1530: A young Wettinite scholar at the University of Leibsig named Wolfgang Junker accuses Wettin and the Wettinites of selling out the goals of the reformation through union with the East. Junker proposes doctrines such as double-predestination, elimination of all icons, relics and "idolatry" from the mass, the abolition of the office of bishop and a replacement of trans-substantiation with a doctrine of God's spiritual presence in the eucharist. Junker was also accused--by both Wettinites and Catholics, of favoring the abolition of the priesthood and all titles of nobility. Though these allegations are false, they actually help make Junkerism more popular with some of the Peasant classes.

Ming Dynasty:

The Hongzhi Emperor celebrated his 60th birthday with court festivities and celebrations throughout the empire. In rural China, many of the larger villages and towns dispatched riders to Beijing bearing gifts of crops (from the poorer villages), gold and silver (from the wealthier villages), tea, silk, horses (only the purest offspring were sent), and other gifts to honor and celebrate the emperor's 60th birthday, as well as celebrating his 43rd year on the throne.

August 10, 1530:

A mere 11 days after the court festivities celebrating his father's 60th birthday on July 30th, the emperor's first son, Zhu Houzhao, drowned while visiting a coastal fishing village south of Beijing. The empire was thrown into a period of intense mourning shortly after word reached the Forbidden City and the emperor is believed to have remarked after recieving word of his eldest son's death, "Some will claim that the gods have punished us for our extravagence, I know of no god that any man worships that would be so vindictive, so spiteful, so arrogant, as to strike down a man's eldest son for his slight."

With the death of Zhu Houzhao, the emperor's 36 year old son, Zhu Houcong, currently serving as a captain in the very small Ming Navy, became the heir apparent to the Ming throne.

Gowa & Marege

The weakened Siang is conquered by Polombangkeng, who annex their territories and their ally, Maros. South-western Sulawesi, the only area on the island with coherent states, is now divided between Polombangkeng, Gowa, Galesong, and Tallok.

In response to this, a treaty of cooperation is signed between Gowa, Galesong, and Tallok. This violates the terms of the peace treaty of 1514. In response, Polombangkeng declare war.

In unrelated news, Tallok make a diplomatic coup: a treaty is signed with the Alawa people of Marege, who control substantial territories in the inland of the Top End.
