The off-topic forums, Chat and Non-Political Chat, can now only be viewed by registered members. This means that casual web surfers will only see the alternate history portion of the site.
Also, Google links to those forums will no longer work, and the off-topic forums will slowly disappear from Google search results and cached pages.
This is done to allow additional privacy for members talking about their personal lives and interests (including the embarassing parts). Also, it makes sure that people who arrive at this site will sign on if they are attracted to an alternate history site, rather than because they're mainly interested in what's going on in chat.
