Western Africa:
1528 Summer: The French launched their massive invasion of the Manding empire from the Senegal, after landing pn the Guinea coast. The French allied with the Arab immigrants and the Arabized Africans, against the the "pagan heathens," of the empire. Allying himself primarily with the leader of the Muslim resistance of Arabized Africans, Moors, and Arabs- the chief of the Mande, the Captain Penn-ar-Bed was able to have his African allies conquer the inner empire, while his army took the coast effectively. Due to the recent dynastic troubles, the French were able to ally with many pretender dynasties, and thus allied with many of the chieftains.

1528: The first great Inca pet appears, by the name Eqay. He composes the tragic poem (based off his own experience) of a soldier in the northern army ripped from his home to serve in the jungle, and then dieing of smallpox. The government obviously does not approve, and execute him, but not before copies spread to the intellectuals.

Muscovy:
A small group of well educated men, who are also Sorskivites, buy a printing press and have it brought to Riga, where they set up shop and print the first Bible in Cyrillic and German, as well as some of the more predominate local languages.

tiny question - when they bought this printing press, did they also buy someone who knows how to use it?
(its not like a modern copy machine, where you just insert a quarter, and out comes a page)

Gowa and Marege
1528
Later referred to as 'The Year Everything Changed'.
The Sambo Daeng Niaseng Karaeng Patingalaong arrives at a Gowan trading post in west Marege, exhausted and devastated. The crew are quickly ferried home, to a hero's welcome. The first circumnavigation of Marege is complete.
Of the crew's cargo, its smoked eels (acquired in trade with Gunditjmara) is particularly appreciated. Plans are already drawn up for further trade with southern Marege.
However, such events pale into insignificance compared to a single trade good.
A Tallok expedition into the interior (Tallok, alone of the colonising powers, has an understanding of the potential of Marege's interior) gains a fifth-hand bartered good: pituri.
Pituri is is narcotic, hallocinogenic and highly addictive. It derives from OTL's western Queensland, and its trade networks spread across the continent. Its extraction by the Wangkamana people has allowed them to become settled and prosperous. (All OTL)
Even in small quantities, pituri's benefits are clear. Explorers are sent into the interior, trying to contact the Wangkamana...
