Ian I posted a report on 3XT by Turtledove on the books, etc section and some youngster named Duncan claimed my honesty and knowledge. I DON'T like that because MY sources"LOCUS Magazine(and its ONLINE version) and PUBLISHER's WEEKLY are ACCURATE. WHERE does Duncan get off. I've been subscribing to loscu close to 35 years. Reading SG longer and AH at least since the late 70's I got an A for a paper I did in college in an SF. Someone should tell these poeple to back off.

Well, as you said he's a youngster, and the young usually think they know everything - it's a fact of life. If you are right and they are wrong, the best lesson is to show them by rational argument

Of course, I am no role model but when I am working all the time I get very short tempered and not fit for human consumption

First, I'm not a youngster (except by the most generous of definitions), and I've no idea why you (or Grey Wolf) should think I am.

Second, I don't think anything I said was particularly discourteous. I certainly didn't express any doubt about your honesty, just the accuracy of what you said. I asked you - politely, I thought - which bits you thought were new. You still haven't had the common courtesy to answer that question.

Third, what actually happened was that in the "Turtledove's New Books" thread, I posted (post 15 in the thread) the publisher's description of 3XT as a reprint of three old books. You later posted (post 16) the claim that two novels in it were new. Therefore, if anyone was impugning anyone's accuracy, you were impuging mine. If anyone has the right to be upset, therefore...

Fourth, my source was THE PUBLISHER OF THE BOOK (see, I can use BLOCK CAPITALS as well). They are at least as likely to be accurate about THEIR OWN BOOKS as your sources, I think. I've seen the contents of the book in question listed in several places, and all agree that it is made up of three books, all of which have been published before.

Fifth, why are we arguing over something as trivial as this?

Sorry If I did anthing wrong. The PUBLISHER did NOT indicate the publication of the two novels. No Problems with the stories particular ly the first one. THE people at Baen should have simply put a publication date for the two novels.BTW announcements in LOCUS and PUBLISHER's weekly DID not indicate that the collection was a REPRINT. They usually DO so. OK. PAX, please. Let's forget about it OK? Thank you very much. Forget the past!

OK, hatchet buried. Apologies if my tone upset you at any point, it wasn't meant to.
