The man was tall, and was of obvious Corsican descent. He spoke Modern Corsican, which has absorbed many Greek words into it, due to mass Greek influx after the Fall of Constatinople. He was John, Second to the Emperor, and with the Emperor sick with some sort of Mental problems, he was the most powerful person on the islands, and like most people on the islands, he enjoyed sailing. He looked out onto the waves and saw the great city of Rome: It's beautiful shining palaces, and above all, the Golden Dome of the Great Vatican, the place where Pope Innocent V would preach to the masses. And then, there was a flash...
The city of Rome was still there, but it was different. The buildings were out of place, and the Golden Dome was gone. He used the emergency motor on the small boat to get back to Nova Byzantion, and commisioned a train to bring him to Ajaccio.
One hour later, City of Ajaccio
"Have you recieved any news on what has happened?"
"Well, sir, preliminary results show that Spain is still there, Italy is still there, but there are differences in thier cities, towns, etc.. Brittainy and France have become some.. well, we don't know. The Moroccans seem to have become similair to OUR Spain... Really, all we can say is that we don't seem to be in the same world..."
"Well, Spain and Corsica have been allies for many years.. attempt to contact them."
"Will do.. Which language should I use?"
"Well, we don't know what this world is like, but there should be people who can speak Latin.."
