How about diving the AHD forums one more time? I'd like to see Alternate History Discussion: Ancient History split off from Alternate History Discussion: Before 1900 (http://www.alternatehistory.com/discussion/forumdisplay.php?f=6). The new forum could handle everything before the birth of Jesus.

I make this suggestion b/c I've noticed that the topics are very different for the two eras. For a POD about, say, the American or French Revolution, we can name individuals and discuss how they would change. For a POD about, say, an alternate solar system or No Abrahamic religions (http://www.alternatehistory.com/discussion/showthread.php?t=28778), the discussion instead focuses on sociology from very high levels of abstraction.

Someone please comment, whether you like the idea or not.

Dunno... the two forums we have now get both about half of the traffic, and there are relatively few threads in the BC era. Besides it's the question whether you shouldn't rather choose 395 AD (split of the Roman empire) or 476 (end of Western Rome) for a split, if you want. And it would be a helluva work for Ian to move all the threads accordingly. We still have lots of threads around in Before 1900 that would belong to After 1900.

That's a whole different topic and one of those awkward question of historical dating. Other are when did the Middle Ages start and finished?? (Standard answer to that in Britiain is they began with the Battle of Hastings and ended with the Battle of Bosworth Field

That would only be true if one is adding an additional "era," the Dark Ages (c. 410-1066 in Britain), to the chronology. If one considers the Dark Ages to be part of the Middle Ages, then the Middle Ages begin in Britain with the withdrawal of the Roman legions ca. 410.

Logic would then dictate that the dividing line on the forums works.:)
