Sweden demands that Dainish troops leave Norway

Your occupation of Norway must cease. We demand that you remove all your troops from Norway by the end of the Month or we will be forced to take appropiate mesures to remove them.

The stocky, well-dressed man spun around and looked that the significantly less prominent speaker, "What is it Christian?"

"Your presence is requested by the king. He and Minister Sehested are awaiting you in another chamber."

"Show me the way then, Christian."

The servant turned back the way he came and set off with Frederick VII of Augustenberg hot on his trail. The duke followed his servant through the silent halls of the Copenhagen Palace; both accompanied only by the clicking of their boots on the marble floors. When they finally reached the intended chamber the gentle tapping of spring rain could be heard on the ceiling and muffled voices from behind the oak door.

"Thank you Christian, you are relieved."

When the duke entered the chamber he was struck instantly by the fine smell of tobacco (and certainly not the crumby Virginia stuff, this had a finer smell that one could only get from the European grown plants) and the warmth that had been lacking throughout the rest of the awkwardly silent palace.

"Frederick, how nice of you to join us," a man said with a big grin on his fat face and an equally fat cigar sticking out to one side of his mouth. The duke instantly recognized this man as none other than Hannibal Sehested, the king's appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs. "It's from Aarhus, in case you were wondering. I wouldn't be caught dead smoking the American stuff."

The duke chuckled to himself a little. It was no wonder why Sehested got his job, somehow he always knew what you were thinking even if you didn't quite know yourself. "So, what is it that I'm doing here?"

King Frederick VII explained the situation. "The Swedes gave us an ultimatum. We're to, I quote, 'end our occupation of Norway.' Ha! What utter rubbish! Any man with half a brain could tell that they only want us out so that they can go and begin their own occupation!"

"And our response?"

Sehested answered this time. "What do you think? We're not going to bend over to any damn Swedish ultimatum especially one has ridiculious as this! Word has been sent to the Norwegian government in Oslo and Trondheim so that they can organize a defense. We've sent a rejection of the ultimatum to Stockholm, hopefully the Swedes will bach down once they see we mean business. The navy is preparing to blockade the Baltic and the army should be ready to be deployed in southern Norway by the end of the month.

"We're also looking for help from some other countries. Especially Russia, we figure if we can get them on our side we can squash Sweden between us and, Hell, maybe even split the nation up between the two of us."

The duke nodded his head, "Well it looks like you've got all the bases covered. What do you need me for?"

The king smiled a little and said, suavely, "You're to organize the defense of Norway."

By the order of the Czar of Russia, Nicholas I, the Empire of All Russias hereby warns the Swedes to withdraw their foolish ultimatum to the Kingdom of Denmark-Norway within 48 hours. If the ultimatum is not withdrawn, Russia will have no choice but to declare war on the Kingdom of Sweden and teach the Swedes to know and respect their place in Scandinavia.

Russia highly doubts the Swedes mean to use "aggressive diplomacy" to force the removal of Danish troops from Norway effectively.

If Russia is afraid of the Negotiation power of Sweden then so be it. We have no intention of fighting Russia

With the apparent refusal of the Swedes to withdraw their ridiculous ultimatum to the Kingdom of Denmark-Norway, the Empire of All Russias, by order of the Czar, Nicholas I, hereby declares war on the Kingdom of Sweden, its poorly disguised imperialist intentions in Norway will not be tolerated by Russia, and Sweden will learn its place in Scandinavian, indeed, European politics.
