Inspired by the recent American imperialism threat in the FH section.
Your challenge, should you choose to accept it, is to make New England the equivilant of a two-timer between the US and Canada.
Meaning that New England commonly switches allegiance between the US and Canada.
That it switches to which ever side pays it more attention/ gives it more influence on national politics.
That switches often catch the whichever side it's apart of by surprise, but aren't unexpected.
That, while never staying in one nation, New England finds itself needing the to be a part of one nation or the other. No sustained independence.
And most importantly,
That New England can get away with as long as either the US or Canada wants her supple hills, her nice tracks of land, and her beautiful financial assets...
