Urge you to look at THIS story. It's in the form of a letter or sereis by a US Army officer named DWIGHT(hmmm) stationed in the UK who love board war games like the AH version of Diplomacy his playing. Two Japanese cities are accidentaly wiped out on the board by his oponent's cigar ash-his name is Winston.Hitler comes to sell PEOPLE's CARS to England. Japan is working on their own TOY cars. Read it.

It's got a very long title along the lines of: "How I Won World War Two and Stopped the German Invasion". I thought Wolfe tried to be a little too clever with it, but it was light fun all the same.
It's reprinted in a Martin Greenberg-edited anthology from Del Rey whose title escapes me at the moment. Also in the book are the excellent "Ink From the New Moon" and "The Forest of Time".

I have read this one too. Doesn't it end in a race between the English and the British?

That sounds very complicated - how do half-english half-welsh people fit in? Is it a test of allegiance - am I British or am I English ? I'd have to go British though it would be weird to say I am NOT English...

No. In a car race between the Germans and the British.
