"Any kingdom divided against itself will be ruined, and a house divided against itself will fall." -Jesus in Luke 11:17
Ruler None.
Governance: Ah... Fun. None. First post IC will show that...
Population: ~25,000,000 + colonials (no census)
Technological Edges: A REALLY good Rail system in Britain and the beginnings of one in Ireland (which didn't have any Potato Famine...)
Armed Forces None. Mass defection all around recently... There are ABOUT 100,000 former armed, ~20,000 former members of the army are in India at present. The rest are scattered about.

As to the about to collapse of Britain: Queen Victoria was assassinated. Prince Albert the Widower was made regent for their eldest and he immediately began a complete railway system, with a route from every city in Britain to London, The Rail Capital. Prince Albert establishes the British Rail Company, headed by CEO and Chief Engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel for the modernization project.

The problem was, that once this project was at last completed, and it had employed THOUSANDS, everyone got laid off. This meant MAJOR economic depression. Upset, furious, and in a savage drive for revenge there was talk of revolution in the House of Commons and the House of Lords was firmly opposed to such talk, but wished to replace the prince with another, more desirable regent. Dear Prince Albert of course disagreed. Destroying the Parliament, he declared that there would be order and he would have it. The defection of the majority of the Buckingham guard and the mob of people forming outside the Palace of course, say otherwise...
