Problems

The bar with the buttons for Bold, Italics, Underline, Links, Images, Quote, etc., as well as the Smilies, are there. However, nothing happens when I move the mouse over it or click. Also, attached images aren't showing up. And pretty much everywhere on AH.Com it says 'Done, but with errors on page.' or just 'Done' but with the same exclamation point symbol.

i do too. i just get used to it. however, if i do want to use them i hold ctrl+alt+shift and reboot. it works for me then.

Tried rebooting too. So you still have the problem too then?

did you hold contral alt and shift while rebooting? and not the computer, the screen.

If you use Internet Explorer, try hitting control-F5.

This is some kind of caching issue, either on your PC or your internet provider. The board's pages were upgraded but you've got at least one page left from the older version.

Okay, try this FULL sequence of events if you still have problems. You will have to login again after clearing cookies.

1. Clearing files and cookies

In Internet Explorer, select the "Tools" dropdown menu then choose "Internet Options". Click "Delete Cookies" and hit OK. Click "Delete Files" and hit OK. Close all open browser windows, then open your browser and try logging in.

In Firefox, select the "Tools" dropdown menu then choose "Options". Select the "Cookies" tab, then click "Clear Cookies Now". Then select the "Cache" tab, and click "Clear Cache Now". Close all open browser windows, then open your browser and try logging in.


2. Try accessing the site directly from the following address:

http://www.alternatehistory.com/discussion

It is possible to encounter problems if you use alternatehistory.com (without the "www") instead of www.alternatehistory.com.


3. If you are using Internet Explorer browser and still have problems, you could try adding www.alternatehistory.com as a "trusted site".

Click the "Tools" menu and select "Internet Options". Select the "Security" tab and then the "Trusted Sites" option. Click the sites button. Add the following address to the list:

http://www.alternatehistory.com

*uncheck* the "require server verification" box, and hit OK.
