3) Rivers and lakes, woodlands near by with pleanty of animals, fetile grounds, and some ranching grasses (always better near the mountains these are...), and an easily defendable place for the main settlement. So head northwest.

I still say we use Ian's Apartment Complex as a first base of operations, until we get storerooms built in Ianopolis. Then we can leave Ian's Apartment.

It's a ready made structure. it's pretty much rain proof. It's big enough to hold our most dearest equipment and supplies.
