacks all over western Europe from there. Especcially Germainia, who hate me for no reason, I hate them because they can use phalanxes despite the fact that they're a barbarian faction, and I tend to use cavalry alot [I'm good at it too, sometimes I get 'heroic victory' by destroying a force over twice my size using massed cavalry charges to route them, it means I sometimes get free family members, too].

I realise what I've just said was more about the game than history, but you get the idea of the timelines.

My Super Spanish Empire:
After becoming a major Christianity exporter to Moorish Spain, the spanish Kingdom gained control of the Papacy, through not a little underhand bribery. This and the support of all of christianity led to a very early reconquista, it being done by the mid 12th Century, with Grenada falling last, this led to a peace between Spain and the Moors with Spains goal of a christian Iberia succeeding.
Spain then set its sights on expanding into European Territory, firstly taking Lisbon, and then taking Portugal owned Basque Country and Catalonia.
With Portugal Conquered, Spain set its sights on southern france.
With the Papacy under full spanish control, due to the righteous working of the Bishops and Cardinals in Southern Europe, Spain was free to do as she pleased, and promptly took Bordeaux and Tolouse fortresses.
Meanwhile in Northern Europe things looked bleak, the Norse heathens of Denmark had taken over Hamburg and were threatening the Rest of the Holy Roman Empire, England, taking advantage of French Interests being elsewhere fighting spain and Milan, took Rennes castle and forced the French into a single territory in the Ile de France.
After a series of wars in with a Venitian-Milano aliance the Holy Roman Empire was on its last legs. After a hasty peace with the Italian States, losing Florence to the Milanese they focused Eastward, attacking a weakened Polish Republic.
Spain meanwhile had a dispute between themselves and Scotland over trade rights, this lead to war and Spainish forces from Leon landed in Ireland and Quickly forced the Scottish out. From this power base they regrouped, retrained, and the launched an all out attack on the Scottish, besieging Aberdeen and Edinburgh in a two pronged attack that left the Scottish Paralysed. Both Cities fell within 3 years and apart from a remnent in Belgium, the Scottish were no more.
England watched with horror as their neighbour to the North, mostly peacefull to them, and a very good trading partner was obliterated by a seemingly invincible Spanish nation. But they could do little but try to strengthen their defenses in York, and send out diplomatic Envoys to the hulk of Spain.
This failed as when England refused to cede Rennes to Spain, who wanted a monopoly over the Atlantic. This also ended in war as the spanish were feuled to fight. Leaving a token defense force in Scotland, the Spanish Armies marched southward, one heading for York the Other Nottingham.
Englands defences proved useless, as superior Technology, Tactics and Manpower served to defeat the English as they sat in their castles.
The Battle of Nottingham was the first time the use of Trebuchets were seen on a battle field, and the Spanish used them to great effect, an entire
squadron of Wall defenders being killed by a shot which destroyed the weak wall below them, throwing them hurtling into the ground and their graves.
Nottingham and York fell in the battles, all that was left on the Brittanic Mainland against the Spanish hordes, was London and Cearnavon.
A Spanish Army, fresh from Dublin mached through wales, defeating the small garrison there.
The Nottingham Garrison under Prince Ferdinand of Leon, and The York Garrison under General Juan of Barcalona convergered on London. The resulting battle lasted hours, but in the End Spain was victorious, though had suffered numerous casulties.
Now in control over the whole of Britania, Spain allowed the English to Sue for peace.
The Peace Settlement was that Spain would get Rennes, as well as keeping all of their conquered provinces, as well as England as a Vassel. In return England was allowed to survive autonomously and would have complete protection from Spain and her Allies.
Meanwhile, Jeruselem and Antioch were captured by Crusaders from Hungary and Denmark respectivly, Cyprus and Crete were colonised by Venice, and Sweden was Conquered by the Danish.

By 1192 Spain was in obviously the most powerful country in the world, and it was also very rich. The Iberian castles were the largest in the world, and it was here that generals from all over the Empire were taught their trade to the highest level.
Many wondered where would be next to fall, and at the turn of the century they were answered. Spain wanted Scandinavia, and after taking out a small independant oslo, declared war on their main rivals, Denmark. Swiftly removing them from Stockholm, they had to face a gurilla campaign by the Danish, who had armies scattered accross the pininsular hiding in forests. Though this failed, and Spanish forces crossed into copenhagen and threatened Arhus. Denmark made peace after HRE declared war and took back Hamburg and Stettin. Spain now controlled Iberia, Brittania, and Scandinavia, as well as holding all the Major Islands in the Meditterainian.

The Papacy was getting restless, spain seemed only bent on destroying catholic nations, why couldn't this seemingly invincible army be used to destroy the heritics of islam?
Thus an ultimatum was sent, attack the nations of Islam, or be excommunicated and face the wrath of all the nations of Catholocism.

Spain, although it felt it could take on all the nations, felt that there was no point for unnecessary death and that Islam was as good a target as any and crossed the Gibralter Straights and invaded the Marroccan Moors.

Soon most of North Africa was under Spanish rule and Most of the Holy land was conquered. Feeling their job was done on islam, they sent their diplomats out and made peace.

Byzantium and the Turks had been fighting eachother since 1080 and it had shown with neither side making much headway on eachother they finally collapsed bankrupt and broken they both almost simaltaniously collapsed into civil war and both states were swallowed up by neighbouring states, like Venice, Hungary, Russia and of course Spain.

1300 rolled around and Spain was still going strong, with the invention of Gunpowder they had been at the forefront of military technology.

War was brewing though as Russia became Increasingly powerful in the East and threatened to ofsett the Spanish hold on Power. When Russia declared war on Spanish Allies Poland, they used this as a casus Bellum and landed at Helsinki, taking that they Arced round taking eastern Europe and attacking from the South they enveloped the Russian Nation, forcing it to be annexed.
Spain now controlled a ring around Europe, completely inpenitrable they held all the cards. After a few wars they took italy.

This brought my total Provinces to 65 and that was the end of the Game.
