Hey everyone, just wondering if I could get clarification as to when exactly the new game will start (in terms of the in-game year) and when (in terms of RL) the game is likely to start.
Cheers :)

Youre free to start whenever you like, however time will not begin to pass until tommorow at noon. Sunday is when the years change.
The start date will be 1880.
It is advisable that you put together a basic factbook prior to starting though. It doesnt have to be super-detailed and long, but some basic info is good to have.

I just wanted to clarify something else, are we bound by our diplomatic ties from the ATL? For example Russia is part of the Triple Alliance, does that still hold in this RP or is it a blank slate?

Look through the TL. I think the alliances ended up somewhat like they did historically. Im not sure though, I was more focused on America.

The major alliances in the ATL by 1900 were...
The Triple Alliance...Prussia, Russia, and Italy.
The Triple Entente...France, Austria-Hungary, and Britain
Austria entered the Franco-Prussian War on the side of France, which lead those two countries to form an alliance after the war against Prussia. Prussia needed an ally, and Russia (which was competing with Austria over the Balkans) joined Prussia.
Since the Franco-Prussian War only ended in 1877, these alliances have probably not been formed by 1880, however.
However, Ash does raise an interesting question, which you have not really answered. Are we going to remain faithful to the main events of the timeline, such as the alliances as stated in the timeline? Or is this going to be an "ATL of an ATL" sort of thing? Just curious.

Well, you are the resident TL expert.
But I personally would recommend keeping the 'historical' relations.
