August 3rd 2004 Tokyo, Japan (Event + 3days)
"10 seconds Mr. Prime Minister, sir"
The TV technician bowed while the girl doing my makeup finished retouching my face and stepped away to the side.
Hope she covered the bags under my eyes. Almost no sleep for the last two days, the Prime Minister thought. Time to tell what we know to our nation.
"Good evening, citizens of the Empire"
"Two days ago, in an event we still can't explain, the world around us changed. Some may ask what happened? What we will do? What is next? I'm here to try to answer your questions as best as we can at this time. On August 1st at 9:00 pm our nation was transported as far as we have figure out to a world that is a mismatch of different nations with different historic developments. While the majority of the citizens didn't notice any difference our Empire suffered a tragic loss in a minute's time. The Outer Provinces (1) and Formosa are still there but not the ones we used to know. The imperial citizens in those islands are gone and we can give no explanation of their fate at this time. We offer our most sincere condolences to the families of these citizens currently living in the Home Islands or in Karafuto. We will try to answer more questions about this event or the reported casualties as soon as more information is available"
Not too much of a consolation for the families but is all I can do for now.
"We are letting our claim to Formosa and the Outer Provinces ends for the time being in the name of good relations with our new neighbors. The persons now living in that island neither want or desire our rule so we will abide to their wishes. "
So far so good, now to try to calm some nerves.
“But the most important question in everybody’s minds is: What is next? Let me assure you there isn't anything the matter with human civilization, except that in this last days humanity is viewing it through a vision impaired by this incredible event. As much as we can tell nations have been uprooted, nerves have been racked and fear is prevalent, but humanity is moving in the right direction. As I speak emissaries are being send to our neighbors in an attempt to start peaceful relations with as many of this new nations as we can."
"The world will not wait for our citizens to overcome their fears and stand back on their feet. We must not underestimate the magnitude of the tasks ahead or the dangers that this new world bring, but we may be sure that this tasks are no match to the strength and the temple of the Japanese Empire. Following the desires of our Divine Majesty we must continue our daily lives as close as possible as before this event, giving an example to our neighbors of the kind of citizens our Empire have. That's why the blackout imposed to our nation's news agencies will be rescinded immediately and all civilians’ computerlink (2) servers will be allowed to operate normally."
"Our nation will extend our hands in peace, but let me assure you tonight that our liberties and rights will be protected and in the future, when we remember this trying times, all of us will be proud of being members of the Empire."
"Hail to his Divine Majesty and our Empire."

A map of the approximate borders of the Khaganate was on the TV screen while the anchorman was giving his report.
Cut to video of the Prime Minister being interviewed by a reporter.
“Sir, there is any reason in specific for our nation’s rejection of the invitation of Kirghiz to attend a conference next month?
“ We consider that at this time is not the possible for our nation to participate in a diplomatic conference in the middle of Central Asia due to more pressing concerns closer to the Home Islands.”

“...and now we go live to Ichiro Kawamura on the official reception for the Yamanian detachment of the join Imperial-Yamanian expedition to Siberia.”
Cut to live feed of a young reporter in a pier area on the Yokohama Naval Station.
“Good evening, we are here in the reception for the Yamanian part of the Siberian Expedition and all I can said is that the evening has being a demonstration of the discipline...” (while the reporter speaks prior recorded video of the reception are showed on the TV screen; Fighters overflighting the ceremony area, Yamanian troops on formation, a IJA general welcoming the Yamanian contingent) of our Yamanian guests and organizers have said that this is only the beginning of what they expect to be a long lasting working relation.”
Reporter was moving around while talking and located himself by a Yamanian officer in arctic camouflauge uniform.
“I will try to ask a couple of questions to one of our visitors.” (He gestured to the Yamanian officer by his side) “Excuse me sir, may I ask a couple of questions?”
The Yamanian officer turned, smiled and nodded.
Reporter: “Thank you sir. Can you tell us your name and what is your position in the Yamanian contingent?”
Coleman: “I am William Coleman, commanding officer of the Yamanian contingent to the Siberian Expedition.”
Reporter: “How long was your trip and how do you feel about the reception our nation has given to the personnel under your command?”
Coleman: “It took us approximately six days to reach Tokyo from Yamania. It could have been sooner except we have to take a more roundabout route due to pirate activity taking place around the New Hebrides.”
“As for our reception, it has been friendly and I’m sure our limited stay here in Japan will be enjoyable. Outside of the preparations for the expedition, of course.”
Reporter: "The men under your command, (camera pans around to show Yamanian soldiers talking and cavorting with their hosts) seem to be from different races. It's that common in your nation?"
Coleman: "Races?" (looks around briefly) "Ah, yes. We have a very small minority of people descended from Africans and Indians and a larger portion of our people have varying degrees of Yamana blood. Most are descended from the various nationalities of European whalers as well as more recent waves of immigrants from Scandinavia."
Reporter: "We have heard rumors that your senior officers and you have been invited to an audience with his Divine Majesty, There's any truth to these rumors?"
Coleman: "We have been invited to attend a formal reception at the Imperial Palace, yes."
Reporter: "How long you expect the expedition to last?"
Coleman: "Roughly, it could last anywhere from a week to two weeks. That largely depends on how rough the terrain is and how we are able to deal with the native Siberian nomads."
Reporter: "Will your whole fleet accompany the expedition to Siberia or parts of it will stay back in the main islands?"
Coleman: "We have decided to send a few ships along with which to help ferry our contribution of equipment and supplies to the expedition to Siberia. More will stay behind here in Japan."
Reporter: "We love sports on the Empire, What sports do you play in Yamania?"
Coleman: "Sports? Oh, well, I'd have to say the more popular sports in Yamania are ice hockey and football. Ah, just to clarify, we mean regular football, not the type that the Americans play."
Reporter: "Can you tell us who your officers are?"
Coleman: "Yes." (Waves a couple men over) "These are my immediate under officers, Major John Ludvigsen and Major Boerge Pettersen." (They nod to the reporter)
Somebody calls to Colonel Coleman; he waves and turns back to the reporter.
Coleman: "If you will excuse me, I must be going." (Nods to the reporter and he, Ludvigsen and Pettersen head for some nearby vehicles.)

Dr. Tadeo Kanawa: “Yes, that what I have called the symptoms suffered by the Japanese citizens returning from abroad. They are Japanese, but not from our Japan so in many cases the cultural shock has been very heavy.”

Dr. Kanawa: “ The most famous example is the one of the Japanese Battle Group from another world visiting North America the day of the Event. They returned to Japan the middle of last month, but their disassociation to our Empire is so great that they almost volunteered to a man to go to the Incan Empire as our nation’s naval contingent to the Incans.
