As there has been some concern in the community about the proposals of the Council regarding the use of animals for public works, we have had to call a special general meeting of the community to ask you, the legislature, to ratify the proposal.

I will state, that it is the opinion of myself and many on the council, that such an agreement as stated below will benefit both our citizens staying at Fort Ian and embarking on the Great Trek.

It is also the great concern of the Council, that without such an agreement, that the chances of success for either endeavor go down by a significant amount, not enough to doom either to failure, but enough to risk failure.

The Resolution before us:

Do you approve the Council recommendation of the use of animals of those bound for the main settlement for the development of the Fort Ian site prior to the trek, mostly the planting of crops, in return for the use for the Great Trek of animals of those remaining at Fort Ian? Credit will be recorded for all usages for just compensation, and the return of animals to their owners' will occur after their subsequent use as stated above.

Will the animals borrowed be directly returned to the owner after the Great Trek?

Your animal will be, Highlander, assuming you have experience in the care and maintenence of a horse, and seem very attached to the animal.

There may be other instances where we need the use of animals for public works, however.

Also, we are recommending that we keep animals in community run corrals for now, since this allows for less people having to construct, feed, and care for animals. Heck, even in the Old West, people put their horses up in a stable unless they had their own.

We have to get crops in the ground and shelter for ourselves built, then we can start working on individual barns and stables and corrals, etc.

Exactly. I think that this description is very good of the situation.

Can I vote on this since I'm technically at the Berkeley site well away from the connumal deliberations?

Yes vote. This is sort-of back a few days in our reality, I think.
