Okay, here's the question for my erstwhile contributors.
What to do with the threads that are specific to a decade once the decade is past?
We could merge them into the archive.
We could lock them and put a link into the beginning post to the previous thread like it for the previous decade, and a link in the last post with a link to the next decade's similar thread. This would create new threads every week that would be 'daisy-chained' together.
We could do something else (your suggestion).
What do people think?
