What if reality show earlier?

I've heard, that idea of "Big Brother" shows appeared in 70's, but was rejected, as nobody was interested.
But, what if such show appeared earlier? Would it find enough audience? Would it change TV?

my For All Strange Days TL has earlier reality shows. Its either in the 60's or 70's.....
