~~~St Petersburg, Russia~~~
Slowly, but surely, the Russian war machine rumbled to life. Russia was a large empire after all and thus, had a large military to rouse against Sweden. The chance to trounce Sweden, though, was favorable to many Russians, and so the mobilization continued.
In Finland, the five Finnish regiments of 5,000 overall waited for Russian reinforcements. The commanders there highly doubted the Swedes would be foolish enough to attack Russian soil, but nevertheless, they were prepared...
Meanwhile, the Russian Baltic fleet prepared to set sail to trounce the smaller Swedish fleet. Trusting the Danes to block off the Baltic Sea, the ships prepared to do battle...
OOC: I shall be sending in 3 infantry divisions (30,000), 2 cavalry and a Cossack division (30,000 more) and 2 Artillery regiments (144 guns). I'll also have 50 ships for the Russian Baltic Navy.
I know the info is probably wrong or exaggerated or something, but info in this era is pretty limited and bad, and this IS the Russian military after all.
and attempt to hold off the Russians as long as possable and allow the Militia to form
Most of my navy is on its way to USA with the bulk of my Army.
The Swedes do not expect to win against the Russians , so they are takeing precautions to keep their government in one peice (in the USA)
OOC: This occurs about two-three weeks later (tryin' to be realistic and fair), after the Russians are mobilized and ready to advance.
IC:
~~~Finnish-Russian Border~~~

With the men, horses, and guns ready, it was time to move. General Ivan Slovenov gave the order to advance, and over 60,000 Russians began to move into Sweden.

Minor resistance was met almost immedately, as militias raised since the Russian declaration of war, but the resistance was pitiful, at least, when compared to the might of the Russian army.

Slovenov decided to split his army into two groups. The first would stay on Sweden's eastern coast while being covered by some ships from the Russian navy. 2 regiments of infantry, a regiment of Cossacks, and an artillery regiment.

The second group would be the rest of the army. 1 regiment of infantry, two cavalry, and the second artillery regiment, would stay inland and swoop down the Swedish mainland.

If all went as planned, Sweden would fall in a matter of weeks.

Meanwhile, 35 ships from the Russian Baltic Fleet were sent out to begin harrassing the Swedish navy and help the Danes blockade the Baltic Sea, not to mention shadow the first Russian Army group moving down the Swedish coast.

With large a large map of Scandanavia on the oak desk before him, Frederick VII of Augustenberg sipped away at a large glass of cognac while his mind pondered the problem put forth before him: The Russians had answered the Danish call for help and now the Swedes were effectively boxed-in, that is unless the Prussians came to the rescue which was highly unlikely and almost laughable to consider. Additionally, the Danish navy in the straits along the islands Zealand and Funen had been ordered to open fire on any Swedish ships trying to pass through the straits and reject passage of any ship not doing trade with Russia, Denmark, or Prussia.

All this news had come from Copenhagen by sloop almost a day ago and word would probably be reaching Trondheim late today or early tomorrow. The message the duke had recieved in Oslo would be accompanied by his own order to hold position at Trondheim. But the duke wouldn't continue digging-in at Oslo, he was planning his own offensive into the heart of Sweden.

Knowing that the Russians would attempt a land invasion through Finland gave Frederick VII all the confidence he needed to draw up his planned path. He had decided on his goal: Stockholm would be taken as soon as possible and the southernmost parts of Sweden occupied in hopes that after the war, this region could be brought under Danish influence. If the Russians hadn't already smashed the Swedes into submission, perhaps there would still be time to push farther north.

The duke wrote down a quick message on a scrap of paper and as he exited his quarters to get a breath of fresh air he handed it to a servant. With a little peak, the servant learned that the colonels of the Oslo military would be marching their troops over the Norwegian-Swedish border by the end of the week..
