Aargh... starting right when I'll be away. I'm gone for four days on 25-28 May, back for one day, then away on 29-30 May, then back after that. I know we have the "3 days forward, 1 day back" rule for giving instructions for building while away, but right at the start will be when all the diplomacy happens, and I don't want to be away for that. Can we make it from 1 June onward?

The game should begin on Tuesday the 22nd. We have spent enough time planning this out and it is time for the game to begin.

It would be good to have that, although we should also have some sort of deadline, so that it doesn't get too open-ended. I think that the 1st of June - another 10 days - would be enough time for that. (I also have the reasons upthread I mentioned about being away, but that could perhaps be worked around depending on what every else has, schedule-wise.)

I voted 'Do Not Know' since my situation more or less invalidates me having a view - I'm reliant on libraries, on other organisations telling me they want my time, etc and can not be certain ever when I CAN come online and when I can't, so I'll go along with whatever is decided.

I am a little concerned that there appears to be a second strate of rules now, requiring me to know about imports, exports and stuff in specifics - I haven't a clue how to do that, or whether I'll ever have the time to properly dedicate myself to trying to understand it. My understanding of the economic stuff is only general as I ended up simply giving a percentage of points to things, as I didn't understand what exactly they were or what relation they had to other things.

I still don't get the three different numerations we're using - Economic Points, GDP and Glens ? I'm happy to carry along as I am now, but trying to get my head around this as a pre-requisite of starting the game is probably a no-go in the end

As I understand it, exports and imports fall into two categories. The "left over" food, mining or industry points you have to sell - which there's a price list for what they can be turned into - or, if you have a shortage, which you need to import.

Then there's machinery of war, e.g. selling subs, which has been mentioned. For that, you just buy or sell it.

To add flavour, of course, people can specify that "these 100 industrial points I'm exporting are XYZ". But in game terms, it doesn't make much difference.

Oh, yes, I agree that we should wait until all nations are up (including mine; I'm putting too many details into mine, I suspect). But I still think a deadline would be good to encourage people to focus their efforts. It looks like sometime in the first few days of June should give everyone enough time, which also lets us finalise the last couple of areas of the rules being discussed (timescale and economics).

Damn. I'll be out of town then. Oh, well. Does the "three days forward, one day ahead" rule mentioned previously apply for issuing building orders etc.?

didnt know that.

Just saying that many people in the UK might be out having fun all day, and for me I know the library will be closed, not that I want my situation to be considered particularly.
