After a skirmish with Texan rebels, Mexican army forces captured a United States officer who, after interrogation, stated that he was here under orders of the United States government to help train and equip the Texan rebels.
The United States government has denied the officers involvement on their part, insisting that he was acting on no authority but his own. They have, however, demanded his return.

The Mexican response is:

A. Execute the officer, teach those Americans that they cant boss everybody around.

B. Ransom the officer back, Mexico could do with some extra cash.

C. Release the officer under assurances that he will be punished by the United States government.

D. Give him back without arguement.

The Emperor of Mexico has, after discussing with his advisors, asked the United States government to punish this obviously rogue officer. Mexico does not wish a conflict with the United States, and is hopeful that relations can stay peaceful in these troubling times.
[OOC: I really wish you would have waited a bit, but in any case, C]

President Pierce has quietly ordered the situation hushed up, and has sent the officer back to his batallion, giving lip service to the Mexicans that he'll be prosecuted.

[OOC: Well, looks like it's time enough for the USA to go on the warparth and take some lands in California...this will be an issue to say the least.]
