11544 This is a map of the current state of play in my Weird America TL. It's an America where the Brits absolutely hammered the US in the War of 1812. I know that Weird America isn't a great name for a TL but I've never been that good at naming them. T.R. stands for Texarkana Republic, RNE = Republic of New England, IN = Indian Nation, ROM = Republic of Mexico, BNA = British North America and RA= Russian America

How far in the timeline are you?
How involved are the russians?
Are the British in for the long run?
Are the Natives united?

regards

How did the Russians reach California if the Brits have Cascadia?

They had a fort there in OTL. Make the garrison larger, and take over the area when Mexico declares independence.

They had a fort there in OTL. Make the garrison larger, and take over the area when Mexico declares independence. You've got it partly right. Fort Ross is extended from a simple trading post into a base for the Imperial Russian Navy. The Russian then think about turning the surrounding area into a penal colony. They buy the land from the Republic of Mexico in 1825 and the first load of convicts/exiles are the people who took part in the failed Decembrist revolt.

regards The current date is 1831. The territory of the US has been reduced a bit due to conflicts with the RNE and the British. The bit of Pennsylvania that used to be part of the US is now in the RNE. Mexico invaded Texarkana but President (Andy) Jackson is managing to fight them off. A force of some 200 Mexicans managed to get caught in the Alamo where a Texarkanian force led by Davy Crockett defeated. President John C. Calhoun of the US is facing impeachment because some US soldier were found in the Alamo.

regards The Russian are just maintaining their penal colony and send a some explorers into the hinterland, Clarkov and Lewisevitch:D . Of course this will all change when gold is discovered in a few years time. As for British North America that will become part of this TL's Canada. The Natives in the Indian Nation aren't united in any real sense.

Did you post it somewhere?
Sounds interesting.
I guess RNE has abolished Slavery by 1838,
while the USA will probably keep Slavery for ever.
I would expect RA to gain independence sooner or later.

How do the Indians keep white Settlers out?

Wasn't there already a sizeable French population in the Old Northwest?

Where's the Confederacy?

Where's the Confederacy?

No real need for one when 90% of this USA's land is amenable to plantation agriculture. I suppose abolition will happen slowly and uniformly.

How powerful is the Indian nation? Assuming equal forces, if they ally with RNE or TR, they could choke off the USA panhandles quite easily.

I would consider readjusting some borders, unless you have everything precisely laid out already.

Who controls the Indian Territory, and how do they keep from getting invaded by America, the R.N.E., or the British?

Why would they want to do that?

I would guess its in some unofficial relation with Britain. The Canadian companies will trade for any furs and it serves as a useful buffer between British interests and the various American states. [Although that area is probably virtually traded out for furs by now, however some other trade occurring].

That is a Werid US map -- Not a Werid America map.

No Manifest Destiny.

If that ROM is just the northern end of a surviving Mexico, that includes CA, then Mexico will turn out to be a Great Power, [opposed to OTL's US, taking the GP slot]

This US will devote a lot more resourses to completing the C&O Canal.

In my opinion if there was no Manifest Destiny, Mexico would still have trouble holding on to California and Texas. Mexico City is so far away that the Californios and the Tejanos would eventually come to resent the distant regime, and stage their own revolutions. In the end we'd see independent Hispanic nations in California (perhaps including Baja), Texas, and if it isn't split between them, a third one centered around Nueva Mexico/Santa Fe.

Texarkana Republic? what is that supposed to mean? While there was a civil war in Mexico US forces invaded part of Tejas. To start with it was called The New Territories, but disagreements between Andy Jackson and President Calhoun led to secession
