Isn't there anything more interesting than war on?

Hmmm, what's this? Stockton playing in the FA Cup final? And beating Man U?

(turns frequency dial to BBC2)

The London Viola Sound, live in concert.

(turns dial to...ITV1?)

Nope, just BBC3. With ads. Can't I ever find a TL where the BBC has no ads as our own does?

More sport. Apparently the korfball results.

(turns dial to...?)

Tyne Tees, also showing the FA Cup.

"This is PBS, the Public Broadcasting System. And now, the PBS Evening News with Jon Stewart...

"Hello, I'm Jon Stewart. Today's headlines: The Republic of Ethiopia denounced the growing Rastafari cult movement today in a press conference of top ministers. The government sees the cult as a growing threat to stability in the nation, as the Rastafari movement advocates the overthrow of what many see as a overly corrupt government. And U.S President Thande is facing ever-growing support for his impeachment as crowds of protesters against the war in New Zealand equipped with signs saying 'Blame Thande' grow outside the White House..."

I've see plenty of TLs where the BBC has no ads like our own does. You just have to know where to look. ;)

BBC Two*: Performance of Fanny Mendelssohn's Viola Concerto No. 2 by some Japanese lady soloist whose name I forget, and the BBC Symphony Orchestra.

Then goes into an ad break , showing ads for Traidcraft coffee (Fairtrade on TV!), some musical instrument manufacturer advertising violin and violas (apt!) the latest Baird HD-ready TVs (with built in V-CD or Ultra-Betamax VCR???) and the dreaded hair products. Nice touch being the little cartoons in between each ad like the German public TV stations do.

(adjusts tuning knob...)

Tyne Tees covering the Blaydon Race.

(adjusts tuning again...)

BBC1- end credits of Eastenders :confused: going into ads. Coming up next is a prog called The Arena, some sort of videogame-based game show. Should be interesting, but back over to BBC2 for now...

Hang on, let's see what else is on...

Channel 4 News, top story being the achievement of independence for Tibet, some missing kid called Lyra Banks and more on the credit crunch, obviously in this TL as well...

(retunes again...)

Channel 5- temporary fault.

(retunes again)

Channel 6 , temporary fault as well :confused::confused::confused:...

(tunes back to BBC2...)

Some dreadful sounding piece being played by the same Japanese lady violist, sounds atonal.

(tunes back to BBC1)
(loses signal- shame!)

Whilst waiting for page to load, fitted new quantum signal disentangler- usually does the trick.

(switches on and tunes in...)

Mastermind, some guy answering questions on the History of the CSA, 1861-1941.

(switches over...)

University Challenge, faint signal, Caedmon College, Durham  playing University of Northumbria apparently. Can't hear the questions.

(switches over...)

Tyne Tees, Dales Diary (nein danke...)

(switches over again...)

Adverts again. Lipstick, hair dyes (all in weird and wonderful colurs), Marconi digital radios and redbush tea, seemingly. And some korfball game, Northumbria vs. Cornwall.

Now a programme trailer for a production of As You Like It, on the RSC channel next Tuesday at 9pm. Then another for some unrecognisable American sitcom on Channel 4. Then Tyne Tees ident, and signal goes bust again...

I really must avoid getting cheap rubbishy parts for this thing. Anybody reccomend a good make, and where to find it?

"...(said by a claymation cow with a sign waving to people driving by saying "Eat More Chickin!"): Chick-fil-a is the BESZ! Eat more chickin!"

(The cow then runs away from a farmer with what appears to be a black, scary-looking peice of equipment marked "Mobile Slaughterhouse".)

Voiceover: "Help save Bessy! It's time to stop eating those boring burgers (a picture of a 'boring' burger appears on the screen) and start going to Chick-fil-a! (picture of a absolutely delicious chicken sandwich appears)

"And now, you can get any of our sandwiches for just one dollar! But hurry up, (the cow appears again, running away from the farmer and into a Chick-fil-a) before this offer disappears!"

"And welcome back to the CBS Evening News. Today, Israelis and Arabs alike gather to remember the day when the first war ever to use WMDs by both sides occurred in 1979. Today, marches for peace and the cause to ensure it will never happen again and going on throughout the world. We now go live to our reporter Robert oakley in Tel Aviv. Bob?"
