View Full Version : DBWI: Paranaturals hadn't revealed themselves.

As we all know, the Paranatural world kept itself hidden from "mortal" eyes for thousands of years. What if, Arthur, 750+ year-old vampire, former Duke of Brittany, and nephew of Richard the Lionhearted had not revealed, in 1969, to the world that the "Creatures of the Night" and other then so-called beings really existed?
Vampires are interesting reading, considering that most of the older stuff is bunk. They can eat, they show up in mirrors, and they don't burst into the fire in direct sunlight. Of course, they have very high calorie and protein diets, mirrors strip them of their "Veneer of Humanity", and though sunlight doesn't kill them, it can make them very ill.
If the Vampires hadn't come out, would the Werefolk, and others still have revealed themselves to the world?

Why wouldn't they?

Then we wouldn't have had the blockbuster movie Underworld, based on the best-selling novel by retired werewolf general Lucian and vampire warlord Kraven about the Long War between the two Paranatural races.

OOC:How strong are they? Underworld type Strong able to leap off building and lift hundreds of pounds?
Well the US would be in a better position. It cut its own throat when Reagan tried to solve the paranormal question. And then the USSR used its baba yaga agents to start the Para riots/wars that destroyed Omaha.

(OOC: Vampires are about as strong as Spiderman, and werefolk are somewhat stronger. Vampires are also not undead, it is a type of mutation.)
What war between the vampires and the werewolves? The only wars they had were over territory in Eastern Europe, and they were scurmishes. In reality, Lucian was Gilles De Rais, and Kraven was Piotr Bassarab, a cousin of Vladimir Tepes Bassarab, aka Prince Dracula.
There is only one Baba Yaga, but she has many followers.

I'm a Corbie. If you don't know what that it, essentially, I'm a were-raven, or at least I'm supposed to be. When I shift, I turn into something that resembles a humaniod Utahraptor. I can fly, and I run very fast. The Japanese called us Tengu. I am also a licensed thaumaturge, druid, and alchemist. If magic manipulation didn't come with the package, I'd have gone crazy years ago. As my condition is hereditary, the Marrok Treatment would work. One other good thing, Manes & Mays(were-swans) run in my family also, as two of my cousins are so afficted.
Are you an Vyrolakos Strain, Strige, Ganconer/Leansidhe Strain, or Yakshi Strain?
(OOC:
Vyrolakos Strain: Like Gary Oldman's Dracula.
Strige: Kind of like Marcus Korvino in Underworld.
Ganconer/Leansidhe Strain: Pornstar endowed; pin-up sexy; vampires who feed on the energy generated during sex.
Yakshi Strain: Monstrous vampires, kind of look like Count Orlock, or rotting corpse.)

Political correctness has frequently been a scapegoat as of late...
Seriously, "supernatural" implies a degree of superiority to what humans have traditionally thought of as nature. This is why "normal" people have been avoiding it nowadays.

I also wouldn't have this lucrative job killing vampires for the Combine government. Not all of them, mind you; just the nasty, scary ones worshipping that hideous twisted death god. Sure beats being a cubicle worker, I tell you, but it's very dangerous and I've almost gotten killed or turned three times.
They've actually domesticated ghouls. Fortunately, at least compared to the vampires, they're pretty easy to kill...you don't need those special rounds in your rifle.

Well, considering that the various kings and queens of fairy had been taking turns ruling since the fall of Camelot. Oberon's current cycle started in 1901, when Glorianna ended her cycle under the guise of Queen Victoria.

If they're a threat to the Combine, basically, anything goes just so long as they're disposed of without disturbing public order. They're willing top dollar for such services. I can deliver. I'm just good at it. Also, I have sixth-sense homing abilities against such creatures, which is an asset.

I'm not talking about all vampires; I'm talking about the ones that have the funny notion that humans must be exterminated and the similar crap about the coming of the "Dark Ones" and which are a menace to civilized society. Those are the ones I'm tasked to, erm...deal with.

Sounds like you have to deal with Eurasian versions of the Children of the Bloody Fang, the vampire equivalent of the KKK. Luckly, their organization is considered illegal in the US, but they work out of Mexico. But, you already know that.
With that sixth sense thing, maybe you have a dhampire in the family woodpile?

No...I was just exposed to a bit too much radiation in my youth thanks to a freak accident with a shitty, unreliable Soviet mainframe.

Para- (along side of the)
Super-(above of the)
Why evidence has been given that Supernatural creatures exsist they don't have to live in the natural world, and as far as we know can bend (not break) Natural Laws to their whims....
With Paranatural creatures they are completely subject to the same natural laws having something of a natural means of exsistance. In otherwords they are extremely durable and have heighten longeviety and natural power, defing conventional niches. To simplify further, they are simplely cursed with gifts.
That is one of the common misconceptions we at the university are trying to deal with in our studies. Historically it is believed that if they would not have reaveled themselves that they couldn't help but leave clues behind. People finding these clues may draw the wrong conclusions, and thus devolp various myths such as the classical spainsh myth of the "Goat Eater",It seems that these were just werewolves that had devolped a taste for goat...

We paranaturals don't break any natural laws, but we sure bend the hell out of them.
In my human form, my DNA reads as person of Northern European ancestry with a bit of Amerindian mixed in, but when I'm in Corbie form, well, the jury is still out on that one.

Um, Bend as in do things impossible to due without violating a law of physics to your will... as tissue alalysis, video tape, and certain tests... show that if you tear a legiment that it has to heal, as fast as you may heal, or with Weres it shows that they are unable to jump through time and space. Still subject to gravity,
While supernatural creatures are speculated to be able to transmutate other than biologically, distort matter, can even make sounds in a vaccum.
Paranormals are limited to their gifts as good as they may be.

It's a cancer-like syndrome that causes you to take in bacteria from the air as a form of mass enhancement. There are a serious of organs along your rib cage that help take in micro-organisim, and those reacting to a horomone that situmates growth.
If you notice there is always a sterilized area when a paranormal changes from one from to anouther. This is also why some prisons use prefectly sterile enviroments for confined paranormals.
What causes you to change back, likewise is a hormone, which is, in at least in several different changing paranormals there is often a pile of dust left behind.(accelerated decompisition due to speration to the host.)

That is only with theiroanthrops(werefolk). I'm a hereditary shapeshifter, and the process is a little different. I don't have Remus Organs, but I have a series of secondary glands within my endocrine system that take "Ley Particles", aka Virtual Particles, and turns them into mass. I also have control of my body down to the sub-atomic level. Also, creatures like me proved Sheldrake's theories, I have total control of my morphogenetic field(OOC: Pratchett didn't make those up.).

Occasionally a nutcase is turned, and someone has to put them down. Guess who gets that job in my home county? Mostly, I have to deal with werecoyotes, but occasionally, a troup of vampires moves in an thinks just because we are off the beaten path, they can go wild.

The Bassarabs are the premiere family of vampires. They have ruled Wallachia for over 600 hundred years. Its one of the reasons that they are pissed and Stoker, he put the Count in the wrong country.
Anybody hold with the idea that Jack the Ripper might have been on of the Unseeliege?
I was also wrong a few posts ago, the former Royals of England, where the Viceroys of Oberon. They ruled in his name, though Glorianna did masquerade as Victoria, a few times.
