Day 10 dawned, and shortly into it Chairman and Doctor Finney was getting a headache.
Even as the forward team should be arriving at the proposed main settlement site (for some reason he kept hearing in his head, 'the Alpha site'), new projections from his motley assortment of experts were pointing at a lot more difficulties with this move than had been suggested even a few days before. Doc Finney was just starting to go over the recommendations to address the problems...prioritization of the move with any unnecessary equipment following along much later, supplementation of the move with boats and rafts, construction of man powered carts...when one of his fledgling medicos burst into the tent, with a radio in hand.
"It's the advanced team! They've reached the site and they say something amazing has happened! They won't tell me what but they sound excited!"
Not knowing what it could be, Doc Finney put on his Chairman hat and took the radio (one of their more precious items).
"Yes, this is Finney."
"There's what? Hundreds of them? With name tags? Thank you for your report, get an accurate count and make certain nothing runs off, then call back in."
Feeling both relieved and paranoid, Chairman Finney turned to his colleague, "Please be so kind as to call all the remaining members of the council to my tent immediately."

Flocc cantered forward to the top of what the maps said was the last knoll before the proposed settlement area.
"Holy mother of God!" he bellowed.
GBW trotted up beside him and stood there gaping as did the others as they reached the crest of the knoll.
In the gently sloping vale before them were hundreds and hundreds of wagons and oxen. The nearest was hardly twenty yards away and had a large sign tacked to it's side.
It read Scarecrow
They stood and stared for what seemed like ages.
"We...we'd better go down and investigate," said Flocc, waving GBW and two of the Rangers forward"
"Doc- you'd better get Base on the radios..."

The news came fast through the camp. Psycho had just gotten back from helping out at the Water Brigade and was heading back to the Herd Camp when the news caught up with him.
Wagons? Hundreds of wagons in Berkley? What the hell.
Thousands of horses, with the wagons.
Psycho stopped, then and there. His mind churned with numbers.
"Shit." He muttered, heading toward Glen's tent.
The ASBs were really fucking with them weren't they?

Well, that's a surprise. Those ASBs sure have some wierd ideas.
Ah well,, back to working on our own wagons here, until I get told otherwise.
At least the weather is good, so we can catch up.
Regards,
Gerard
