1851
Napoloeon III is shot during the coup. Second Republic is overthrown in the fighting between Royalist forces of Henry, Republicans and other groups.
France.

1852
Nicholas I declares himself 'protector of all Orthodox Christians', and demands that the Ottoman Empire cede parts of the Balkans to Russia. The Ottomans refuse.

Russia invades Romania, on it's way down the black sea coast.

Britian issues a statement condemming the invasion, much to the suprise of Russia who beleived it had British support in the matter.

Britain tries to gather support, but finds France unable to help, Austria nervous of a war with Russia and Prussia uninterested.

1853
Britian sends troops to support the Ottomans.

The Ottomans and British seal the Straits of Marama

Battle of Marama, much of the Russian Black Sea fleet is destroyed

1854
Britain blockades Sevestopol.

Battle of Balaclava, last major land battle of the war for the British. More of a massacre than a battle, nearly all of the British forces are killed. Those remaining are taken prisoner and shipped back to the UK at the end of the war.

British withdrawl of troops from most of the theatre, only a garison is left in Istanbul to help defend the city in the event of an attack.

The British and Russian navies square off in the Baltic. Heavy casualties on both sides. Several failed attempts by the British to land forces on the Baltic coast are foiled by Russian coastal defences.

Russian Baltic fleet retires to ports for repairs. British begin to cycle out damaged ships.

1856
Greece enters the war on the side of the Russians.

Russia occupies Thrace. Greece with Russian support takes Aegean coast south/west of Thrace.

The Treaty of Vienna signed, Turks cede Aegean islands and parts of Western Antolia to Russia, the United Kingdom accepts the Black and Aegean seas as Russian waters.

Austria recieves authority over Catholics in the Balkans, Russia and Austria agree to leave the remaining Balkan states as is to establish a buffer zone.

1858
Caliphate moves to Baghdad.

France begins to rebuild its government/infrastucture under King Henry V.

France declares that it will remain nuetral in any conflict between Russia and the United Kingdom, despite preassure from both sides.

1860
Orthodox Greece continues to move into the Russian sphere of influence.

Britian and Russia lease bases on Crete. Both bases grow quite large.
