Procurator-Governor- An appointed representative from the Federal government, this post was created in the Treaty of 1895 in order to deal with American interests in the Kingdom. Over time the responsibilities of this post slowly evolved to dealing with judiciary and military problems of the nation-state. During WW2 the post was added even more power when martial law was declared due to the strike at Pearl Harbor. To this day the Procurator-Governor oversees any issues that might deal with Federal interests both in law enforcement, military, grants from the Federal government, as well as environmental issues.

Procurator-General- This post was created in 1936 due to conflicts between civilian and military personnel on land ownership. Unlike the Procurator-Governor, much of the duties of this post have not included additional powers over time. To this day, much of the Procurator-General oversees any issues that might arise with the US military and the civilian population

I hate my work. I really do. All I want to do is to live on the Big Island, fish, and farm. That is all what I want to do. (Note: And write my novel- I’m working on the plot of having this poor guy decide whether or not to keep his girlfriend or enjoy the Mainland)

But Jon has required my service as a P-G, and sometimes the job just wants to make me hit it against the nearest wall.

Take for example the Dobell crisis. Dobell, our esteemed President of the UH, has been kicked out of his job by the Board of Regents. The Board of Regents has not issued a single thing about why they fired him. His Majesty, who personally recruited Dobell in the first place, has inquired (read: commanded) the Board of Regents for a personal meeting.

Now- the question is, why am I involved? Simply that it is election year and Dobell gave his support to the Democratic candidate for Gov, Maize Hereon. Now, that isn’t a crime. However, Maize Hereon has been appointed to my department as liaison on the new Striker brigade that is being stationed on the Big Island.

Let me state that I did not put her there. Jon put her there. Mrs. Hereon did manage to serve as the Chairman of the very same party that he is affiliated in, thus her appointment.

Of course, the transition from candidate to liaison was not done without protest. But, with Jon’s logic, Mrs. Hereon was sworn in, and has been doing good there. In fact, I was almost going to promote her to first liaison.

Then this crisis opened up. Thank the Gods for peace.

Note: Have to talk to the Admiral on matters of naval game(*). For some reason he wants the incorporation of land as well as sea. Great. I'll have some peace there.
Note 2: Caught a bit of Pres. McCaine review on the Middle Eastern Crisis. Another bit about Isreal and all that. And since I supported his election, I have to deal with those questions. Arg.
Note 3: More stuff about Iraq. Which reserves to be sent? Yay.

Something has happened out there that has cut all transportation to the Mainland* and elswhere. In lieu of that, we have got the chatter of other countries that seem to be something out of an althist* story. Heck- I have even one report from an "Empire of Japan" that is jabbering to a Chinese Empire!

Needless to say that this has caused an uproar in government. A conference was held for all heads of government on what to do. Do we do WW2 again? Does the Throne still have power? Should the military be allowed to hold key positions? (and so on and so on)

It took 9 ***** hours just to make a decent plan on what to do if a foreign nation does contact us. It's called a Coalition. Power will be shared with the P-G branch as well as the King, with civil installations monitored by both Royal Guard and MP's. The King will be used for "figurehead" relations with leading officials, with Jon present to show that we are "American"- if we come into contact with the Mainland. Right now we are just looking for a friendly one that actually speaks what we have.

Plus I have to make a statement to the press in an hour. Huha. I love press conferences. Already the Gazette has let loose a full spread on if this is an actual April Fool's or not. Ironically, that was quickly shot down by the Star, who got the actual scoop on it. (Note to self: find that leak!)

Waaaaaaa!

Notations in pencil

...quotes from the transcript of His Royal Majesty's speech is printed-

...While it should be stated that such an action with the federal government does pose the risk of the darker days during the Pacific War, it will not lapse into that situation. Rather, a Coalition has been formed to meet the demands of this new world our fair nation-state has been dropped in....

Yay. He just has to drop that bomb. "Oh yes and the feds did this and the feds did that". Makes me wish that the post was renamed "Governor" just to show them how low they are

....Military troops are alerted for any actions that might lead to possible threats to our security but they are met with the Royal Guards and the Reserves. The Kingdom will play a part within the defense of the Kingdom and thus it has been decreed by the Coalition...

Oh and you should have seen the protests that this started. A whole mass started towards the Palace with signs and everything. Needless to say, this was quickly stopped by the Royal Guards. Of course that didn't stopped the one at Pearl Harbor and Hickam. A nightmare from the lower depths of downstairs. Most of the suspects are locked up in military brigs pending a ruling by the Coalition on what to do with them. On that same manner, I have been trying to make time for the Coalition on this manner, but I cannot due to the massive intel and weight of dealing with the other nations. So the press attack me for sending in a sub. I am soooo tempted in declaring them a Threat .

Contact with some "Empire of Japan". Dignitary is expected to come. The consul of the UK also got something from a "Dominion of Chile-Argentina". Apparently they have been having some trouble as well- finding out that an Incan Empire is sitting on their doorstep. How funny. No word yet on hailing the Mainland. It's just utter chaos and there's enough here. An attempt was made on freeing the protesters in Mililani. They call themselves the "Radical Rightists" (I may have gotten that wrong), but were sadly stopped before any "radical" action was made. Needless to say, they were sent to OCC under heavy guard. I'm just finding it ironic that much of the action done by the Royal Guards is similar to what the military did in the Pacific War.

Note 2: Need to meet with Jon on getting another assistant. I am running on 3 hours sleep on my job and I need more just to deal with the affairs regarding the sharing of tech between various nations. Heck- I even slept during a meeting on what to do with the rationing of supplies. Thank God Yons was there to prod me awake.

Had a conference with Jon. Found out that a diplomat is being sent by the Empire but not specifically placed at a date. In other words; it's just an agreement. In other news, manged to get specific detail on the islands that surround us. No word yet on Polynesia- but Micronesia is just an utter mess. Projections by MI place that most of them are on par with us with slight deviances within areas. For example, they have managed to determine that the communication that the DCA were using when intercepted with us was on a higher frequency; almost like instant messenger service on computers, but more adapted to radio. On a similar related note, the energy that we do have is very limited. So far HECO is co-operating with the Military on using solar panels to gather more energy. There are some windmills as well, although they aren't too sure about conventional means. A new division within the Royal Guards and MI are being developed in order to deal with the communications with other nations. One of the diplomats from the Australian contingent have managed to contact another Australia (more militant) that is eager to deal with energy although their position is somewhat limiting their movement. Then there is the case of N'iihau , which has appealed to His Majesty for protection. His Majesty has taken it with the strictest provision on staffing Royal Guards there. Then there is the matter of the missles and inventory on the exact armement that we have.

I really need a rest.

Clipped photograph from The Honolulu Star Bullitien

Depicting a Japanese man bearing esignia of a military officer. He is flanked by an elderly Hawaiian bearded man dressed as a businessman with the exception of several medals pinned to his right breast and another suited Japanese man.

The caption reads: His Majesty and P-G Yoshimura greeting Baron Kaende at Honolulu International Airport

Below that is a written note:

Yeah, well, I had a meeting (again) about Ni'ihau

On the back is more writing:

1) Get David to sub for me on the metting

2) Assign Elon the duties of food; specifically how to distribute

3) meeting at 3 on Naval station on Koohlawe

4) meeting (again) on Big Island deployment

Jon and HM are discussing matters of a possible treaty with Baron Kaende. They pretty much gave him the usual dignitary visit- historical sites, landmarks, and so on. He was really amazed with the status that we have as a nation-state and how the Revolution managed to put an equal stance on both nation-states and states. He was also amazed at the Counsol system.

As for me, I've been busy in other matters. So far we've established contact with a certain Mexican Empire on a possible agreement as well as a CSSI thing. As part of my post, I have been trying to balance the foodstuffs that will come out of the trade with the military and the civilians.

(Of course that really doesn't get rid of the grudge that the Hawaiians have against the military)

Oh and the Ni'ihau crisis has been solved by HM Kunalio dispatched to over see that particular island (with his 'Guard). Since they cannot go on Ni'ihau, the Navy has been temporary been stationed on Kauai so that a better location can be gained in monitoring the other islands. Contact has been restored on the small park stations on the Outer Islands and they seem all right. The question is on how do we get them back here.

More talking behind closed doors. The negotiations isn't going as smoothly as everyone thought. There is some opinions raised in the newspapers that the Treaty itself needs to be approved by Congress and not the Coalition. Then again, the Coalition itself is being asked to allow the Hawaiian's more say than the Feds, since it is "their island".

Station was quickly built with no notice done in the press. Due to the nature of that particular island, that was the best avenue to take. So far, what intelligence that it has intercepted is mainly chatter from Japan and a Yamania (where ever that is). I have passed the intel to Jon, who had a blank face when he read it. I suspect that the intel will be used in some devious matter.

There has been more talk about nationalizing the leftover parks from the federal branch. This has resulted in more talk in the Coalition on the sovereignty of the Feds and how the Hawaiians seem to mismanage what they already have. Then HM managed to cool it down by stating that all branches needed to work together due to the threat they have being just an island.

HM is certainly becoming more powerful than before. He's also becoming much more wiser, thanks to his education on the Mainland. Of the 3 civil incidents that broke out on the Neighbor Islands, all were quietly put down by his sons dispatched to "oversee" it. There is also the elements of corruption in his government, who are also being eliminated by the 'Guard. Those elements that are caught have been sentenced to community service mainly because of the overcrowding at OCC*.

OCC on the other hand, has been a curious matter. Inmates have been dispatched to urban areas to help "re-vitalize the economy". Empty plots around the former mills are now being farmed for basic crops with wastes from the landfills (biological) being used for fertilizer. Security details from the bases are also in use due to the limited number of the 'Guard

As for me, I'm taking a rest. Almost had a burn-out two days ago with Elon helping me to my bed. Both he and Nguy have assumed my duties (temporary) and give reports at the end of the day. I'm just glad that I'm resting.

So many days to catch up. In a brief nutshell:

-> The Coalition has been streamlined into becoming a Cabinet with HM assuming the responsibilities of an actual King. The only people to rival his power is Jon, who retains his title, but is in control of all Federal forces. The bicameral legistlature has been retained with the Governors of each Island the same as they were pre-Event (with the exception of Ni'ihau & the Big Island, who are ruled by HM's sons)

-> A new organization of various groups and military branches has been formed to accomodate with the post-Event intelligence and dealings. HM has given the organization a nickname: the Primus Pilates. (Due to HM past reading of how the Roman military was organized)

-> The post of Procurator-General has also been retained although much of the work is being handed by a triumvant and not a single man (me being the example). Staff from the Royal Guard has been transferred to the P-G department mainly due to their expert dealings with the Koho'lawe Issue. (In which they currently man alongside MI)

-> Signed a treaty with the Empire, CSSI, and a North American Free Trade Zone. So far our economy is back on it's feet with tourists encountering the splendor of the Hawaiian Islands. An airship hanger has been constructed for NAFTZ ships that dock at.

-> Stranded tourists from our world have been offered land and jobs. Some have taken it. Others have taken other offers- serving in positions of the Royal Gov't and helping with the other tourists.

-> Contact has been made with the Dominion of Chile-Argentina. I have been appointed Ambassador mainly because I had burnout issues from being P-Gen. At first I protested this issue, mainly because I had just come out of a slump but it seems that my 4 years of High School German and interest in Old English Literature works well with the gobblygook that the DAC speak. (Something straight out of Chauncer)

-> A Fleet Captain from the CSSI aided the Consul from Indonesia from drowning. Ended up being awarded by HM and overseeing the melding of tech from their ships to ours.

-> Two more protests and attempt by a rebellious faction were put down by the Royal Guard with HM formally knocking off the "Protectorate" from our title in hopes of averting the protest. The Royal Guard grew bigger and now acts more of HM's gophers and enforcement (due to the official "melding" of the HPD and other PD's into the Royal Guard)

-> More later-
