View Full Version : ALT PAUSE IN GAME!

We need to pause the action, people, after day 7.
We need to finish the events (to a point) which have been lingering since day 1.
We need a government and basic rules that were elected the night of day 1 (but due to internet/poll allowance delays, won't be finished until a few more days).
We need the scouting report and a poll as to where the main settlement should be.
We need to decide on events dealing with the killings and trial.
And we need to decide what is really going on vis-a-vie the Fort Ian subplot that jolo has been suggesting. A lot of complaints have been raised about it being too fast and acting like there has already been a separation of groups. I think the pause and resolving some of the previous issues listed above will help unsnarl that.

I think a rate is needed. Prehaps every two days a new game day gets put up?

Or we have a review after each game week to resolve issues and clarify things?

Glen I'm scared if we have a pause in the game people will lose intrest .
Would it help if we run each day over a peiode of 48 hrs instead of 24 hrs . I for one would like to see us roll play out a councal meeting . For by now the councal or even acting one should have meet at less once . Also after the councal meeting we should roll play a town meeting were diffrent people could give reports on what they have been doing . And people can ask what is going on .

I propose that we have enough meat gathered from the great hunt to not work as hard and hammer out the issues that need to be addressed.

Actually, we probably should not have the decision made on the council amke-up until after day 3. People know each other only from the board, and have no idea yet on what each others capabilities are. By Day 3 people should have a better idea of who is who, and will have been able to interact with the others getting to know them, and being able to see who seems likely to be the best choices for the people who are nominated for positions.
While we are similar to Grantville from 1632, very few people have ever met someone else from the board in real lifee. Or if they have, by no means have the majority been met, except from their postings.
Yes, things are moving along quickly, and maybe we need to step back to resolve the issues that have come up, but the way I look at it, each day game time has given us a better understanding of skills people can bring to the table. BUT, the meeting needs to take place BEFORE the scouting party leaves, and to have the meeting after the first scouts returned and before the second scouting leaves, means we have almost everyone involved at camp at one time.
If it means putting the Day 7 events on hold until, say, Thursday, lets do it, but lets do it now before the events of Day 7 progress further.

Ward,
You are making an assumption that if we pause that people will lose interest. Even if we are not makeing Day by Day posts, there are more than enough things at the moment that we have been planning, suggesting, trying to work out, etc., so there will still be plenty of reason for us to make posts and keep a high interest even if we put a hold on going to Day 8.
The pace is such that I got 2 days behind and ended up completely skipping Day 5 to catch up. I also want to RP out the council meeting and did suggest such, but we had already gone to Day 2 and never looked back. Heck, Psychomeltdown fussed at me yesterday about posting some stuff in Day 4 when we were on Day 6. A slow down is definately in order, but I also think we need to pause to work out a few things (like the council meeting).

Jusging by the rather huge number of threads and the fact that we might actually get our own sub-forum for this, I really don't think that's going to happen anytime soon, James.
And Glen's right--there is a LOT of stuff happening right now--and a lot that needs to be tied up before we move on.

Those are excellent ideas--48 hours per day sounds good--at least for a little while. And all those meetings and stuff would be good--at least we can be better organized with the game and new players who want to join could have a bit of background and time to get into it.

A scale of 48 hours real-time = 24 hours game-time sounds good to me.
People would have more time to read all the posts, and do replies.

Yes, pausing may have a little negative effect, but why's everyone complaining about what's going on? Of course it's chaos.
The ASBs gave us one day to say what we want, now we're here and still trying to sort what it is we're doing out.
The main things are getting done, although in some cases it might be dragooning some worker, but the main things are getting done.
Wagons being prepared for the journey, scouting missions, meeting the natives, keeping the camp in some semblance of order...
