Here's a map of North America, c.2000. For now, jsut look at the map. I'll have a timeline set up a descritption soon.

-Red: Dominion of Canada, Dominion of Oregon, Dominion of Labrador, and Dominion of North America (all British)
-Purple: Russian Alaska (disputed)
-Turquoise: Republic of Quebec
-Yellow: Empire of Florida
-Dark Green: Empire of Texas
-Bright Green: Empire of Mexicoa
-Blue: Califonian Republic
-Dark Turquoise: Viceroyalty of Louisiana (French)
-Dark Red: Dominion of the Caribean (British)

I'd much rather see the Empire of California under the Norton Dynasty.

I have often wondered whether without the example of the USA, other states to become independent would not have been far more likely to become monarchies than republics. One only has to look at Europe to see this trend, so a European-dominated Americas might not tolerate ANY republics at all
