Well, after Morrell's eight years, it is time for a new President.
This election is the first for Newfoundland, and the first in a long time for Houston, Kentucky and Tennessee. Welcome! *claps*
Alright, the three parties has chosen their nominations. Vote for the one you like the most.
Democratic Nomination
President: Nelson Rockefeller, of New York
Vice President: Barry Goldwater, of New Mexico
Socialist Nomination
President: Wayne Morse, of Oregon
Vice President: Eric Hass, of New York
Republican Nomination
President: Adlai Stevenson, of Illinois
Vice President: William Bryson, Sr. of Iowa.

Hard one between Adlai and Rockefeller. Chose Rockefeller.

Its just funny, how you post how the Democrats never found the "sweet spot" for you, and then you turn around and vote Democrat in my election...
I know its a different universe, but its funny, nevertheless.

OOC: Torn between Adlai and Rockefeller. I like the novelty of a Rockefeller/Goldwater ticket, but I actually like OTL Adlai and really want to see the Republicans regain the White House in TL-191. Abhakhazia, how did you decide?
Also, Rockefeller still a "Rockefeller Democrat" (:p ) or has he moved right-ward in this TL?

OOC: He is considered moderate by Democratic standards. I would suggest to vote Republican in 1960.

I'm a funny guy. You should know that by now.
It is another universe. And Nelson and Barry are Republicans in OTL so there.

Decided to go with Stevenson. The Republicans must regain the White House and Stevenson is the man to do it!

I went with a hole in a shoe over a hole in the head!
(Got that from a Stevenson retro campaign shirt)

I see the old system of Dem-Socialists competing, while Republicans are left in the dust, returns...
What a shame, I was actually hoping for a Stevenson Presidency.

I probably should of voted for Adlai.

Well I voted Republican. And Nelson Rockefeller a Democrat? No, I'd think he'd be a Republican in this timeline, too. But a good Democrat for the '60 Election would be John F Kennedy (he was a Dem in 2nd Great War). Or Richard Milhous Nixon. :p

GO Morse bring the socialism back to the Powell House.
Though in all seriousness they just seem to be a vaguely social democratic party, almost a third way in fact .

The TL-191 Democrats are a broad coalition. Yes, they include staunch conservatives like Coolidge, Taft, and Goldwater, but they also contain much more liberal figures like Teddy Roosevelt, Dewey, and Truman. Rockefeller fits well within the later group. Also the TL-191 Republicans are primarily a Mid-West and Farm Belt party; exactly the parts of the country where OTL Rockefeller was politically weakest.

I hope Morse will pull it off. After the Morrell 50's we need the Socialists again!

Not really any bad choices this time around. I'd probably be out campaigning for Socialists in Pennsylvania instead of worrying too much about the Presidential.

This one is much closer. If Morse and Rockefeller tie, will you have a runoff between the two or would you run a second election with all three candidates to simulate the House vote that would occur in the event of no majority in the EC? If it's the latter, I'd suggest setting up the poll with six options like this:
Rockefeller/Goldwater
Rockefeller/Hass
Morse/Goldwater
Morse/Hass
Stevenson/Goldwater
Stevenson/Hass
That way you can simulate the Senate vote on the top two VPs at the same time.

Ooh...
I did not expect this...
I'll do the second one, just because its more interesting in the long-run.

Well, this might be a close race, but I'm still starting the next ones when Nerdlinger starts his, to re-align our threads. You can still vote in this one.

I used tinyurl.com to get three links to fit in mine. As for the text, you can change "against" to "vs.", drop middle initials, etc.

Tinyurl? I'll look in that. And I'll change it to vs., but I think that sounds a little too much like boxing and the like, rather then elections.

I already described the plan -- it's a runoff to simulate the House and Senate vote. It's what would happen in real life, and it's what I'd do in my project too.

Wow, very close. Rockefeller leads Morse by just one vote with minutes to go! Maybe we won't have that tie after all. Somehow, I'm a little disappointed.

Well Rocky won, and if Nixon continues his victory in the 1964 one, then this board has elected Democrats to office four times in a row.
