Your challenge, should you choose to accept it, is to create a large demographic group of traditionally Republican voters who nonetheless voted for Democrat Bill Clinton in '92 and '96 with a POD no earlier than 1989. Bonus points if you can get them to vote for Gore in 2000.
Or you could successfully argue that it already happened and win the challenge.

Easy one here...
A lot of Tsongas Republicans follow to the Clinton camp as Tsongas is picked to be his VP.
Gore might be picked up in 1996 as Tsongas declines 2nd term as VP due to health.
The GOP moderates go back to compassionate George in 2000, it would take ASBs to keep them.

The POD would occur in about 1990 when George Bush decides to attack Iraq from several directions but Saddam Hussein targets Israel due to that. Israel and the USA defeat Iraqi troops but Yitzhak Shamir uses Syria and Jordan to attack Iraq hence alienating most Arab nations against Israel and the USA. This causes a massive war by 1991 with the US and Israel essentially stuck in Iraq and with Jordan, Syria and Iraq (I realise that Jordan is an unlikely ally to those but we are in a situation where Israel used its soil to attack another Muslim country). Bush raises taxes a great deal and US soldiers are filmed in bloody scenes.
In the 1992 elections George Bush gets really tired due to the war and suffers a minor heart attack but as he has chosen Dan Quayle as his running mate he doesn't back down fearing the McGovern switch to Shriver in 1972 situation. Bush appears extremely pale and unhealthy in the debates with Bill Clinton due to stress and many start fearing that the War in Iraq would become even more mismanaged if Dan Quayle was to become President. Clinton receives support from those favoring smaller taxes as Bush says he would continue the war. In the eve of the elections oil prices rise drastically as the OPEC imposes an embargo on the USA and Israel.
In 1993 Bill Clinton starts to decrease troop presence in Iraq and invites Israeli, Syrian, Jordanian and Palestinian diplomats and leaders to discuss the situation. Clinton pressures Yitzhak Shamir (still PM, not like in OT where he was beaten by Yitzhak Rabin) to withdraw from Syria and Jordan and in turn Syria and Jordan agree to an armstice in Iraq. This permits Clinton to reach west of Iraq where Saddam Hussein was leading an opposition government. In January 1994 Saddam Hussein is captured boosting Clinton's popularity. Clinton starts many programs such as Medicare to help lower class Americans but at the same time decreases spending on many areas allowing lower taxes. He signs agreements with oil companies that start pumping oil in Iraq and oil prices fall. In 1995 OPEC agrees to decrease oil prices and in 1996 Clinton wins re-election.
In this scenario the whole country would have probably voted for Clinton in 1996 especially if someone like Pat Buchanan would get nominated in 1996 instead of Bob Dole. However, Dole's would still receive very little votes. With oil for the large companies, lower interest rates for small businesses, lower taxes, healthcare provision and Iraq secured (contrast that with George Bush in 1992) Clinton receives support from both Conservatives and Liberals.

I said you had to successfully argue it, not declare it.
